This is about those free periods that you get that you have no classes, and in this class time here, you basically do nothing for one whole class period. What do you normally do in this free period if you have a free period.

Normally if I remember when I was in high school, most of the time, I either make up some homework that I forgot to do that night before and if I really had nothing to do, I normally draw something just get through the boredom, or just look around on my phone, or when a student at my school hacked onto the school's computer system and shut down the blocking program that the school used, I played a few games on there to.

What do you do?

I had one of the best free periods ever back in college. During my Freshman year, I always had an hour and a half break every day either between two classes or between 2 of 3. I always would go down to the schools tack bell, pick my favorite section of seats by the window, eat, and post.

I mean honestly at my school we don't usually have much homework and I have a free period at times, but sometimes
during that time I just finish homework that I didn't do, then after that I draw. I mainly draw lol but it's a passion of mine,
I love it.

We don't have any free periods, it's either we have classes or we have "break" periods. We can go outside the room (or the building or school premises) during that time. I'm not sure if we have the same meaning for "free" period, but here it means we get to have a break but we need to stay "inside" the classroom and we aren't allowed to go outside the room or the building. The last time I had a free period was during preschool.

I don't know if my school has a Free period or not, but we do have 20 minutes provided to us every school day, most of the people use this period as time to try to finish any homework that they didn't do, I use this period of time to take care of things that can only be taken care of in the school. I will maybe go pay some money from fundraisers during this period of time, I also do my green team duties (recycling) once a week during this free period, I will go finish any essays that I am working on, whether they'd be homework essays or application essays for scholarships or internships. Most of the time though, I will use this free period of time to mess around if I have none of the things mentioned above to do. This is only my free period time, I have two periods in which I do close to nothing because the class is too easy. These two periods are my AP U.S. History period in which we recently do nothing but worksheets that can be easily finished in 10 minutes if you focus enough. I have used this period to go to counseling and get passes to see my counselor or to write essays, but most of the time this period is used to spend time doing homework for the overwhelming AP English Class which leaves a lot of homework. For my other period, that is almost like a free period it would be my AP Computer Science class, since I am so dedicated to coding in my free time, I normally finish all of my projects for this class early so I use the time available to surf around the Internet and read random news that I am interested in. I also use this period to explore the college information that I have found, or to check my emails. Recently though, I have started watching the LCS since they are playing during the class, I also use this period to retake any tests that I have for other classes so that I don't have to take them after school. These two periods mentioned before, are classes, but they are classes that leave me around half an hour of free time after I have finished my work, thus, I feel that these can be considered worthy of being called free periods.

This year, when I have study halls, I just do my homework or if I don't have any homework, I either draw or write. My school is a little strict with study halls, insisting that they must be silent and no one is allowed to have their own electronics. Really boring in comparison to last year, when I had a study hall teacher who didn't care what we do as long as we didn't eat, so we all got to talk and have our phones out all we want.

Erm. KInda bad reflecting on what I did in it all this year and last year but me and the guys on the hockey team and basketball team in that period would have trash can basketball offs. Thank God candy crush dominated that teacher's life because we'd be wrestling in that class too and he didn't care. 10/10 would fail to be in that class again

Now on Wednesdays and Thursdays I have a two and a half free period between my classes and a hour and a half one on Tuesdays. I'm going to use it to do homework, post, and watch baseball games.

When I have some free time in school (including free periods) I usually study for a test and review some of the books, but when I don't have to study for a test, I have this one activity that helps me kill time very efficiently.

I take some kind of Internet slang (OMG) and I try to make up new meanings for it (Old maggots, go!) It probably seems boring at first, but once I did this for an entire hour and I came up with some really interesting results. Here are some examples:

WTF = Watering two flowers
LOL = Licking old lollipops
ROFL = Really old freaking lakes

You probably get the idea.

Mine is at the very end of the school day, so I usually just use it to get homework done. Once I do that, I either pretend to read whilst napping, or stare off into space and think about life.

My school doesn't get a free period, except sometimes science lol.

In those classes where we don't usually do much, I always just sit there and do my homework. I normally do my homework during the day so I have more time to do things that are actually fun in the afternoon.

At my school, we're allowed to talk during our free time. And it's only natural that almost everyone in the class would rather talk than read a book, and that indeed is the case. Especially for me. I usually just joke around with my friends, but our free time doesn't last that long. So, I wait until lunch to get all of my talking in for the day.

There were study halls in the dorm I lived in during my last bachelor degree; the library was also a place of studying. But honestly I just preferred my room since it was usually quieter but also more comfortable. Although I have to sit on wooden chairs I could at least use of my pillows to spare my back a little. Plus I could listen to music without headphones, with were uncomfortable at the time.

So unless you need to do team work, I would advise you study home or in the quietest corner of the library or else you will get distracted

Well, we don't exactly have a free period, but if anything, it's our recess. It's 25 minutes long, and we can go about anywhere in the school. The most popular places are the media center (or library, but it's referred to as the media center), computer lab (you can do almost anything school-related, you can't attract the supervisor (my Spanish teacher)'s attention, otherwise she'll ask you what you are doing and if it's school-related), and the place you go for recess (back field, gym). We usually get some homework done if we can (or if we want to; sometimes we don't really care to do our homework) or just study. But, yeah. Our school's recess period is basically our free period. But with it being only 25 minutes, you can only get so much done. A few years ago, when I was younger, we had the 25 minutes plus 45 extra minutes, right after the recess period. We don't even have that anymore. So, if you forget to do your homework, and let's say it's a lot, you're done! No escaping that!

mario102 : "When I was younger" . Anyway are these 25 minutes the only break you get for the whole day? If so classes must be pretty long. However I salute the variety you seem to have. Back when I was in high school, computer labs were only opened at noon for special noon activities for which you had to pay to attend.

My free periods weren't exactly free, even though I had three of them. I was a student teacher's aid, and for the first one I went to the elementary school to help one of the 3rd grade teachers, for the second one I was a teacher's aid for my geometry teacher (bless that woman, not only did I help her during that period but she helped me with my Algebra II homework, I never would have passed or gotten an A without her), and for the third one I was a library assistant. I was trusted, though, and even got to order books for the library as long as I stayed within budget. The school librarian's reasoning was that, as I loved to read and was a teenager, I would have a bit more idea as to what others might read (outside of classroom necessity) than she would. I was usually right, too, which helped my standing. I loved doing that. Wish I still could, actually. *sigh*

janus: This is basically our only break, if you don't count lunch. A class can be either 68 or 45 minutes, depending on the day. I really don't have many options (you mentioned variety) but I seem to make the most that I can out of my 25 minutes.

During free periods in my school you can wander around the school and do what you like besides leaving the building. Most just hang around in the social area but there is no classroom you have to be. Though a number just go home if it is during the last period of the day. I just do homework,study or play games on my phone.
