Hello there, This is actually the first review I've wrote of anything, so go easy on me please, also any improvements for future reviews would be appreciated. Thanks and enjoy!
Synopsis
Mainly taking place in a high school like most typical anime, Sakura Chiyo decides to confess her love to her fellow classmate Nozaki Umetarou. Being the oblivious guy he is he thinks she's declaring how much of a fan of his work she is. Here starts the story of a manga artist and his assistant(s).
Genre- 8/10
This definitely falls under the category of romantic comedy. I would say the comedy is the biggest focus in this however. It's very entertaining and provided me with many laughs and smiles. If you want something relaxing to watch that will give you some good slapstick humor done right this is a good fit for you. I would even go as far to say this is one of the better comedies I've watched.
Story- 9/10
For the most part you follow the main character Sakura throughout this anime, though you definitely get some points of view from the other characters. The characters being the focus of this anime. You want to see a group that works well with each other and they get that spot on here, they play off each other very well and never have a dull moment. The focus is on seven characters, some getting more attention than others but that's the way it goes. They are all unique and provide their own spotlight.
Detail- 6/10
Relatively typical for most anime, the art is modern and easy on the eyes. I wouldn't say there was anything special about how things were drawn or made. The manga aspect was neat and interesting to see. It actually gives you insight on how it's all put together so that was interesting and could be helpful for some one that's interested in how it works in general or perhaps someone who wants to practice/maybe get a job in this area or art in the future.
Music- 5/10
The music is relatively generic, nothing very new or exciting. If I'm being honest I hardly noticed it I was so focused on what the characters would say or do next. Though there is a tiny focus on singing in some parts, if you're a fan of Japanese vocals then i am sure you will enjoy it, it was a lovely voice and although I couldn't understand what was being said since it was in Japanese it was sung eloquently.
Addictiveness- 9/10
I think I finished this altogether in about 3 days. It's very easy to watch, and very charming. The characters play off each other very well and they all have endearing qualities about them and it leaves you wanting to see more interaction between them al. And thus, you will keep watching the show to see how it continues to develop! Sadly enough, it ends after twelve episodes and I'm not sure if they have announced there being a second season yet. With how delightful the cast of character is I doubt they aren't at least considering it
.
Overall- 8/10
I stepped into this thinking it was a typical romantic comedy and for the most part I was correct. Although majorly lacking in the romance side of things, they do their comedy better than I've seen in a good while and it made for a hilarious adventure. There were some cute moments here and there but the main focus is definitely the humor. It hardly bored me not even once, the main complaint I have is you always knew the cute scenes weren't as they seemed at first.
So to summarize if you are looking for a romantic comedy, that has interesting characters and is rather funny in places i recommend this one!
