I was looking to see if this thread had already been made or not, but I could not find one, so I thought I would go ahead and make it.

I never skipped a grade while I was going to school. My parents and my teachers wanted me to skip 6th grade. I refused. Then, they wanted to me to skip 8th grade, but I refused again. I wanted to get the most of my school years.

How about you? Did you ever skip a grade while you were in school?

I have never skipped a single grade, and I will never even think of doing so. Especially for my senior year which will be in about 2016-2017. Like you, I wanted every school year that you can get, from K-12, that's 13 years, and that is quite a long time.

Stevie 764 : Does graduating from High School a semester early count as skipping a grade? I would have basically just been sitting in the classes since I had all of my requirements and passed the required number of classes in order to graduate.

I never really skipped a grade before, but I have had something like that happen to a friend of mine, and she moved to a different school to get to a higher grade. But me? I never have done anything like that. My GPA was barely over 3.000

I simply have never skipped a grade in school. However, math is my favorite subject, and I'm really good at it. I was always a level (or two) ahead of my peers. I've been put in plenty of AP math classes throughout middle and high school. I remember the first time I took an Algebra class was in 7th grade. Most of my friends had never even heard of the word Algebra until high school XD

But I guess its not good enough to be good at just one subject to have them let you skip a grade, so I had to go through it all. Kindergarten to 12th grade. Good times...

thing1 : I never skipped a grade too, but I took honors classes throughout my school years, so it was like I was able to skip some grades, but nobody asked me if I wanted to, so I did not skip any grades. It must be nice that someone recognized (your teachers) your intelligence from a bunch of people.

I could've skipped a grade when I was in kindergarten or first grade, one of the two, but my parents decided not to, personally I am happy with their decision because I don't like the idea of being separated with my friends and then being thrown into the next grade with a bunch of kids a year older than me. I don't think it would make much of a difference really, you just start college one year earlier the way I see it, and there aren't any additional benefits. Technically I already have all the credits required to graduate 2 years in advance (that's probably not the same thing but still)

I would be graduating in 2016, and I value the time I have left with my friends and my classes before I start my college life. In short, I had the right grades to potentially skip a grade, but I think the right choice was made in not doing so.

No. Well, sorta. In a way. Allow me to explain. I am in all honors classes (except for AP World History). The classes that I am in are the same classes that the non-honors classes of the grade ahead of me is taking. So technically no, but in a way I have skipped a grade.

Well, I skipped preschool and I think I possibly skipped kindergarten but I don't remember. But I'm 100% sure I skipped preschool. (If that counts)

I'm 15 and everyone in my class is currently 16. I'm turning 16 soon but most people in my class are turning 17 soon. And I'm going to 11th grade.

I never skipped a grade before. I probably don't have a chance to skip a grade, but even if I did, I wouldn't skip one. I would like to stay with friends, and I want to experience every grade in school.

I've never skipped a grade, even though i've done very well in school since grade 4. I don't plan on skipping a grade, either. I prefer to share a classroom with people of my age group. I'd feel like an alien in a room full of older people.

Although I had enough credit hours, I never gave much thought to skipping a grade.

I was on the younger end of my graduating class, and I needed each and every one of those years to mature socially.

I have never actually skipped a grade. However, despite not knowing if I was legitimately qualified to skip a grade, my 6th grade teacher once walked up to me and asked me if I wanted to skip up to 7th grade, even reaffirming that he was being serious. I ended up saying no, as I felt it was important that I went through each grade.. I was already the youngest person in 6th grade, I would be super young if I skipped.

Technically I could've skipped a whole bunch of grades, but when I was little I was never mature enough. In fact, I had to be homeschooled a lot because I could never handle going to school. Nowadays I could definitely skip a few grades but I don't want to leave all my friends.

So no, I haven't skipped a grade. I could have but it wouldn't have worked out. I still could skip at least 1 grade right now, but I have many friends I don't want to leave.

Technically, I haven't skipped a grade, but I did start up kindergarten one year earlier than I would have been had I been going to school instead of homeschooling. I think I would be in the correct grade in certain places, but where we live, the age cutoff would have had me one year behind where I was.

I skipped a grade of math, and it was really cool because A) I got to meet a bunch of people others my age didn't and B) there's an extra grade of math in my school (it goes pre-calculus grades 8-12, then calculus 12) that I wanted to take, and this means that I didn't have to go to summer school or take pre-calc 12 in first semester then calculus in the second semester. This way, I can take an extra class or a spare without losing time or Summer. I would never skip a whole grade though. Not just because I'm not quite smart enough, but because that's fewer classes I can take.
