Oh I didn't understand your question at first, you mean forget, right? Make sure to edit your post so that others know what you mean

Anyway, when I forget something I try to backtrack, that is, to go back to the place I was before, and the place before that too. Generally when you go through a door or a threshold, you forget things, so going back through them can help you remember. I read about doing this somewhere, and so far it's helped me a lot.

So my tip is, whenever you forget, just go back through doors and rooms where you were before, and it might come back to you.

Another trick is to imagine the place where you keep something catching on fire. If you make the mental image as visually exaggerated as you can, it will be easier to remember.

If you're having ADD-moments where one second you're holding something, and the next second it's gone, there's really no in-the-moment thing you can do to help yourself (except for what Myelin suggested). I personally keep everything in specific places, so that this doesn't happen. It took a while for me to get the habit, but once I did life got a lot easier.

If it's details, picture yourself walking through your house (or school), and place images of what you want to remember around you. This is called the "method of Loci", and it's what I use to memorize vast amounts of school material on a daily basis. If you start early, and get really good at it with practice, virtually all of your effort in class can be put towards understanding the material.

I sympathize with you because I have this problem as well. The thing I do that may help sometimes is mentally backtrack. I just try thinking of what I was thinking about that led me into whatever it was that I forgot in the first place.

I forget things all the time. I have a lot of notepads for every password and stuff that i need to remember. You should see it. It has a lot of sticky notes and scribbles. One reason why a remembraul would be an awesome thing to have.

There are many things that can do that, and to be honest, when you're a teenager, it's really not uncommon for that to happen. My biggest contributing factor to memory and alertness is definitively eating and sleeping properly.

Make sure you eat several times throughout the day, and don't get HUGE meals, they can make you feel sleepy and have a hard time focusing, thus remembering. So snack well, and don't over indulge. Also, being very hungry will KILL your focus and memory, so make sure your blood sugar levels don't get too low.

More specific memory nutrients are, first of all, Omega oils. You can buy Fish Oil in pill form (or Cod Liver Oil), which is just a inexpensive natural supplement, or better yet, eat a lot of fish. The other two big natural supplements supposed to help with memory are Ginseng and Ginkgo Biloba; though the studies are not 100% conclusive. You can also buy them at the drug store, though they may cost a little more than the Fish Oil. Oh, and make sure you are getting all your Vitamin B requirement each day! Vitamin B is one of the main components of Energy Drinks, cause it makes you very very alert. Things that are high in protein (meat, eggs, soy, cheese, and especially fish and shellfish) are very high in B12 as well.

The other very important thing is sleep. Try to get at least 7 hours a night, though 8 or 9 is much better... especially for a teen.

But like I said, you are not alone, it's quite common to be forgetful and distracted, if it continues into your 20s and you have a hard time living normally, then I'd be worried; but not for now.

Well that happens a lot to me. Usually I just relax and not overcrowd my mind to much and it usually comes back to me. My sleeping problems have a defiant factor in my memory I believe. Insomnia sucks but I would suggest to get plenty of sleep unlike me. If you do get sleep try to relax a bit and not overcrowd your mind , it always comes back to me eventually when I do that.

I agree with a lot of the other people that mentioned it might be a good idea to place all your belongings in specific locations in your house, backpack, pockets, etc. for greater accessibility and so that you can quickly figure out if you're missing something. After all, it might take longer to realize you've forgotten something if you don't have a plan in place for checking to see if anything is missing.

If its something that is short time, I have no strategy for remembering. I have literally the best long term memory. But I can barely remember anything that recently happened. I can recently forget homework, things to do, doctors appointments. The best thing I would say is to think back and try to back track from every little thing you did. If you remember the last thing you do, then that should help identify what you did before that and so on.

One of the obvious things is to write stuff down. Keep a little stickynote pad with you and a pen or pencil in your pocket. Write things down as a mini-reminder to yourself.
The rubber-band trick works too. Take a rubber band or a snappy elastic bracelet and put it around your wrist. If there's something you NEED to remember, think of it/ read it/ watch it/ whatever and snap the band against your wrist constantly. Don't HURT yourself, but give it enough force to feel it. Then when you need to recall it, snap the band against your wrist again. Your brain will associate the snapping with what was going on before and help you recall what you need.

I also agree about a few nutrient things on here. Get Omega-3 oils. You can get that through eating fatty fish (like salmon or tuna) or through a pill...though honestly the fish tastes better unless you're allergic to it. Fish oil pills tend to leave a gross aftertaste that won't go away.  And try to get enough sleep! If you're a teenager, aim for at least 8 hours a night, so your brain won't freak out on you quite as much when you wake up. AND AVOID ENERGY DRINKS BEFORE TESTS! They make you alert, but your memory goes out into space for some reason.

If you need a caffeine boost before a test, I honestly recommend coffee instead, even though I hate the taste of it. It helps you FOCUS without the jitters, and you can add stuff to it to make it taste better if you're like me and can't stand it. It works just as good as soda or energy drinks, but you won't crash afterward and you won't lose your ability to focus properly.

Another thing you can do -- and do this regularly -- is drink enough water. If you are well hydrated, your brain works better, that's just simple truth. It will help your memory and help the REST of your body long-term. Don't neglect it!

One thing that works pretty well for me: do everything in advance. For example, when I get out of bed I'm pretty much ready to leave since my gym bag (with all the cleaning products, towels and clothes I need) was ready from the previous night.

In other words, creating a routine for the usual things you do will help you remember them better.

I tend to make a list, and feel really ticked off and just belittle myself until I remember whatever it is that i have forgotten.

I always try to remember what I was thinking of when I forget something.  Usually, when I remember it, I remember at the wrong or worst time.  It's a very bad habit to be forgetful about things especially when it happens a lot.

I don't know what I do when I forget something. I forgot.

In all seriousness, I retrace my steps or simply try to think of it when I forget something. I usually have the problem of going downstairs and forgetting why I came down. Sometimes I go back upstairs and then I remember it... so many stairs, ugh XD

I hate forgetting stuff I try to remind myself throughout the day by either writing it down on a note or paper not everything just certain things.

Usually when I forget something I do not really make a big deal out of it. I know I will find it sooner or later and just go along with that.

There are sometimes when I want to remember it but cannot. When that happens I usually just wait and I will remember it somewhere eventually or in some cases I will just rage and wonder why I cannot remember it. Then when I lose something I search the entire house.
