Okay, so there are a couple of things that I like to do in my free time, I love posting on vizzed, and I love playing games. Given the fact that vizzed is a gaming forum site, you would not think that would really be a problem, now would it? Well, I have this problem. When I'm posting and active on the board, I have trouble stopping. That is until the point where I get so bored that I just leave and play games exclusively. This is actually the biggest reason that I went absent for so long. It's like I have dueling vortexes vieing for my time. It seems simple enough to just stop and split my time between the two, but I can't seem to do that! I can only be obsessed about...err...focused on one of these things at a time. Anyone else have this happen to them? Anyone have any suggestions? Please?

FaithFighter : That's not really strange, everybody loses interest in a hobby, that's natural, and it's just as easy to come back to it, that happens all the time. You don't really need to worry about it or try to change anything.

What you need is self-control. That's easier said than done, but here are a few tricks I used to gain self-control:

1) Getting a helpful addon. I use Chrome, and so I chose "StayFocusd". I can input a limit for how much time per day I spend on a particular website, like Vizzed. For a few days you'll hit the limit and get annoyed. Eventually it will become normal, and even after you turn it off, you'll feel like you're spending too much time on the site if you go over that limit. Of course, once you get it, you can use it whenever you like.

Of course, you'll still have to exert self-restraint not to disable the addon once you hit your limit. I find that easier than physically timing myself and stopping myself.

2) Keep a specific time of day for Vizzed.
For example, you'll only post on here from 7-9p on Mondays and maybe 9p-12a on weekends.

3) Start keeping a journal of everything you've accomplished during the day. This helps you internalize the fact that you're spending too much time on here, and that everything needs to be done in moderation.

Get help? That's a good one. Really, I think that I have started to get the handle on all my hobbies, and I have been doing a little of each every day. So I don't think I'll be needing an addon! Thanks for the helpful advice, though.
