Pokemon Final Flames Revamped is a hack of Pokemon Emerald created by Deadend136, in which you have the opportunity to catch all new Pokemon, and have the choice of one of three unique starters: Vulpix, Eevee, or Growlithe - each of them holding a Fire Stone.

I will be updating as I play to keep this guide as accurate and detailed as possible.

Getting Started

First thing you want to do is make sure your keyboard controls are configured the way you want them. To do this, double click on the game screen and see the list of available buttons and the keys they correspond with. To change the keys, click once in the text box beside the Button type and press the key you would like to use for it. No deleting required. Once you have that configured the way you like it, you can move on to the game.

On the title screen, press A and select New Game to begin. The game starts off in the usual Pokemon way, with Professor Birch going on his soap box. When prompted, choose a gender and name for your character. After that, your adventure will begin.

Contrary to what Prof. Birch and your Mom have told you, the town that you begin in is NOT called Littleroot - in fact, it is called Starlight Town. You will find a few errors like this in the dialogue, but it's easy to figure out once you realize it. When you are able, hop on out of the back of that moving truck and follow Mom inside. When she prompts you to, take the stairs at the back of the room to enter your bedroom, and set your clock. Mom will come in and tell you to check everything on your desk, and that is when you can access your PC and take out the Potion that's sitting in your Item Storage. It will come in handy for future battles. **Note: Since your Starter begins at only Lvl. 3, you may be tempted to use your Potions early on. Don't. Just return to your house and talk to your Mom to heal your Pokemon if it's in danger of fainting.** You can also check the Town Map on the wall beside the desk to get a feel for the new names of all the towns in this version of the game.

Once you've finished checking out your room, head back downstairs to talk to your Mom. She will tell you to go next door and introduce yourself to Prof. Birch. Go ahead and make your way outside and to the next house on your right, but the Prof. won't be there. Instead, after speaking to his wife, head upstairs to their daughter's room and interact with the Pokeball on the ground to meet May. When she finishes talking to you and goes to sit at her PC, go back outside and head North to the town's exit. When you pass the little girl in the path, she will tell you that she heard some wild Pokemon and ask you to go check it out. When you do, you will see Prof. Birch being chased by a wild Zigzagoon. Check his bag, and you will get to choose your Starter Pokemon.

Your choices are Vulpix, Eevee, and Growlithe, and each of them is holding a Fire Stone. This lets you evolve them as soon as you get them if you want to, but I do not recommend it. There are many moves for the basic Pokemon to learn before they should evolve, so I would wait until later in the game. The exception would be Eevee: if you want a Flareon, it is best to evolve it early so that it can learn its Fire-type moves sooner. Flareon learns Ember at Lvl. 16, so evolving it anytime before then is a good idea. After you pick your Pokemon, you will enter into battle with the wild Pokemon. It is only at Lvl. 2, so it is very easy to beat. Once it's defeated, you will be taken back to Birch's Lab, where he will award you the Pokemon you chose and prompt you to go meet May in the field. You will find her on Route 103, so start heading North to find her.

Once you reach Water Town, you will find your first Pokemon Center. Go inside and talk to the Nurse behind the desk to heal your party to full health. Back outside, you will notice a man in a white apron standing beside the house directly to your right. Talk to him, and he will lead you to the PokeMart, leaving you with a Potion as a promotional gift. Nevermind that the PokeMart looks exactly like toe Pokemon Center - this is a glitch in the coding and is fixed for future towns to look like the standard blue-roofed building. You can go inside and buy more Potions, Antidotes, Parlyz Heals, or Awakenings, but I would save your money for now. You should already have two Potions saved up, so that should be enough for your battle with May. Make your way further north onto Route 103 to find her, all the way up until you reach the dead end.

Talk to May, and you will initiate a battle. Instead of having a Water-type to combat your fire, May has a Lvl. 5 Miltank that you must beat - warning. This will be tougher than it seems. Due to Miltank's natural attack and defense properties, I would recommend training your Pokemon to Lvl. 8-10 in order to beat it. This is also where your Potions will come in handy. Once you beat May, follow her back to Starlight and the Birch Pokemon Lab. Once there, Birch and May will award you with a Pokedex and Pokeballs - now you get to catch all those cool Pokemon you trained against! Head back outside and go back to your house to talk to your Mom outside the door. She will give you a pair of running shoes, which will allow you to run instead of walk by holding the B button. When you have all that, go catch some Pokemon, stock up at the Pokemart in Water Town, and head West to Route 102.
