Vegetarian is somebody who does not eat meat, poultry, fish, or seafood. Vegetarians are generally those people who have chosen a diet with far less restrictions than those chosen by a vegan.

A Vegan is a person who has chosen not to consume any animal products or byproducts. Some will even so far as not consuming honey and yeast, and others will not wear any clothing made from animal products. Veganism is a diet and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose. Vegans endeavor not to use or consume animal products of any kind I thinks that right from what I read a vegans diet is very strict.

Ovo-lacto vegetarians are vegetarians who do not eat meat, poultry, fish, and seafood, but do eat eggs and milk.

Ovo-vegetarians are people who would be classed as vegans if they did not eat eggs.

Lacto-vegetarians are people who would be classed as vegans if they did not consume milk.

Semi-vegetarians are people who have chosen to live a lifestyle which is not strictly vegetarian. A semi-vegetarian may be a person who only eats meat occasionally, or perhaps doesn’t eat meat, but eats poultry and fish I think thats right.

If this the case I'm more likely to be a semi-vegeterian because I don't know I could be a vegan that is a very strict diet. I tried veggie burgers and other meat alternatives some them not bad. If want to try a healthier life style go with alternatives if you don't want the real meat. Like I said I tried some and some of them ain't bad.

Nope no, All of my nope. Life would be pointless if I couldn't enjoy a nice T-bone steak marinated in A1 Steak sauce. That and the sizzling smell of bacon in the morning. Just thinking about sends me into a shock. Life with out meat is like life without air.

I recently went vegetarian for a month. (October 26th -> November 22nd-ish)

I felt great doing it. I did so because I had been over-eating meat the past few months and was getting sick of feeling sick. There were also a few ethical and environmental considerations I had been thinking about for some time.

As for weight, it didn't make a difference. I'm underweight, and I didn't end up losing or gaining any weight at all. Though I ended up skipping fewer meals as a vegetarian.

After that I ate meat during Thanksgiving break, and I've been eating it a few times a week ever since. I plan to go back to vegetarianism in 2015. Or at least try to stay vegetarian for as much of the year as I can. While I can see myself becoming a vegan eventually, I don't think that will happen in the near future.

Being a vegetarian or vegan would be an unhealthy lifestyle choice, so not only would I not want to do it, I never would.

thenumberone :

I don't think it's necessarily a poor lifestyle choice. There are plenty of perfectly healthy vegetarians. They pursue alternate sources of protien, like beans, nuts. A famous one is soy.

As for myself, I couldn't go without meat. There are just too many tasty things that include meat that I'm not willing to let got of. Take sausages for example. I really really love sausages.

Xenthou : I fully agree with your post I like meat but I do consider myself a Vegetarian and sometimes I will go on a Vegan Diet and like Xen said there are plenty ways we can get proteins it's not just inside meat. I use websites for this just so I can have a balanced diet and stay healthy

thenumberone :

Note that virtually all vegetarians are not 100% vegetarian. They do get those nutrients from pills.

There are B12, Creatine, and DHA pills - all easily bought.

Most people don't eat the right proportions of meat. So comparatively vegetarianism can be a very healthy lifestyle.

EideticMemory :
Except most vegetarians take either no supplements, or the wrong amount of supplements.
And dusts show that taking higher doses than necessary shortens your life span.
If you read the article I linked, 92% of vegetarians are deficienct in it B12 alone.
Equally 93% of vegetarians are zinc deficient
CoQ10 is found only in red meat. Hence more deficiency. If you need to chomp down bills, id say your diet isnt good.
Mkst vegetarians dont take correct supplements.
And tsking the wrong dosages is bad for your long term health.

In conclusion - myth. Its far easier to eat responsible amounts of meat than have a healthy vegetarian diet.
So comparitively, being vegetarian does not mske you healthier. In many ways the reverse is true.

Why would you not eat a steak. I mean a T-bone steak 16 oz . Just the thought of one makes me happy. But on another note isn't wild we live in a place where we can decide that we don't want to eat something. There are places where people eat what they can find.

Oh my god no! No disrespect or anything meant towards anyone who likes those two choices of lifestyles. There is absolutely no way in hell I would ever be either one of them because I am flat out a carnivore. I am a true southern guy that is all about meat ( by that I mean most kinds of meat ) and potatoes. Anything else would add to that but I have to have those two things. Sorry I just don't see the sense in not eating meat because it is what we have been doing since we first started looking for food way back in the day as cavemen. I know but the point could be argued and has been with me multiple times because I have friends that are both of those. So we always end up agreeing to disagree.

Never will I be a vegetarian. Being Chinese I've had soy ever since I can eat. I f***ing loooove veggiez. I can go to the store, buy a bigass bag of mixed veggies, steam it, and eat it after I get baked. The thing is despite the amount of veggies I eat, I need meat, the protein is just amazing to eat and taste. I mean after doing a 10k I have no qualms about going to a Korean bbq and just destroy every plate and bowl handed to me goku hyperbolic time chamber style (remember when trunks and goten said uhh who was here last and ate all the food...lol). I know for sure that if I become a vegetarian my weight will plummet. I eat a lot of the stuff but no way can I spend so much time eating only plant based food.

If you are a vegetarian or vegan you have my kudos and ...condolences because you don't get to eat scallops or a nice chicken cordon blue with my goat cheese sauce.

Now here are my two cents that people think I am crazy for having. I believe that people who torture themselves by going vegan or vegetarian not because of health reasons but for sake of animal lives are quite misguided. This chicken on my plate is dead. It is juicy and ready to be consumed by me or your pet dog. By not eating this meat, the chicken is now wasted. What good is that? That chicken is dead regardless if you are a vegetarian or not and by not eating it will not bring it or others like it back to life. Rather, it is wasted with such a noble thought. Now one can argue if no one ate it then no one would need to sacrifice chickens for the sake of our stomachs and pallets. While true, there are plenty of other animals that are fed chicken. There will also be no way at all for everyone to not eat any meat or any particular meat period. So going vegan for this cause is unneeded. Now to make matters worse for myself because this truly is ironic. My dad told me how can I possibly think like this being a person who majored in bio and is an animal lover. Quite odd indeed but I am not so naive to think my world is a perfect place. But actually I am only arguing that being vegetarian to save the animals is pointless. If you are a vegan for the healthful lifestyle or because you grew up in a vegan household and you are content with your diet because eating meat makes your body reject it, you guys have my support all the way.

However, at the end of the day, I still recommend meat to any vegetarian or vegans because almost every culture has their own take on chicken (noodle) soup and it would be splendid to try them all.

Sup T.O. ! Hey I hear you. Me personally I prefer too eat a big juicy burger and fries when I get baked. Also got to have a cold glass of iced southern style sweet tea to drink with the food. Heck while you're at it a good scoop of peanut butter / fudge ice cream and some home made pecan pie would sit great for dessert. Don't know about anyone else but I'm getting hungry. Take it easy y'all .

Actually for me,yes I always wanted to be a vegetarian ever since I was a child, but my father would never ever let me be one in all seriousness. He's just all out against vegetarians, though I think it is actually better for you cause you can get all the protein you even need from just vegetables, depending on the ones you're eating of course. Most of em' can actually give you a ton of protein just like meat, though for being a vegan,I don't think I would wanna be one of em' mostly because I like adding cheese and drinking milk heh.

Other than that it's a fair choice in anything you wanna be to say the least, what ever you wanna be is a good life style choice half the time if that what you actually wanna be.

I could be one if I wanted to, but I don't. I'd rather keep a balanced diet including all of the food groups instead of excluding certain foods. While I do enjoy apples, carrots, oranges, among other things, I don't think they'd be enough for me to go vegan.

Will1 : There is no way I could possibly be a vegetarian. As much as I like certain vegetables there's no way I could live without meat. Life without meat to me would be the same as life without video games or american football.

I heard of Vegan and Vegetarian but I never heard of the other sub-categories. I definitely would be semi-vegetarian at first if I was willing to give up meat. Then once I get used to I'd go full vegetarian just to commit myself further. But someone like me who is a picky eater can be difficult to abandon my lifestyle.
