So here's how this thread's going to work. You list your top 10 favourite songs, list the artists, and give a reason for why you've given the song that position. For example:

1. Ghost Love Score - Nightwish: This song is nothing short of utter epicness. Look it up and listen. You won't regret it.
2. Money For Nothing - Dire Straits: The only thing that keeps this song from being number 1 is that it's not quite as grand as Ghost Love Score. Otherwise, it's catchy, it's cool, and it's a quintessential rock song from back from the good old days.
3. Cetus - Lensko: This is an electronic song, and a damn good one. It's got an irresistible tune that keeps you hooked for a long time.
4. Paradise City - Guns & Roses: It's an awesome rock song that has not just the sweet beats, but also the heart.
5. Sweet Child o'Mine - Guns & Roses: Guns & Roses sure knows how to make awesome songs that never get old, and this one is one of their greatest.
6. Rock Me Amadeus - Falco: It's in another language, but i care not. It's got an amazing beat that you can never shake off.
7. Uprising - Muse: An epic anthem, this is an awesome song by an even more awesome band.
8. Smooth Criminal - Michael Jackson: It's a classic. Do i really need to say anything else?
9. Clubbed to Death (Kuraymino Mix) - Rob Dougan: It's a great song on an even better soundtrack to a great film. What more do you need?
10. Under Pressure - Queen: It's an emotional song that gets me every time.
Bonus: Lighters - Bad Meets Evil
That's my list, let's see what yours looks like!

10 songs... dang man, you're not making this easy for me. There's a lot of great music and great bands that won't make it on here, but I guess that comes with a top 10.

Now, I can't guarantee these songs won't have profanity. It's kind of a given, but felt like saying it. Also, these songs aren't in any particular order except for the top 3.

10.) Avenged Sevenfold - Chapter Four

It's been a while since I listened to this one, but it's one of my favorite songs from Waking the Fallen, my favorite album of theirs

9.) Delain - No Compliance

It has a mix of soft melodies and heavy tunes, all complimented by Sharon Den Adel's beautiful voice

8.) Linkin Park - Lost in the Echo

Heavy electronic sound, great vocals, and great lyrics

7.) Alice in Chains - Rain When I Die

Heavy, sludge sound, great lyrics and absolutely amazing, haunting vocals by Layne Staley (like he'd deliver anything but greatness)

6.) (Explicitly NSFW) Slipknot - Disasterpiece

Balls to the wall metal. The lyrics are a little too edgy, but otherwise it's a great song

5.) In Flames - My Sweet Shadow

Melodic metal is best metal. It's scientifically proven, just don't ask by whom =P

4.) Apocalyptica - En Vie

Soft and heavy at the same time, great incorporation of various instruments, and absolutely beautiful vocals

3.) Sick Puppies - Howard's Tale

A creepy song, no doubt, but it's great. A killer bassline throughout the entire song makes it feel heavy even when it's really quiet.

2.) Breaking Benjamin - So Cold

It doesn't matter if you listen to the acoustic or plugged version of this song, it's incredible. Terrific lyrics, great vocals, and great music.

Now, for my favorite song of all time...

1.) Nat King Cole - Love Me As Though There Were No Tomorrow

This song is absolutely beautiful. From the terrific arrangement to beautiful lyrics and amazingly smooth and powerful vocals of Nat King Cole, this is music in it's purest and most beautiful form. It simply does not get better than this.

Boxia : man this was so hard since i'm a big music fan
1. would be My Dearest by Super Cell cause this song is very happy and sad at the same time and gives of a nostalgic feeling as it's the opening theme of an anime.

2. Burn by Ellie Goulding it's just a very nicely done song and i love it

3. The Ever Lasting Guilty Crown by The EGOIST This song is pretty depressing and sad as it shows a ton of emotion as well.

4. But if you close your eyes by Pompeii it's a very sweet song and i like it a lot

5. Beach by San Cisco i pretty love all their songs but this one is the my favourite

6. Boomerang by The Summer Set eve though i don't care for love songs i really enjoyed hearing this one.

>7. New Day, New Life by Kokia this a very well done song about sadness and perserverence.

8. Emotional by Mirai Nikki *don't remember the actual band* this is a very sad song done on piano and you'll get it if you understand the title.

9. Yuna's Ballad by *forgot the guy's name* it's a sad piano song as well because Yuna is a very great character.

Boxia : These are my top 10 in no particular order to be honest mostly because to try and make a top 10 list...well it would hurt my brain LOL.

10. Ghost Love Score So epic, so awesome, whenever I game and do something awesome I just have to do the epic maneuver theme in my head every time it happens LOL.

9. Diggy Diggy Hole, The Yogscast are a group that know how to make a good music video, and this one is my favorite, taking what was a joke song and turning it into a Dwarven Mining Song of pure awesome that whenever I play minecraft and are deep in the mines I can't help but go out and sing it

8. Blue, this is a song that whenever I think of the 90's this is the song that comes to mind, primitive CGi lyrics that are easy to remember and a pretty cool band, its a song that makes me go Da ba dee da ba die all day every day.

7. Take on me, speaking of songs that remind me of a decade, this is the song of the 80's, the awesome music video is one I always come back and a song I sing when I'm on the road alone and just wanting to pass the time as I keep moving. I love it and in my eyes I will always see it as the symbol of the 80's

6. Cartoon Heroes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sva1pHOrl30&list=PL8Ql1jO8kiWu4bVndcgoAYn0akmgu8Wsc&index=44 you want a good AMV just add this song to it, just like this as a child of the 90's I grew up seeing many different anime and of course the many anime I see today, I can't help but sometimes close my eyes and play this song in my head and remember the times as a kid sitting back on the couch watching some of these strange animations from another land. Also it was a hell of a song to try and play DDR on.

5.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIlviCLh3m0&list=PL8Ql1jO8kiWu4bVndcgoAYn0akmgu8Wsc&index=80 Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's ending theme (don't know the name) Ok long story short Gokaiger is the 35 Sentai out of Japan, Sentai is the original footage used for power Rangers, and Sentai has been around sine 1975. Basically this Ending theme goes through all the previous teams up to the 35th, the Pirate Sentai Team, and it is such a catchy tune, show casing each member in a quick and simple fashion. It certainly makes me want to check out the old Sentai thats for sure.

4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBxCl2TJNnQ&list=PL8Ql1jO8kiWu4bVndcgoAYn0akmgu8Wsc&index=58 The Bards Song (Van Canto cover) As a player of Dnd and a user of the Bard Class, this is the song that speaks to me....its a good song and makes me want to roll some more dice with my friends.

3. One More time, Daft punk knows how to make a good song, and seeing this song in the Music Anime Movie (yes an anime movie using nothing but their songs to tell the story) does nothing more then to set the mood to an awesome adventure so much so I can't help but say "One more time" and replay it

2. Harder Better Faster Stronger, another one by Daft Punk that I love, but not their version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWjXiXKzvis&list=PL8Ql1jO8kiWu4bVndcgoAYn0akmgu8Wsc&index=64, this version is the one I will always listen to over and over again.

1. I'm the Scatman. I love this song, first time I've heard it I've fallen in love with the Scat Jazz of the Late Scatman John, an awesome beat and awesome lyrics, this is one song that will stick with you all day every day

Ok as a bonus to this I need to add this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWUp2MhVvwQ&list=PL8Ql1jO8kiWu4bVndcgoAYn0akmgu8Wsc&index=90

Star Wars Disco...no really, way back when, they made a Disco remix of Star Wars music...no really check it out my treat to ya.

I'm more of a rock guy so I'll leave out the instrumentals, movie themes, etc.

In no particular order:

Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm. This is the only Michael Jackson cover that is better than than the original song.  It's got great timing and pace and fires me up on cold long runs.

Black Keys - Gold on the Ceiling. This is a rowdy tune that makes me think of heavy drinking in a dive bar with a live band.  It's atmospheric and I picture barmaids with tight shirts and all mix of men, women, and couples sharing the space and just kicking back with life.

Soundgarten - Spoonman. Soundgarten encapsulates 90s rock more than any other band and Spoonman is one of their flagship songs.  Also, they play the spoons.

Tool - Und Keine Eier. This is a song that has an angry man exhorting a crowd in heavy German.  The joke is it's a recipe for "Satan's Eggs," a pastry/dessert piece that is chock full of butter and flour.  We made them and they're incredible.  Youtube the song with the translation.  The actual words compared to the tone is hilarious.  It was a good joke.

Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA.  When I lived in Boston, my wife and I went to the "Michigan" bar to watch college football.  It was the alumni bar for the Wolverines and everyone had that same background in that they all went to school together.  We went every week for free buffet.  We also had the same seats, I got to play the cowbell, and the bartenders knew us well enough to pour free shots of Jose down our throats when Michigan scored.  After the game, they had a set of six songs and Miley was the first one.  I was always drunk, ready to dance, and this song makes me happy.

Brother Iz - Somewhere over the rainbow. My wife connects this song with Dr. Green's death in ER but to me it represents home.  When we lived in Hawaii, she liked Jason Mraz's I'm yours.  But this is my world.

TI - Whatever you like. I like the hip hop that came out of the 2001-2005 era.  My friend who's in the music industry calls it the Golden Age of Hip Hop.  All those songs are fun, they're all high energy, and no one is shooting cops or each for the most part.  TI's song is slow paced and tells it how it is.  He promises a woman he loves everything under the son.  That's love.

Dr. Dre - Next Episode.  Before all these "let the beat drop" songs came into play, Dr. Dre did it first.  The transition and hook were insane.  As soon as you heard, "Hold up" and got the pause, your head bobbed with the beat.  It had to.

Martin Garrix - Animals.  I like techno too and I got made fun of for that fact when I was in Boston.  The energy, the versatility, the speed and depth of Martin Garrix's Animals makes it no wonder it is so popular for clubs, bars, bands, and samples.  It keeps people engaged and flows effortlessly from heavy to light to heavy.

Metallica - Enter Sandman.  There is one reason I like this song.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blzftASduNc  Music is strongly attached to memories and there is very little I like more than college football.  Even if you don't like football, watch the first 1:10.  It's about 50,000 people who have a specific color on their shirt becoming best friends over the actions of 22 strangers in front of them.  The energy builds and builds and these people don't know each other but they're all in it together.  Sports is insane that way.

HONORABLE MENTIONS DUE TO THEIR ATMOSPHERIC NATURE: Blood of Chuchulainn/Boondock Saints theme.  Promontory/Last of the Mohicans theme.  Ave Maria.  Gary Jules/Mad World.  Room of Angel/Silent Hill 4: The room

1. Heroes of the Waterfalls' Kingdom by Rhapsody of Fire
- All time favorite song. It starts off as a light Italian song about nature and quickly becomes epic. This song is the final song of The Dark Secret Saga and includes the 15-year long Algalord Chronicles.

2. Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness by Rhapsody of Fire
- Just as good as Heroes of the Waterfalls' Kingdom, but with a worse narrator. It starts off with a lone light guitar and quickly becomes epic. This song is the final song of The Emerald Sword Saga.

3. Elysium by Stratovarius
- A song that makes you think about life and what is to come after it. Someone sets off on a journey, but falls before he can complete it.

4. The Mystic Prophecy of the Demonknight by Rhapsody of Fire
- The first five minutes of this song is so incredible that they made a song just out of this song. Awesome narrations and contains various vocal styles.

5. Of Michael the Archangel and Lucifer's Fall by Luca Turilli's Rhapsody
- The depiction of an ambiguous story of someone ascending to infinity guided by Michael the archangel.

6. The Ancient Fires of Har-Kuun by Rhapsody of Fire
- The heroes from the Dark Secret Saga enter this ancient fortress called Har-Kuun, where we see the true evil that lies within.

7. Theater of Salvation by Edguy
- The story of someone on a quest for salvation - true salvation. He is not ready to die just yet but he is pressured to enter the kingdom of heaven.

8. The Seven Angels by Avantasia
- A seal is stolen by the protagonist in the mystic land of Avantasia, and this awakens Angels who set out to wreck havoc on the land.

9. The Pharaoh by Edguy
- The intro has a middle-eastern feel to it and overall a great riff-heavy song by the band.

10. Destiny by Stratovarius
- This is the first song I heard by this band which made me indulge into this genre of music, leading me to find the other nine songs on this list.
