Hey guys! HomelessGoomba64 here for my first review, and I will discuss a great hack that I treasure..*cue Zelda chest music*....Metal Sonic in Sonic 1! Now this game is a fun plat former by Darkon, and for many reasons, a few that I will talk about as we get deeper in.So, let's find out more about the game of the greatest robot ever!

Graphics:6
The graphics aren't really too much too brag about, except for Metal Sonic's sprites. Metal Sonic seems to have his sprites ripped out right from Metal Sonic Hyperdrive, which Darkon also worked on. Otherwise, everything else stays true to the wonderful original Genesis version of the game, being bright, vivid, and wonderfully done by the creators.

Sound:8
The sound also has the same explanation of the graphics. Nothing too different, except for some sound effects taken from Sonic CD, like the sound for the Super Peel Out. But, the sound from the original is great. Green hills you roll, strolling through a night sky, no matter what the place is, the soundtrack matches each and every location on South Island.

Story:6
Again, nothing special here. It's the same as every other mainstream Sonic title. The story basically is, " Oh no! Dr. Robotnik has taken over the island! It's up to Metal Sonic to stop him! Guide the robot through loops, caves, and a huge mechanical base!" But, if the story were up to me, I would probably say something like this, "A robot was built by the government to copy the abilities of the famous hero, Sonic the Hedgehog. One day, while Sonic was on a vacation he had always dreamed of having, an island called "South Island", was being taken over by a maniac, who goes by the name of Dr. Robotnik. The government knew what to do, so they sent the robot to go stop the mad man before everything was destroyed."

Depth:7
Usually, games that were made in the 90's had only small features, and one story. This hack took the crank Sonic 1 had from 5, to 11. This game still remains the same, having the same story, cheats, but it has a ton of different modes to choose from, offering you hours of metallic madness. Each mode changes the controls and features of Metal Sonic, depending on which one you choose. "Original" mode is just what it sounds like. You play as Metal, with no really addicting features, just with normal Sonic 1 controls. Then, there's "Spindash" mode. It basically plays like Sonic 2, having the only difference be the spindash. Here's where things get complex with the "Sonic CD" mode. It basically controls like Sonic CD, if you couldn't guess. You have a different type of spindash, you hold it and you rev off. No spamming the A button to charge it. There's also the Super Peel Out that I pointed out earlier. You hold Up and A, and when it's fully charged, you'll blast off at breakneck speeds! Now, here is a different version of the previous mode. It's called "Sonic CD 2011". If anyone has Xbox Live Marketplace, they will know what this mode is. It combines the Sonic CD and Spindash modes together, forming a control scheme that's easy to master. This mode is my favorite because Sonic CD's spindash just felt too slow to charge, and the Super Peel Out is cool to have too, so this mode was my answer.

Difficulty:7
This game doesn't have any changed difficulty, unless you have trouble with the different controls from the modes. The level layout can sometimes get to you, and the enemies can sometimes be hard to bypass, like in Star Light Zone. If you take your time and you practice, usually using the Vizzed Saving Program to save for if you game over, you can complete the game with all those Chaos Emeralds!

Overall:9
In total, this game provides a sense for Sonic the Hedgehog hacks that I never thought I would take to the light of day. Seeing the game's latest update and removal of the Hyperdrive mode, in favor of both Sonic CD modes, it shows me what game development is really like in terms of a game about a hated villain by Robotnik, into a genuine hero of the ages.

Nice review homeless, how long have you been writing reviews? Cause this isn't bad at all, I mean of course they'll get better
as you write and familiarize yourself with it. But, other than that no complaints nice job!
