As the thread title says, are you more of a talkative person, or one who prefers to listen and observe?

I don't know why, but I have always been more of a solitary, quiet person. I don't really talk a lot unless it is required, or if there is something serious on my mind that is troubling me and I would just like to get it off my chest. I am the type of person that would listen to someone else's problems and complaints and try to offer advice or support if I can't always find a solution.

I talk to my friends normally though, but when it comes to talking to new people or even trying to find conversation, I get rather uncomfortable. I prefer communicating in a less direct/confrontational manner, maybe that's just because of the technology today but that's just the way I am...I've never been good with striking up the simplest of conversation...perhaps that might change when I get older.

Long story short I have always been a listener rather than a talker and I don't see a problem with it.

So which one are you?

I am more of a listener than a talker. I rarely like to talk to people unless it is someone I like or am comfortable with. I usually just listen to people when they talk, and I rarely try to be more talkative. Even when I do try, I tend to feel very uncomfortable and shy. I just end up listening more than I talk.

I am more of a listener than a talker. Listening is what I have been doing for as long as I can remember. Most people would rather talk rather than listen in general. I do think that both have their pros and cons but it is a challenging and difficult task to balance both.

I like to listen. The quote " You'll learn a lot more listening than you will talking " rings true to me.

It's interesting that all of the listeners are posting here...

I too am a listener. You can learn a lot about the people around you by just listening to what they say. Most times when people are talking to me, I won't say much unless I feel like I have something useful to add to the conversation or I'm asked a direct question. Sometimes I get the feeling that I come across as unfriendly or mean because I don't actively participate in random conversations and that used to bother me. As a matter of fact, it bothered me so much that I would force myself to make idle chit-chat, which in turn bothered me even more. I stopped doing that a while back and learned to be comfortable with silence for the most part.

The only people now that I consider myself talkative around are my kids. I'm not exactly sure why but it's probably an unconditional love thing.

The whole thing is probably psychological.

We all say we're listeners but we're actually talkers in this thread, how the irony comes~

But on a more serious note; I'm a bit of both depending on the situation. If someone needs to talk about something, whether it's a problem they've got or anything like that, I'll happily listen and then become the talker after that to help them with their problem. I'm more of a talker when I'm talking about something that I'm passionate about, like just five minutes ago I finished an essay, on a forum, about pricing Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and what sites you should and shouldn't use - as a prime, and fresh, example of this.

I am more of a listener than a talker, I never really talk that much anyway (even though people want me too...) Even with people I am used to being around with, I still hardly talk.

Sparky15756 : Well I hardly post so.... yeah lol.

I'm more of a listener but I do talk... Secondly it really depends on my mood. Sometimes I just want to shut up all day long just because I want to.

Juliet :
dat layout ó.ò

I'm more of a talker, well, sometimes, most of the times I have a hard time talking because it feels weird when I got used to shut up for the minute and then when I try to talk, I'm very quiet and I just can't talk, this is usually at the table when eating. lol

I would say talker but I used to be more of a listener when I was younger. I rarely talked when I was little and I think I grew out of it. I talk to anyone and everyone and don't care if it is weird or not.

Uusally i'm a listener. I only really talk when the situation calls for it. That means social situations or times when my opinion is wanted.

I think I'm a healthy mixture of both.

I genuinely enjoy listening to people (regardless of their interests or gender), which can sometimes make me feel a bit different from a LOT of other guys. I always do my best to empathize with people when it comes to their problems, concerns, or just their lives in general. But I can also be really talkative, engaging, and outgoing. I just have to be in the right mood (usually getting in the right mood involves drinking lots of coffee).

Wow everyone was is or at least partly is a listener. We aren't social people but we made a conversation about not being social. If that's not a win I don't know what is.

I am a listener (Big surprise O.O). I don't really talk unless talked to unless I am just bored and want to start problems. Then I don't shut up until someone basically tells me to. In a group I won't say much but if its just 2 people (me being one) and I now that you aren't a judgey person or are just as weird as me then I will talk your ear off.

supercool22 : I assume that you won't care to listen but let me say that you are my hero for breaking the boundaries that we have put ourselves in. We believed that we either had to be a talker or a listener but you sir have taken that and thrown it out the window. Right after shooting the 2 choices with a flamethrower. Bravo Supercool22 Bravo.
