think the reason remote play has not help the Vita much is because you have to be pretty close the console as well as having the console switched on and if you get to far away it starts getting problematic very quickly

GenesisJunkie : You know, six months ago I would have disagreed with you on the idea that mobile games aren't "real" Video Games because I've seen some that were on par with SNES and Genesis titles, but I can see now that those are the exception. I understand our game will be a "real" game, but that's because we're devoted hardcore gamers ourselves. So the handhelds still hold somewhat of a place in the market, if only we would let them. But yes, adults seem to think handhelds are childish typically.

And the Vita really does need an identity of it's own. I think Sony is just so focused on the PS4 that it can't spend much time worrying over the Vita. Honestly it's smarter business to do it that way (keep the thriving one thriving), especially since handhelds have always been more of a secondary part of their business.

And one thing that bothers me is that so many devs are now making cheap smartphone games and porting them to handhelds. Those exceptions I mentioned would be fine, but let's keep games made for hardware dedicated to gaming more serious in their standards.

daffy_duck1 : Oh really? I didn't know that. Yikes. They really should just allow players to stream their owned PS4 games remotely through the cloud. That would open remote play up big time. Still even with that limited functionality it would be a huge plus for me.

my uncle own's a vita and i did once...

without a doubt it is more powerful than the ps3 and 3ds combined-ram wise-...

but the lack of games makes the systems i mentioned better by far!!!

and i am afraid that sony will abandon and ditch the handheld ):

and i remember that sony said that we will never make exclusives for the unit ever again...

but if you like to play some ps4 games on you bedroom for instance the hand held is for you

but i heard that it can only run some games...

my uncle tried it on infamous second son and he liked it :V

i don't like that the L2.R2 are in in the rear touch pad but it is a smart move...

and the gai kai-playstation now-is a great idea-if you have a solid internet connection

but i hope that sony will support it's system more frequently so i can get back to use it

and then again i don't think that buying a unit would be a smart choice...

if you need a good handheld for emulators i recommend that you pick yourself a powerful android ^-^

if you don't care about emulators then take an iphone or 3ds but i don't recommend the vita /:

thanks for reading ๏‿๏

P.S if i spoken with wrong information correct me if you don't mind

Nintendo doesn't just own the young demogrraphic totally. I am 28 and still beat on a DS lite, and love it...

But yeah, as to getting a PS Vita, totally thinking about it, and if not that a PSP, just don't quite know which one is the more better buy. Also don't know if I would pawn shop one or store buy one, and saving money takes time.

nawafmon : Hmm... I don't really know too much about the Vita outside of it's features and game selection, however I would be a bit shocked if it were indeed more powerful than the PS3 (PS2, I could definitely see being weaker than the Vita though), but then that doesn't mean it isn't.

But yeah, Remote Play is only functional on certain games, but I'm cool with that; The Cross-Buy is what's so awesome for me. I can buy a PS4 game that's also on the Vita and play it from my Vita as well? Now that is awesome, especially for when long trips arise. Now if we could just see PlayStation Now type technology being used for Remote Play we would really have something.

Thanks for the in-depth post by the way.

manicman66 : Manic! You invaded one of my threads finally! :o Yay! xD
Not that my opinion should affect you at all, but I think you should get the Vita if you have (or plan to have) a PS3 or PS4 since that enables the handy Cross-buy feature. I know little about the PSP though.

Also I agree on the 3ds thing, but I do think the majority of the 3ds sales are for kids. I plan to get one for sure though (I need Mario and Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons!). It isn't a kiddy thing at all, but I think that's their main focus with it.

GenesisJunkie : Summon fix. Read above: manicman replied to you.

I've never owned a PSVita, but I think I might buy one of those PlayStation TV systems since they're pretty cheap (and a lot of the Vita games are compatible with it so far).

I have never owned a PSVita, but I owned a PSP, and I enjoyed a lot of the games that they had to offer. At one point I really wanted to get the PSVita, but it was too expensive for me to afford when it first came out. However now I don't really think they actually have a lot of games out for this system. I could also be full of rubbish because I haven't exactly kept up with the production of PSVita games. But every time I go into the game store, their selection for PSVita games is scarce. Cheers ~Fox

tRIUNE : I haven't really kept up too much with PlayStation TV, despite my hoping that it be released jn the States (I was hyped when they announce that it would). So just to clear it up, could you explain what it is? I'm thinking it gives access to certain Vita games for TV play, and allows you to play your PS4 on another TV in the same house without having to move the system itself. Is that all, or even accurate?

RedsFox : Yeah, since the Vita is so outsold by the 3ds you can't find many games in most stores. If you're willing to buy them online or purchase digital copies then there's actually a decent size selection, though nothing like most systems have. Here's a wiki list of them (guaranteed to be as inaccurate as you've come to expect Wikipedia to be): http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games

Eirinn :

The Vita TV does a lot more than that, such as PS1, PS mini and ps mobile, though the thing has had so many bugs since it's debut in America and some of the best Vita games which use the touchscreen can't be played.

[WARNING potentially trolly response depending on how people view things.]
-reads some of the posts while sitting on my bed.  In between the desk where I have my clock and rest my new computer, and the Tv set up with ps3, ps2, and the Saturn.  Nintendo Ds by my old computer, ps vita and 3ds Xl both charging up.-
As a gamer in a house who enjoys pretty much all games I can say personally that EACH of the platforms I have can be combined and are also all different as well.
One example is that I have Terraria on ps3, Vita, and my comp [THANK YOU STEAM!]
each console has plenty of thigns that may look similar, in practice they all are completely different.
My ps3 has Dead or alive 5 ultimate and My huge library of games,
my Ps vita has a lot of random stuff as well and access to even more game. right now it has Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus
and my 3ds has Monster hunter 4 ultimate and is used as my portable system for errands and such.
they all have thier random places and thigns they do well in some areas and not so well in others.
For instance the Vita is a fun game system to just muck around with and play games, but its games are too long for REAL portable gaming, but I do like to use it in conjunction with other systems making it easier to look up game info and surf things really quickly
The 3ds has alot of smaller games making it better for pick up and play.   I have Monster hunter 4 in there to play with my sis but alot of its time is used to keep track of info and with smaller games [tetris, columns, stuff like that]
then there are the Console games, which have the BIG Im-going-to-sit-down-with-this-bowl-of-snacks-+1-bottle-of-soda-and-GAME games. [Your all gamers so you know what I mean there.]
In fact of all my consoles the one with teh most mixing of it all is oddly enough my computer.   I used to think it was silly to have the VITA when I had the 3ds, but now that I own them... well it fits perfectly and is definatly different from the others.

zanderlex : Yeah, I definitely need that. In fact my family recently got a second PS2 so we could have one in the living room and my room. xD So you can see why this would be a good purchase for me.

Belmontzar : You had me worried with that warning. Turned out your's was one if the best replies in this whole thread.

I loved how you pointed out that each system has it's own place. I think that's something we dedicated gamers tend to miss really. We get caught up in our fanboy wars and feel like we have to pick a dominant system rather than just accept that each system has it's own purpose (and I do struggle to acknowledge PC in the game world, though solely because of the arrogance so many PC only gamers show. That's my bad though).

To me Sony systems are great for hardcore gaming (nod to your "sit-down-with-a-bowl-of-snacks" comment) and really "epic" games, whereas Nintendo is my stop for lighthearted platforming and adventuring fun with my favorite loveable characters (Mario, Link, and most often Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons) and just that Nintendo touch that can't be explained, and XBox is the place for Westernized gaming (though I hate Westernized gaming, so no XBox for me, still I acknowledge their place).

Great thought provoking post.
zanderlex : Yeah, I definitely need that.

Eirinn : I would probably recommend waiting a bit before getting one though if they haven't fixed all the bugs yet, some could be quite painful.

the biggest problem Sony and nintendo both seem to share, is how they mix up thier stores and in some cases make it hard to tell if the thing your buying is a thing you can use.  We all know about the problems Sony has with its massive store and the many times people have bought games there only to find they got the wrong version or it was a psp game.  Nintendo does teh same to a point mixing in alot of Wii U material and previews along in the 3ds stores.
Atleast the playstation gets a slight pass in that you can buy things on the ps3/ps4 [I think anyway] and then send them to the vita in the case of some games DLC [for example final fantasy dissidia duodecim].  I also wish people were more clean on exactly waht cross play functions things actually have.
Mine craft and Terraria for example let you take Maps from the ps3 and put them on the Vita, but not vice versa [unless the map was from the ps3 originally.]
Terraria also lets you port around characters, but if they have on dyes then you get the nudity glitch [Where all the dye is invisible and your running around almost nude.  FEar my 8 bit pink self.. yeah.. that is stupid.  I had this awesome black armor set up with an item set and it made it all see through.  the kicker is that you can get teh exact dye you first had on, and just make it again on the ps3 to no problem.]
