So curious question, what all holidays do you celebrate this time of year?

Myself, I celebrate Yule and Christmas. My family side celebrates the Christmas while my Girlfriend and I celebrate Yule. I love the holiday season so much. It's also interesting checking out all the different other holidays too. Free food and presents, you can never go wrong with the holidays.

I'm not a Jehova's witness but if left to my own devices I wouldn't celebrate any dictated holiday. I don't need a special calendar date to celebrate my mom or dad. My birthday is mothers day. Know why? My mom shouldn't give me anything that day, she already gave me life, so on that day, instead is the true mother's day. Thus I believe mother's day should be different for everyone. This is the same for any other holiday. It doesn't have to be black history month to celebrate the works of Malcolm X or Rosa Parks. I don't need Christmas to give my gf some heartfelt gifts (although if I did not celebrate this with her on the 25th there will be a commotion...) The only reasons I like holidays is because sometimes I don't have to work and I still get money on Chinese New Years. Other than that, Chinese New Year just comes and goes. At the heart of it it is just lousy superstitions anyways. America, you already let the media dictate a good part of your daily lives. Now don't be bound, also, to the static calendar highlights.

Edit: Just realized I celebrate Halloween regularly but I celebrate it on more than a few days out of October. I didn't think or saw it as celebrating Halloween before and I still kind of don't because at the core of it everything I do to celebrate Halloween seems to not relate to the holiday. I mean going to parties and watching hot chicks throw up and get all stupid isn't a Halloween celebration, it can might as well be a nerdy cosplay after party without the nerdyness. Maybe this year I will actually pass out candy and go trick or treat with my little sister.

I celebrate Christmas, like the average American household does. It's always been the same. Christmas tree in the corner, circle mat under the tree, presents on the mat. It never gets boring though . No matter how many Christmas's I will go through here, it will never be boring for me. There's nothing like decorating your tree with ornaments you made in first grade (for the memories) and then on Christmas Day, opening a present in which you don't know what's in it (well you do, you just try to make your parents think they did a good job wrapping it .

That's how we celebrate it at our house. After we get through that in the morning, we go to our grandma's house and she has her Christmas tree by the window so all can see, with all her presents for our family and my cousin's family under the tree. It's always fun there, always having a ginger bread house  to make and eat
later (that's why you pretend to accidentally break off a piece and say you should eat it xD).

Well, I answered your question. Have a good day kind sir, peace .

I'm from the United States, I still live there, plus me and my family are Christians, so I celebrate Christmas. I also celebrate New Year's Day but that's not at all religious.

Christmas is my favorite holiday because other than religious purposes, it's intended to be about giving. Also, I get to see so many lights and trees every year for a month or two, I get to spend a lot of time with family, and usually I spend a lot of time with friends shortly after Christmas.

New Year's Day isn't that special for me, I usually don't do anything special other than watching one of my local news stations do a live New Year ceremony.

I wouldn't care if I celebrated no holidays at all, and left to my own devices, I don't think I'd put any effort into recognizing any of them. However, mine and my husband's families are pretty big on a few.  Thus, we mainly celebrate four: my birthday, his birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  (Ironically, we actually agreed not to celebrate each other's birthdays, but we usually end up doing something for the other anyways.)

I just celebrate Christmas, though it seems my family has a lot of birthdays in the December-January area.

Well, in reality, I don't celebrate holidays that much because to my point of view, they're just like a normal day to me, with the exception of doing a little bit more stuff like spending more time with you family, but that's mostly it, everything else is like an ordinary day.

Around this time of year, I celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas.

To me it's more about having a chance to get together with family and friends than anything else.

This year, both went surprisingly well. I hadn't particularly liked the family get-together's in the past.

My family is relatively traditional when it comes to holidays, so we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. My uncle and his family are Messianic Jews (that happened within the past year), so they've begun celebrating Hanukkah instead of Christmas. We entertained the idea of celebrating it somehow, probably fairly mildly (read some history behind it, participate in a tradition or two), as we all enjoyed the service we went to earlier this year and want to know more about it. I wouldn't be surprised if we had some sort of Hanukkah celebration next year, but we'll definitely be including both Thanksgiving and Christmas as well.
