What do you think is the greatest song in a Super Nintendo game? Find that game, find the music within that game and record it! I plan to do at least a total of 5 system specific music competitions over the next 12-15 months.


MEGA Competition:
This is going to be classified as a Mega competition because not only do 5 people get prizes but there's also cash prizes. The MEGA Competitions have returned for this summer.


RULES and INFO:
-You can submit up to 10 submissions
-Each submission needs to be 1 video
-All of the votes that each of your submissions get add up to your total vote count
-You can only do 1 song per a game
-Your video must be shorter than 5 minutes
-Your video cannot contain more than 1 song
-You can not edit your video in any way, it needs to be raw footage
-Be sure to let me know in this thread which videos you've uploaded
-Be sure to specify which game each submission is for
-Your videos must be uploaded to the vizzed youtube account
-You must record your videos with the RGR Plugin
-You may use cheats to get to the song you're looking for
-You may do the same game as someone else but not the same song for the same game
-You may use your submissions from previous music competitions
-You cannot do the same song as someone else, even if the same song belongs to a different game (unless the song sounds significantly different)
-You must add your video to the game's page (which should happen automatically when you upload your video to the vizzed youtube account)
-Once the competition is over, this will go into voting and we will figure out who the winner is by tallying up the votes of all of their submissions.
-We're ignoring all submissions from past music competitions which means you may submit any song from any game even if it was submitted to a previous competition
-Your submission should have as few sound effects as possible (so try not to move or fight enemies and use the sound test whenever possible)
-If 2 users submit the same song to this competition, whichever user uploaded their video to the Vizzed YouTube account first gets credit


FAQ:
Q: Can I use music from a hacked game?
A: Music from hacked and homebrew games do not count.

Q: Do ported games count?
A: Yes they do.


Tip: If the game lets you listen to each song from the game on the options screen (sometimes referred to as the sound test page), you may do your recording from that. You may also mute all sounds (some games support this in the options) for when you're playing on the level that has the music you want to capture.

Tip 2: It is suggested that you try not to make too many noises in the game when you're attempting to record the music, other noises would be a distraction and will lower the chances of your song from being voted for. If possible, try to stand still on a level.

Tip 3: To record video with Super Nintendo on Vizzed, play the game normally and then click the 'Play using Mednafen' link at the top left of the play window.

Tip 4: Before adding a song, check the game's page in the Retro Game Room to see if someone has already submitted that song for that game.

1st = US $50 or 75,000 Viz
2nd = US $25 or 37,500 Viz
3rd = 10,000 Viz
4th = 5,000 Viz
5th = 2,500 Viz

Cash Prizes:
The cash Prizes can be paid out in a few ways. I can purchase a membership on a website for you somewhere, I can order something for you off of amazon, I can send you the money via Paypal, I can buy you Microsoft Points, Nintendo Points or Playstation Points and send you the code, I can buy you an Amazon gift card and send you the code, etc.

Is this cheating if it is just a song port? I mean, it is a SNES game.

Davideo7 : Am I allowed to record Video and Audio separately? I'd be using the RGR plugin for both, but merge the 2 different files. This way I would be able to use gameplay footage without the game SFX playing up as well, only the actual song would play.

RetroGameNinja : That doesn't count since it's not on the Vizzed YouTube account. Also, Homebrew games don't count.

I would LOVE to be a part of this, but here are some problems.
When I record through the RGR program, It lags me horribly, then the video turns out bad.
It will take me many hours to upload without adding compression
I cannot use my FRAPS to do this, so I'm basically screwed for this contest.

Going to find one more. I know I didn't exactly stay still on the Star Fox one, but the sounds effects are much quieter than the music, so I feel it adds to it. Also, the enemies make more noise than your own blasters do, so avoiding shooting doesn't make the music easier to hear.

Davideo7 : Are my submissions fine this way? I simply converted the videos to 720p because the audio was stuttering and so that it wouldn't be cut on the edges. Just making sure since I'd hate being DQ'd over nothing.

All submissions have to be videos that you personally made using the Vizzed RGR Plugin, and you have to submit the video to Vizzed Youtube and upload it to the game's page.
