So, I've been thinking. What kind of games do other people play? Me, personally, I play a lot of strategy and RPG style games. Stuff like Final Fantasy, Advance Wars (love that game), oh, and I absolutely LOOVE Final Fantasy Tactics. It's the perfect mix of strategy like battle systems and Final Fantasy party mechanics. What about you guys?

The genre i play the most of is easily Strategy, followed up by Shooters and Platformers.

How often i play certain games is determined by how fun and deep i find them, and these genres have loads of stuff that makes me want to play them again.

Boxia : I agree. My only problem with platformers is the that they're getting so stale. Just look at Mario. The New Super Mario Bros. series is just a clone of the original Super Mario Bros. with more power ups. Super Mario Galaxy is just a clone of Super Mario 64 with a messed up gravity system. Do you agree?

Super Mega Man 568 :
I do agree. I really can't get into mainstream Mario games anymore since they've really gone done the drain in terms of originality.

However, i find that i can still enjoy other platformers (like Sonic) for their own special formula. For example, the sheer speed of Sonic is what really makes me want to play the games.

I play strategy, puzzle, hack n' slash, and RPG's. I liked to play the Zelda games, and still find myself playing them. Another game that I used to play, was Legend of Dragoon. My favorite Mario game is Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars. When I'm not playing something Nintendo, I'll usually be working on my own RPG.

On the occasion that I do play an FPS, I play Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, and Left 4 Dead 2.

Hmm... come to think of it, I don't have a favorite type of game or genre. I just like to play all kinds - RPGs, Shooters, Platformers, Strategy, Fighting, and others. I just don't really care for MMORPGs. And I guess if I had to choose a genre, I'd have to choose fighting. I love games like Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, the Soul Calibur series, Naruto Ultimate Ninja series/STORM series, and the Dead or Alive series. Although I don't really care for Tekken or Street Fighter all that much, but I do play them occasionally as well.

Boxia : I agree. I hate it when Sonic games completely break the speed you've built up through the rest of the stage. Sonic Unleashed is one of the games that do this a lot. I love the game, don't get me wrong, but when you're at max speed an then you hit the tiniest ledge and it completely stops you, then it gets a little bit annoying. This is also one of the reasons I prefer the modern Sonic games over the originals.

thecrzyguy : Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars will be a good game forever. That game needs a remake for the 3ds AND a sequel for the Wii U.

Personally, I am a VERY open-minded gamer. I play games of any kind. If someone tells me, "BRUH YOU GOTTA TRY DIS GAME OUT BRUH," then, of course, I will try it. Especially on Vizzed. I spend most of my time here on user's game profiles so I can find a game I want to play. I always love trying new games and seeing how they are. However, my favorite genre is Platformers, like Sonic and Mario. Even so, I still play many types of games.

LunarDarkness2 : BRUH YOU GOTTA TRY FINAL FANTASY TACTICS BRUH Just thought I'd throw that out there. Also, the Pikmin games are pretty good. I always recommend Pokemon. Animal Crossing is pretty cool... ok ok, I'm not going to tell you every game that I think people need to try. XD Sorry for wasting five minutes of your life to recommend games when you never asked for recommendations.

Super Mega Man 568 :

Mario Galaxy is a lot different from Super Mario 64, but it was different in a way i didn't like it.

The levels are pretty much, just that. Levels that you cannot freely explore but are rather forced down one narrow path with a few exceptions, and powerups, that weren't really power ups. Just gimmick necessary to progress forward in the game rather than helpful items that rewarded the player for keeping them without taking a hit, and no, the bee mushroom doesn't count because of how much it takes away from Mario's already existing moves just so you can kindof float around like a puff ball for a limited time.

Nothing like the freedom of wingcap or the powerful Tanookie suite.

Also, though this is harder to say, I felt like the game was a great deal more childish than Mario 64, and sunshine. Just the lumas. . . the storybook. Okay, maybe they would have done the same thing for Mario 64 if they could have, but honestly I felt SM64 was much more mature. Some textures like grates could be put straight in 007. Same for Bomberman 64, but not it's seaqual, The Second Attack.

In the N64, everything was getting better, or I think so at least. Though Star Fox 64, having better graphics, physics, ect and a few Universal improvements over it's earlier counterpart, but a huge decrease in difficulty reminds me of what a lot games do nowadays. . .

My favorite game genres are. . . .

. . . . .

Ummmm. . . .

I have not that much of a genre I'm really into. I haven't even played that many games. But I'll start with this.

A game has to be really good or else I won't finish it as it doesn't seem to be worth my time.

I loved Vectorman, and could never seem to get past that bamboo mill level boss. You could only shoot it in the head, and it could charge you. Shooting projectiles all over the place in sprinkler fashion.

I never could beat Megaman.

Cave Story was great. In like. . . all the aspects. I watched my brother beat it, then I had to play it too. It was perhaps the greatest indie game I've ever played!

So sidescroling shooters are one of my favorite. Too bad I never could get very far in Vectorman.

I do like Mario and Sonic- A lot.

It was pretty awesome. Sonic Adventure 2. Adventure DX. Unleashed even. These are good games and children should have them, though teens love Sonic Adventure 2 as well. XD

Mario I loved Sunshine, and 64. Galaxy, nope, though New Super Mario Bros Wii was a great idea, what I've been wanting in forever.

Mario 3D land?

It's great!

So platformers would be another one I like.

As for RPGs, or really action RPGs, I liked quite a few Zelda's and Kid Icarus, plus I have a line of RPGs for the NES that I plan to check out once I get the RGR to work more.

These were fun, and Mount And Blade Warband, I loved. OOT I loved more, (when I was younger, but ah, ya get older.)

The Zelda series doesn't seem as neat as it once did to me anymore. . . particularly Nintendoes unwillingness to develop a story or have do anything outside of enter dungeons and do smaller overworld quests.

I mean, they never did anything like battles or stuffs like that, ya know?

I just wish I could find a clean, mature. AND inovative game. But those are almost non existent. ya think? :/

Sword legion : Yeah, it was different, but not in a good way. :/ Like you said, it's on rails. The thing that made Mario 64 great wasn't level deign, gameplay style, heck, the way the designers designed it to be played wasn't what made it fun. It's the fact you can go anywhere, do anything, and in any order you want. Sure, the gameplay was pretty tight for the time, and the level design was pretty sharp, but we didn't care. It was the fact that you can roam around and kill goombas at will. Awsome!

I kind of liked the bee suit, but I suppose it's because of how low standards the game had to live up to, I felt like it was the closest thing to freedom we ever had. Although, it was ruined when you had to go under a planet or something like that, since the gravity was so spotty and inconsistent. Over all, I felt like Galaxy had a lot of potential, but kind of fell flat. The sequel wasn't even as good. I admit, I had a lot of fun playing those games, but not for the same reasons I had fun with 64 and Sunshine. Sunshine felt like a sequel, where as Galaxy felt like a whole new series. :/

I enjoy platformers when I want to relax or I'm with my grandma (Yes, she plays video games. Awesome, right? ) because, when OUR family sits down to play a game, it's not to beat it, it's to see what crazy stuff we come up with while we're beating it. XD Half of the time, we're not even talking about video games.

And, I agree, Super Mario World 3D was AWSOME! Although, I think it was kind of easy. :/ I beat the main game in a couple of weeks, and the only reason the Master Quest (roll with it) is hard is because you have to get so many coins to progress. Which is annoying, because the first time I played through the game, I didn't give a flying chicken about the coins. It's annoying.

The mature and inovative games... Yeah, there aren't any. And that's not completely Nintendo's fault. We, the community, don't really play innovative games. I won't go into great detail, but if you want to know more about what me and my tin foil hat are talking about, just look up Game Theory: Are Gamers Killing Video Games? No, I'm not part of the video series. -.-

Super Mega Man 568 :

I actually agree with the bee suite, it really did feel like the closest thing we had to freedom with that game! XD

I'll look into that game video you recommended. And yeah, I kindof know what you mean about playing games more as a family thing. I play Mario just because it's something I can do with my little siblings. They have lot's of fun with their big brother.

The other genre I did enjoy, even though I only played one game of it was Turn based RPGs. Mine Was Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door.

It was truely epic. ^^'

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

I play most any type of game. If there is little to no swearing, I will most likely enjoy it. I have played Shooter, Stealth, Platformer, RTS, Turn-Based Strategy, etc, I have played so many genres of games, I couldn't count all of them.

i usually stick to RPGs, Dungeon style games, and Hack N' Slash. and then theres Metroid. the Metroid series is by far my ultimate favorite above anything. like, i try to learn every little thing about the series as i can, whether its important or not(did you know that according to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, while in morph ball mode, Samus Aran is approximately one meter tall?) but yeah, thats what i play
