Even though I don't remember too much of my year before September, I've still learned a couple big things and a few smaller ones (Like I'm apparently decent at Beat-'em-ups. Who knew.)

1.
If you don't speak up, nothing will get fixed  I'm typically pretty shy in real life. I don't speak because I don't think my opinion is valued. Blame my low self esteem. Either way French class taught me this lesson this year. My grade was dropping because I found I was learning nothing and as such treated French with little to no enthusiasm. She thought I learned verbally like everyone else, which also made anything new we did learn HARD. After I realized the problem, I tried confronting her about it, and French has actually gotten a little better, because she's tried to include more written work. I doubt anything would've been done if I hadn't spoken up, since my other classmates were perfectly happy with no writing.

2. Conflict is sometimes necessary: This is a bit of a big one. I'm naive. No ifs ands or buts. This past year I thought avoiding conflict would make everything sunshine and rainbows. It didn't. I've had a couple situations where I was immature. Both times I stayed quiet, kept it bottled up, let it destroy me, and pretended everything is fine. That. Does. NOTHING. I'm afraid I can't go too in-depth on this one since it's a little more personal, but it does tie into my first lesson. Even if you know the person will be hurt for a while, you have to stick up for yourself, and fight when you believe you are being treated unfairly. Cut ties if you need to. Your self being is very important and no one should have the right to make you feel otherwise. People who hurt you and then pretend they didn't the next day are not friends.

3. Love is blind: This one I never thankfully witnessed first hand, but my oldest sister went through this for so 7 or so years. This lesson finally popped in this year. You aren't always right in personal matters. Always value your friends' opinions, and try not ignore the signs. Abuse isn't love. I hope I never have to relearn this lesson the hard way.

What the last year teach me? o= Well, I have been to this "concert"... but it was just a filthy bar with very ignorant arrogant people, and it also was the wrong band, it was not the band that I actually wanted to see... So the year teach me that I should be more careful next time (if there will ever be a next time...)

Gamin'Gal :  This was probably one of the better posts I've seen here, though I've enjoyed the majority of them. It is NEVER too late to learn something, and we are students our whole lives, even if not under institutions.

Anyways, I can personally vouch for every one of those 'lessons' you've learned.  Those are some pretty big things to realize, and I'm very proud of your accomplishments and happy for you.  Keep improving yourself and adding value to your life and being.

Your opinions are valuable to SOMEONE, even if not the people you expect and hope them to be.

2013 was a horrible year. One the worst I, and a lot of my family, have ever experienced and at times I just wanted to throw in the towel.

If 2014 taught me anything, it's to
not give up. Compared to the year before, my life is in a completely different place now. A better place that's not always full of hopelessness. Sure, it's not perfect and some days are still pretty bad, but if I can get through the hell I endured, I can get through the rough patches that pop up now and again and come out of it okay.

Another thing the past year has taught me, and is something I've really come to take to heart: fearless doesn't mean having no fears. It's having the strength to face them. The past few months especially, those words have sort of become my mantra.

The final thing I've learned this past year...and on a less serious note: Good things come to those who wait. I've always kind of hated that phrase since patience isn't exactly my strong suit , but after waiting 17 years, I finally got to see the Backstreet Boys in concert so there's a bit of truth to it. lol

2014 has taught me that not everyone is nice, and that people can target you just because of you are, where you come from, the color of your skin. The year has also told me that you need to be prepared immediately when the worst hits. This year has also taught me that there will never again be a good day. Something, somewhere, somehow, there will be bad. There will be evil. There will never be more good.

Well first of all, sorry for the late post. This year has taught me a lot actually. I'd say that this year was a major milestone in my life for good or for bad.

1. I lost a lot of friends this year. Especially towards the beginning of the year. Girl troubles, friend troubles, so many troubles in the beginning. I was overwhelmed with life in the beginning of this year to be honest. There was a lot of stress mostly because I was losing a lot of friends. I'd say that I lost half of my friends this year alone. Sad isn't it? But as I look back I'm not happy that I lost those friends, but I'm relieved since I couldn't have kept moving forward with them.

2. I made a lot of friends this year as well. I got into the "popular" crowd at school while maintaining my good relationships with my maybe more nerdy friends. This was more towards the end of this year, or beginning of the school year. Honestly it was very nice to have some new friends. It really made me realize that life is good no matter what happens (usually).

3. I learned to stand up for myself this year. At 16 I would let people push me around but I wouldn't say anything about it because that's not the person that I am (EDIT I don't mean people literally pushing me). I think a lot of people can relate to not standing up for yourself. More recently, I had a job. I'm not going to go into detail on what happened with this job, but things went south and I got fired for an extremely unjustified reason. I wanted my job back of course because I quit my other job to get this one and was, frankly, pissed off. The manager told me I had my job back and I was satisfied. He never gave me any hours, I went in to talk to him and he said that he'd give me a call if there were any opening (after he already told me I had my job back). I stood up for myself for the first major time in my life and I said don't call me. This was actually only about a week ago and I am 17 now. That was probably the best feeling that I had in my life, even though adrenaline was flowing through my body.

4. I learned that people aren't who they seem like. I think a lot of people know this already and to a degree I knew this before this year too. However, this year really showed me the meaning of that. It was a painful lesson to learn, but you have to learn to keep going in life. If you don't learn anything you won't ever make any progress and you will never move in life.

Life's lessons are sometimes cruel, but it is always worth it in the end.
