I the show they used Fly by jumping really high and were able to kinda hang up there for a couple of seconds but they couldn't fly like most of the bird pokemon.

I've also wondered why Rhydon & Aggron could learn Surf. That's just weird. They're both part rock although I could possibly forgive Aggron's steel type because of Empoleon. You'd think they would sink or something or at least be afraid of water.
