just saw the end of the chicago nashville game.... HOLY CRAP!

it's 4-3 for Nashville when Hossa gets a 5 minute boarding penalty (about 1 minute left in the game).

Chicago gets the puck into the nashville zone and pull the goalie and score with about 15 seconds left to push to overtime.

Overtime: chicago kills off the rest of the major penalty and then Hossa scored on his first shift back from getting the major penalty. It was insane!

So let's see... overall you were pretty spot on for the west, Geeogree, but not so much on the east.

Round 1

West: Sharks in 6, Chicago in 6 (one off), Vancouver in 6 (still sad about that), and Detroit in 7 (that game was painful to watch).

yeah.... I was dead on for 4 out of 8 and got the winner right on another one. That's pretty good. The east was a surprise really. Philly and Montreal shouldn't have won their series... but they came and played playoff hockey and battled for their wins.

I'm glad San Jose won but 4-3 is too close for comfort. Detroit is too good to be allowed to be that close to winning.

At the very least San Jose needs to win both at home in order to have a good chance at winning the series.

I forgot to do my predictions... and this time they aren't so much predictions about what I think will happen but what I hope happens.

West:

San Jose beats Detroit in 5 or 6. Don't really care which just as long as it doesn't go to 7 and San Jose wins.

I think the reign of the Detroit Red Wings might be over. The older players on that team are running out of steam. And the younger players don't seem consistent enough yet to make up for it.

Either way, it's nice to know that the west will produce a conference champion that isn't Detroit. I bet there are some that feel the same way about the West too. Not sure if San Jose will beat Chicago though..... I'm not sure who I would want to win that series more....

Montreal takes out the defending champs 5-2 in game 7. I guess we're getting a new champ for sure this year.

I think my predictions for this round are going to be all off except for San Jose. Although, I did say my predictions were what I wanted, not what I expected. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

brutal loss for the Sharks.... I find it hard to believe that they can turn things around with the way they've played. I don't think they have a Simon Gange who can come in a turn things around. Unfortunate really.
