Alright, so it's summer and I guess this is (or was) the time to go out and do what I want. Finally learn something that I want to learn outside of the school's curriculum. To do stuff that I love to do. There's just one problem.

II'm not sure what to do.

There are things I am good at and that I like to do. Math and Science. Baseball/Athletic stuff. Playing my instrument. Video games, etc.
I enjoy all these things, but it seems as though everyone around me just picks one and absolutely loves doing it non-stop. Many of my friends love to play video games, and although many of us would agree that it isn't the most productive or useful thing, at least they are satisfied with it. Another one of my friends plays his instruments non-stop, and is extremely math/science/engineering skilled related. He loves being 1st chair in band, and loves being in robotics club. There are also my sports friends who do sports and it seems that is all they do. Almost all of them get bad grades and they just don't care because they have dreams of going pro.

I love all these things. School, Instruments, Video Games, Sports, and now, coding. There isn't one that I don't want to do but I simply don't have enough time to become great in all of these areas. I lack the energy, or possibly ambition, to do every single on of these. To practice every single one. When it comes down to it, I can't decide. I felt this problem was unique and hopefully you guys could help me out a bit.

I would say that it is an overambitious goal, and that I struggle with a similar scenario below my belt, so to speak. Here is how I am trying to cope with this though. I set time away for the things that are "mandatory", and make sure I do those first. Then, I set aside a schedule for the things I like to do that are "non-mandatory", and I try to give each of them their fair share of time. This ensures that you get the important matters over and done with, and that you can spend a lot of time doing the things you like, as well as equally distribute your time amongst those extras. I still would not recommend dropping any of it, as it is a great part of you. Everything is a part of you, and if you drop something, you lose a piece of that whole. What I have given is not a great solution, but it is a fix that "could" potentially help you through this. If it ends up being too much, then put away something for a while, but do not lose sight of it. Keep it together, and eventually it will all work out. Or, at least, that's what I tell myself.

Slythion, I am almost exactly like you. It's like the expression, "Jack of all trades, master of none".

I got semi-serious into: Guitar, piano, harmonica, accordion, knife throwing, darts, kendama, music composition, stunt kite flying, body-building, chess, mnemonics, reading classics, slight of hand, Latin, writing, dance, Linux, video games, astrology, snowboarding, running, anime and the list goes on. I didn't simply do a little of them... often I would spend money on them and 'take it seriously' for several weeks or months. Then eventually I put it on the back-burner and only do it once in a while. I am above beginner lever at all of those things, but I can't get "into" any of them like most people can for an extended period of time. I'll pick them up few days or weeks here and there but I don't have the time or energy to do them all.

I wish I could really get INTO one of those things, and it be my 'thing'... I never can. I finally realized, there's nothing wrong with being a Jack of All Trades, it makes you very interesting and flexible; but if I want to change, only I can do that.  So I'm now focusing on a few of those things, music specifically. The other things, I do simply for fun when I have extra time, but I don't try to make them my 'thing' anymore.

I don't think you have "too much" motivation, I just think you are easily interested in anything and easily has ambition for them, and then lack the energy and motivation to do them all. Maybe a little focus and control over your life is what you need? Like me.
