I just lost a pet, well it was not mine so to speak, it was my old moms dog who was not doing well.

She left me to look after sometimes and it died of old age, the vet said there was nothing left to do.

So I want to get her a new pet, but perhaps not a dog, she can't take care of a dog anymore as she cant walk it like she used to, the old dog was fine with this as it was old, but a new dog would be too much.

She does not like cats or fish, so I really cant think what to get her.

A parakeet or a budgie would be ideal.
They can talk (a lot of older people find that comforting), they tend to live to a good age, groom and bathe themselves etc.
Cleanup isnt hard, you just dump the contents of its cage into a bin and clean it out.

Totts : Ouch I feel very sorry for your old mom . I remember having a pet but it died quickly because my pet was a Guinea Pig and those kind dies very fast. Dogs can live for a long time. Anyway, you should buy her a bird!! Birds are enjoyable as pets :3. Hope I help.
