What do you think? It could be possible but I don't think you could teleport a living organism. It would die in the process unless you found a way to somehow sustain it's life force as went through the separation beam.

It is certainly an interesting topic, especially since I have a great appreciation for science, but in all honesty I think it would be best to just keep this sort of stuff out of the reach of humans because we have seen what happens when we discover new and powerful things that are best kept away from us.....If it were to become a reality, then I could easily see humans abusing it and teleporting bombs, weapons, people and a bunch of other war related items...as if we really need all that. 

As cool as it would be, I think its best if we didn't discover it because it would do more bad than good the way I see it, but that's just me.

It would be cool if you would be able to teleport but there would be many risks. First of all, you have to make sure that you don't teleport into a tree or something like that. You also have to make sure that you have enough space as otherwise your body will fall apart. Lastly, how will you teleport back? There are too many difficulties about it. The way I see it now, I think it's nearly impossible.

No, I don't think that this is possible. To be able to be desolved and be send to a different place on earth if just crazy to me so I am not someone who believe is that. Your entire forum just can't be sent from one place to the next, so you'd have to be broken down and then sent and be made again.

apeman : Just like other technologies have grown, so too I would believe that teleportation would. The odds of it being a painless process during its early stages are very low, but I believe with time and effort that it would be able to become a painless process that nearly ensures that you live 100% of the time.

I think that it wouldn't be painful or any feeling at all, because it would essentially be tearing the atoms apart and that would separate your whole body including nerves and nerve receptors and everything which has to do with feeling and thinking and anything. So really if it was possible, you'd probably be "put back" as a vegetable that would have no thoughts or movements, only a physically "alive" person and that's only if it could be done. Thoughts would be impossible to "teleport" because they arent a physical thing, thoughts are electical signals in your brain, but electricity is (I'm pretty sure at least) ionized particles, so it would be able to teleport the electricity, but would that give us our concious and unconsious thoughts after the teleportation?

I think teleportation is sort of translation of an object from one place to another.

I don't know, it might be possible but one his/her organs should keep working during and after the teleportion. That might not be possible as you have to move an object so things like air and blood need to be moved correctly as well.

I think it is possible. I mean, just look at the old Willy Wanka and the Chocolate Factory movie. If society has learned anything, television always tells us truth.

apeman : Oh... instantaneous.... That's ridiculous then. To make an object move between two locations like that would require insane amount of acceleration(force accordingly) and velocity. Maybe it could help move ridiculously small distances, but it would destroy anything for any economical speed and distance.

Now to fight against this problem. it seems that turning the thing into soup(not very tasty but well) and then getting the soup instantaneously transferred becomes a plausible option. Well... that is more disastrous. It means that you now even to tackle with problem of quantum mechanics(where things are not determined like laws and your electron can even spend a little time inside the nucleus) For things which are chemically a mixture of compounds- get ready to tackle problem of possible chemical reactions and correcting them back to correct compounds. Obviously you can imagine now what will happen to a living being's soup which is full of variety of compounds and elements that can react and all. I am sure I don't have to talk about teleporting a human now.

Anyways, in all of my words, I haven't introduced the complication of energy. Now if I do so, using insane amount of force in the first scenario directly means huge amount of work done(and bigger distance directly implies more work done too) and i am sure that you already know that this means huge energy changes(mention small amount of time here, and here you have huge power). And that will mean, well good amount of heating up, and well i leave the rest to your pondering.

In the second scenario, there already will be humongous amount of forces used to tear apart the object into a soup, and more the division you want(you can have simple compounds, atoms, electrons and nucleuses, electrons proton neutrons,or if you want to go too deep, you may find varieties of particles which are part of quantum mechanics) the more forces used and that again implies lots of energy changes. Since things will be now at the level of quantum mechanics, weird things like quantum tunnelling can present problems in moving the soup of particles. Then reassembling the object again will take at least the same energy change as destroying them.

Ok, now the third scenario could be... making a wormhole for teleportation. Worm hole, though not observed yet, is possible by science(yes, theory of relativity makes it possible) and that works by distorting space time in a way that space is "contracted" and well then it's a matter of walking by and there you are ! But arguments against this? Google wormhole and that should be enough

So teleportation may be possible, but certainly not feasible or very, very, very^"many numbers" useless. That doesn't mean that research shouldn't be done on it. We could find something good in the research for teleportation that may end up very useful in future.

It really is a Science Fiction thing come to life. Is it possible? I really doubt it, but it all depends on what the science research does and how it evolves from now, and here on out. I really hope so, though, it's really cool.

I'm more worried about the consequences of it. Would it be the same you that exists after teleportation? It seems like you're being killed by the process before you're put back together. Even if it recreates a working "you", what if the "real" you dies the second your atoms are ripped apart?

Maybe I'm thinking into it too deeply, but that is what worries me most.

I think there is actual unexplained cases of people appearing in different locations. With some of them taking place long ago

According to Physics there are many possibilities, but none that would really work. One is a "Portal" they wouldn't call it that, but it is the same principle. They haven't discovered any as of yet. (Physicists might call the portal an "Einstein Rosen-bridge.")

The other is removing data from your cells, using supercomputers, and transferring the data to other cells. This won't work, because it couldn't transmit the soul, or spirit.

I don't think it will ever, on this earth, be possible to teleport from on spot to any place.

thing1 : and like i said, in order to teleport, your body would be disenagrated into trillions of little molecules. said molecules then fly through the air at the speed of light. and if they come into contact with a another person, there's a high chance of accidentally mixing up you two's DNA.
