Whenever I go into the equip menu, the game freezes, the music continues, but the letters stay in place and nothing happens whatsoever and I have to load my save state! Please, is there a way to stop it? And can you help me by telling me? Thanks in advance!

What do you mean that you have to upload your save state?  Do you mean that when the game freezes, it won't LET you load your save state?  Or can you load it and then the problem is gone?

rooney03 : I can help you with this problem, it's really easy and you will need to do this every time you play the game.

First, load the game. You do not need to load your save file yet. When the game has loaded, you need to open the emulator screen by pressing "Esc". On the Emulator screen, you need to check the PAL box. Then proceed to choose Mario RPG from the rom choices and press "LOAD". Your game will reload and all of your saved data will be accessible.

The reason why this works is due to the differences in the American and Japanese versions of the game. Japan runs the game in 50 frames per a second while the American (Non-PAL) runs it in 60 frames. The increased frame rate makes the game unstable when you fight certain bosses and visit the item/equipment menus.

Keep in mind, you'll need to use PAL every time you play. The game does not automatically load PAL, you will need to do this manually each time. If you need further assistance, feel free to respond to my post as I am very familiar with Mario RPG.

Fireproof : ok, I got it! but just one question, where is the PAL and USA version swap button?

rooney03 : PAL is the 50 frame rate version. The game is the USA version. You still play the USA version in 50 frame rates. You just press "Esc" when you load the game and look at the bottom right.
