My favorite Legend of Zelda game is Ocarina of Time. I grew up playing that little guy wearing all green (and sometimes blue or red), saving the princess and sending enemies flying. It was the first game I ever actually finished. Sure Navi is a pain to the ears but other than that I just loved that game. Twilight Princess and A Link to The Past are tied.

My favorite would be A Link Between Worlds. Since the day the game released, this game has become one of my favorite games on the 3DS. It's also one of the very few games I wanted to play again after beating the final boss. As the name may imply, this game has been heavily based off the SNES adventure: A Link To The Past, A game I never got to finish. I made half-way to the Dark World, but never finished the whole thing. So, as you can see, I have next to no connection to A Link to the Past. Thankfully, the game has little to do with the original game. The story is set many years in the future, 1000 I believe. A new villain has come turning the people into paintings! Of course, its up to you to stop... him or... her? (I was never really sure.) The game brings many mechanics not seen in the franchise before. Mainly, the new systems are the Item Rental, the Stamina Bar, and become a wall painting. All of these have been imputed very well into the game give it a unique experience than other Zelda games. Finally, the plot was also interesting with a very interesting ending. This is a game you cannot pass up.

I am Gonna have to say Skyward Sword.

I mean the controls of the game took the Experience to A whole new Level.
We have all played RPG's where you 'Play the Character'
BUT in this Game you Actually Must play the Character.

You swing left -> He swings Left
You Swing right -> He swings right
You twist your wrist to angle the blade -> SO DOES HE!!

I cant tell you how many times i was playing this game I showed people that last one.
I also Can't count the Times I ripped the Nun-chuk out of the Wii-mote in particularly intense battles.

The graphics Where Also Amazing (For the Nintendo Wii)
I loved the Art style It was Bright And Vibrant when it needed to Be and Was also dark and spooky when required.

And lastly the Story Adopted the time Travel Aspect of OOT without going into it too Much and without presenting a paradox at any point. Which is A great Success for video games.(Which cannot seem to ever Use time travel in their story's without crapping all over the paradox theory)

And that is why SS is my Favorite.

Lycan212 : Just because it is unique does not mean that it is good.  And plenty of bad games have cult followings.  My point still stands

I was wondering if you would put Minish Cap on the list? (I think it deserves to be there)

Silph91 : Skyward Sword isn't unique in the moving aspect, Twilight Princess (For Wii) is like that to.

spenser1151 : The entire Legend of Zelda series is absolutely outstanding. Every game in the series is among the best games for their respective systems. Out of all these amazing games my favorite is Ocarina of Time because to me it has the best storyline in the series, and incredible soundtrack, Incredible graphics for it's time, there are loads of dungeons, and there weren't any glaring problems like the triforce hunt in Wind Waker or the poor controls in Skyward Sword. Don't get me wrong I love Wind Waker but nowhere near as much as Ocarina of Time.

I have to say that it was very hard decision between Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. But I ended up to choose that Ocarina of Time is my favorite, because it has the best soundtracks, gameplay and story in my opinion.

I voted for the original Zelda game. I was actually very surprised that I was the first one to vote for it after there had already been 20 ( give or take ) votes.

Ocarina of Time was a very fun game to play...I understand why that one has the most votes. But I played Majora's Mask for the like 5 minutes and said "Nah...this game is not for me." The only Zelda games I haven't played are the ones for the Wii, mostly because I've never owned one before.

If you know me, you'll also know that I'm very old school. Most of the games that I have played that are in a series like Zelda and Mario, nothing beats the original! Its just the way I've always been.

MattyIce : i know what you mean, it seems the general consensus is that Ocorina of Time/ A Link To The Past/ Windwaker is the best, but you never know what could happen.

I would most definitely have to say Ocarina of Time. I really wish that Nintendo would realize how much fans love this game and do more based on it. I mean, lately, with SS and the new Zelda Game, they've moved more into light colored Japanese styled stuff, which I don't like, and the settings for OOT I felt were perfect- Even Twilight Princess kindof messed up cause it was going for more mature looks, and it made characters look cartooney.

I have so many fond memories of this game.

I remember Death mountain, how it was all so. . . interesting. How you could get up to the crater early in the game, and always wondered what it was for. I also noticed how the Gorons were selling the fire tunic, which appeared like it would solve the problem- except it was an adult size. Making me wonder about the future of the game. . . would something happen that would make Link into an adult?

I also remember purchasing blue fire for 200 rupees. Wow. All just to see if it would reset the timer for us as we checked the cavern out. But it didn't and link felt a fiery death. :/

The mysterious Owl, who gave helpful rides here and there.

The game was just soooooo biiiiiiiggg. Or at least it felt that way. Even for an N64 game. I mean, each place felt like it had meaning behind it's design, like it was filled with Niknaks, and toys really. There wasn't a single unimportant area you could visit. It made the game feel so full. The only thing more I could ask for is maybe more towns, just to make it feel like. . . you know, Hyrule wasn't a single city state? :/

But ah, that's a bit much to ask for, I suppose.

This game has plenty of stuff From Zelda II, and I love it. From the sages names to a magic bar, (Not introduced in a Link to the Past.)

I just Wish Nintendo would remember this game more. :/

spenser1151 : It's a tie between OOT and MM. Ocarina of Time is loved by many fans, so do I love it, too. The game is pretty long. As for MM, this game is shorter, but it's more creative and the gameplay in this game is better. MM could have been bigger, and I'm glad Nintendo is finally remaking MM on the 3DS, and it's coming on February 13.

Ack!  This was pretty difficult for me to decide.  I remember being a little kid and playing the original Legend of Zelda, seeing the map and artwork in the booklet and just falling in love.  I remember drawing Link and Moblins, Octoroks, the Triforce etc.  This was the first game I ever kept playing and playing, and finally finished and beat.  I never would have thought a game could be any better.  Awesome music, cool items, unique story...it just had it all.

But then the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out, and I got two games at first: Super Mario World and the Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past.  Needless to say, Nintendo did not disappoint with their new console and the Legend of Zelda was brought to new life with better graphics, sound and memory.  Surely video games had reached the apex of innovation and achieved perfection.  The story was good (kind of the same, but seven maidens instead of fractions of Triforce) the music and sound effects were great (some old classics in there, just spiffied up with greater digital resolution) and also had cool new abilities (running, swimming, reading, sword spin attack, etc.) and the introduction of the Light World-Dark World structure of the game.  This was, and still is, one of my favorite games of all time.  OK, this time, there was absolutely no way this perfect release could have been improved upon.  Come on, you can't improve on perfection, right?

Wrong.  Just....wrong.  It must have been about 1997 when we got the new console by Nintendo, the Nintendo 64.  Since my dad was also a fan of the Zelda franchise, we got Super Mario 64, Goldeneye and the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.  Now I had grown quite accustomed to two dimensional game play and either bird's eye view or side scrollers, so I wasn't sure how a three dimensional space would be for a game with such strong traditions as the Legend of Zelda.  It was a perfect format for a shooter like Goldeneye, made Super Mario so much more exciting and fun for me and managed to improve on perfection with the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.  This game just exploded with so many new concepts for the series.  With the introduction of different hominid species beside the Hylians, three dimensional renderings of geographic locations on an expansive world map, horse back riding and POV archery it truly brought you deeper into a new world.  There are also games like the bombchu game, horseback archery, pick a chest, music to learn, music/memory challenges, etc. as side quests.  This game also features cinematic scenes at various points in the game that help tell the story for the player.  Because of all of these wonderful innovations, I had to choose this game as my favorite.  Haha, I remember using all the buttons and joystick on the 64 controller to make my own songs too...awesome!  Not only can you play your own notes, but the joystick acts as a sustain, utilizing vibrato, and can also be a pitch bend-enabling you to hit flats and sharps.  Everything about the game is pretty much perfect.  And so far, I don't feel like the franchise has really improved on the series.  I thought Twilight Princess was cool and all, but I found the experience and the "magic" of the game's world, more or less lacking in comparison with Ocarina of Time.

Favorite will probably be either Skyward Sword or Majora's Mask. The Motion Plus controls made Skyward Sword a ton of fun and the way they expanded on their storyline was so satisfying as a fan. Where other gamers really didn't like Majora's Mask, I appreciated the intense level of the challenge.

My most favorite Legend of Zelda game is tied between Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the reason why is that both games that was released for the Nintendo 64 I think to my point of view was the best time for the Zelda timeline was the Nintendo 64 era, with the intruduction of the new 3D world for the Zelda franchise, it really gained his popularity a whole lot more, and Ocarina of time being the first Zelda game released on the new 3D console, this has gained the series popularity up, and this is why I also like the game as well.

But my pick has to be Majora's Mask, I feel like the storyline in that game seems a little more interesting to my point of view than OoT, but that ,might just be my opinion though.

I think my favorite is the most hated one, don't know why people hate it so much.. Wanted to see similar Zelda's but that was only a fools hope. I'm talking about the Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I like that it was very challenging compared to other Zelda games I have played and the world was quite big for NES game, even though the story was quite simple I had lot of fun playing it.
