tgags123 : It depends how you want to look at it.. I guess... If you want to look at it and determine which mods are not doing their jobs compared to others feel free to do so... but i'm not.... I simply replied to your earlier statement...

Anyways stop trying to turn this into a pointless debate... thanks...

I'd like to weigh in here and say I like this thread. It doesn't prove a Mod is good, but it doesn't mean to. It does what it means to do well, and that is show if Mods are actually active. Though an active Mod is typically doing their job.

I'd go as far as to say there is no way to know if a Mod does their job based on statistics, as we can move thirty threads that shouldn't have been moved. But I digress.

Honestly, I can't say how glad I am to see a thread like this one posted. Why not? The logs are open so people can read them after all.

And if anyone should say the Mods don't do their job, I'd simply ask this: are the forums still functioning according to David's liking? If so, then the Mods are doing their job. We're far from perfect for sure, so I'm not arguing that we are by any means. Heck, I could list more (actual) problems with us than the most disgruntled user here could, but what's the point? We're human and we try.

As for my absence, thing is correct: I moved. I have extremely limited access now, but I should be far more active soon.

Close? Hahahaha I'll sticky it!

But anyway, before anyone could react violently, I'd just like to remind people that statistics, quantity, and CP scores aren't accurate basis of what a mod does or doesn't do when it comes to his/her job as what has already been implied earlier. Heck, I could easily complete the CP quota as long as I stay in chat 1 hour a day (without talking) and browse the pages on the forum without actually reading nor posting.

Another one to emphasize:

RGR STAFF' JOB IS DIFFERENT FROM MOD'S JOB.
RGR jobs are mostly just actions that don't really need judgement calls, they have clearer and simpler job instructions that could be easily gauged by digits (aka CP). Say if your job is to upload game screenshots, then if your CP for the said job description is abysmally low, then you're not clearly doing your job because the CP piles up whenever you upload a screenshot.

However, what if a mod thinks carefully if a thread should be moved but then decided that it's better for the thread to just stay in its original place? CP don't give us Effort points for thinking. What if a mod diligently tried to keep the chat peaceful for a day but there were no troublemakers present so there won't be anyone to mute nor kick? What if another mod on a different day did all the modding job while the other one slacked off in chat? The two will still get the same amount of CP. What if a mod just lurked around the board while checking for stuff that needs to get moderated, and then another mod posted tons of long but rubbish posts? Obviously, the rubbish mod will get more CP. I hope I've made my point clear with those few examples. Just because someone got a low score doesn't mean he's not doing his job, lol. I'd also say the same for those who claim that we're not doing our jobs (though I haven't heard anyone saying that yet) you can never know if we're actually doing it or not, don't just base everything on CP.

As for my lower activities these past few weeks/months, I've never really felt obliged to explain nor tell my reasons why I was away outside the mod forum, but for the sake of this thread, let's just say I've been busy with a programming certification exam and also the final exams and projects deadlines, and that everything ended just this last November. The first week of December is actually the start of my long awaited break so I was just about to get my activity up again....

Eirinn :
Juliet : Of course, honestly speaking I had to make this thread twice... simply because after two hours of spending time making sure everything was clear and crystal and essentially explaining the points everyone has made.  Then of course bad luck occurred and vizzed went down lol...

Either way no one can truly judge if a mod is doing a good job or not. I know this being a moderator myself before. Plus another thing people don't seem to realise that is everyone has an opinion on what is correct and what isn't. I mean some threads can go in multiple forums, and I may think it goes in a different one than it's placed in but it doesn't make it wrong....

Either way, the only thing that shocks me is that there really is no one making sure mods reach quota... I know some may argue it's not needed... but it can also lead to people taking a lackadaisical approach to the job (not saying anyone does) it can also provide motivation for mods to post and do more work. (well it did for me)

Maybe even a moderator of the month or something.... It'd just be better to see some form of actual motivation for moderators..

I don't know if its a question about being lacks more than trusting that a mod would have the decency to step down if they felt they couldn't continue to do their jobs.

This probably doesn't always happen, but I would hope that a mod that doesn't want to be a mod anymore or feels they can't do the job would step up and relinquish their position.

I'll agree with a lot of the locals who have posted here already, this is a great idea. It's something we as a mod team have been lacking, I think. It provides a degree of accountability, yet ensures the people actually recognize the work we do. There are various arguments, but those are pointless to get into. Point being, this thread has done it's job well. It's shown the cold hard statistics, and it's not hard to read the thread and form an educated decision about whether or not a mod is doing their job.

Thanks for this, muffin!
