                And what did you want to do about the Thursday game thing? Put them up, but give people until Friday night at midnight server time ( turning into Saturday ), and if they don't call it, automatic loss, since we said we were going to do all 256 games? That way, we can accommodate both requests for all of the games, and more time to make your picks.

thing1 : Ok. Fair enough...no spread. And ALL 256 games will be available. I will try to make it possible for EVERY person to pick ALL 256 games, whatever it may take. Every person will have 256 picks at the end of the year.

And as for the deadline for the Sunday games, lets make it noon ET on Sunday. That way, if anybody gets hurt or if the weather changes or something like that, you might be able to make a smarter pick. It would be cool to actually close the thread at that time, too. You think that would be possible?

MattyIce : There are Saturday games though, so if people do not put a pick down in time, will they get an automatic loss for the Saturday game(s) as well? 

So, just to make sure I understand what you are saying, Matty, if I put my picks for all the games before the Thursday game starts, I am eligible for a win in every game. If I post my picks after the Thursday game, I automatically lose the Thursday game. If I post after the Saturday game before the deadline, I automatically lose the Saturday game? That just seems a little to confusing me.

How about we just set this now? Lets just say that the deadline is Saturday at noon server time, and leave it at that. If you don't post, you lose all the games. You are allowed to miss the Thursday game prediction, but if you post after it starts, automatic loss. 

Fair enough? 

And seeing as how the Hall of Fame game is on the 3rd, that means that the Pre-Season, HOF week thread will need to be made by the 28th, and will close at noon server time on the 2nd. 

I think what we can do, to avoid confusion, if you are O K with it, is just let me do all of the posting, and you can moderate and make sure people don't cheat. I think that suits both of our strong suits for this site. 

I'd like to sign up.  Have you thought about registering on yahoo or something and running a pro football pickem thing on there?  It might be easier to keep up with everything on there as opposed to everyone posting predictions every week.  It could be a potential mess with people editing posts and such.  Just a suggestion.

jparks34 : Thank you for being interested. thing1 will put you on the sign up list when he gets a chance. But I promise you, it will run smoothly once everybody gets a feel for it during preseason. Preseason will act as a test to see what it will be like during the regular season, when we officially start. thing1 will take care of most of the posting while I will act as a moderator and check everybody's post. Once everybody makes their picks the first time, I will make note of it. If someone changes their mind on a pick before the deadline, I will see it, and I'll change it in my notes. If someone tries to cheat and edit their pick AFTER the deadline...I promise you...I WILL SEE IT...and I'll go by what their picks were BEFORE the deadline. I PROMISE you, that will not be a problem. Just try to have fun when the season starts. thing1 and I will handle everything else.

Since you have a LOT more posting experience than me, I agree with you that its a good idea for you to do most of the posting. I will post something if I have to for whatever reason. If you're gonna make the thread on July 28th, try and make believe that a Monday Night game is being played, and then make the thread about the time you think it'll be over. Even though everyone will have almost an entire week to pick ONE game, I don't see any other way we could do it. I don't want to confuse anybody right off the bat.

MattyIce : Cool sounds good.  Looking forward to it then.  On a side note, have you thought about doing a just for fun fantasy league on the side for some vizzed members?

jparks34 : I don't really do fantasy, but I would participate if someone wanted to start one up. It wouldn't be me though. I'm actually not really sure how all of it works, exactly. If someone explained how all of it worked, I might look into it.

jparks34 : Davideo7, the owner of this site, usually runs the Vizzed Fantasy Football League, and very select members are let in. He only opens it up if somebody from the previous year has dropped out, and even then, those spots are usually claimed. 

And yes, I had thought of hosting this on an external site, but me and MattyIce want to have 100% full control over everything. 

Oh, and I just added you to the list.

MattyIce : ( I put mattyParks for some reason.... don't ask me why ) I was actually planning on the HOF Game being a thread on it's own, since it is technically a week of it's own. I take it you will cover the actual Hall of Fame Ceremony, and the festivities and what not, though? I'll need to be setting up the Rules Thread, summons, the first week, the overall standings thread, etc, so I will be very busy that week on Vizzed, especially since the TdV will be wrapping up, and I hope to be in a position to win. 

As for when I set the threads up, I think it's safe to say sometime after the Monday Night Game, but before Tuesday turns into Wednesday would be a safe bet for me to post the weekly thread, and update the results thread, and what not. 

And we have 8 people now... So we can have 2 conferences when regular season starts... We'll work it out as we get more people during the Pre-Season. 

thing1 : All of that sounds good. But if you want, I can do the weekly threads to take some pressure off you. I don't want you to feel like you're doing everything. Just let me know if you ever need me to.







And lets not stop at 8. Lets try to get as many people as we can before the regular season starts. Then, like you said, we'll work something out from there.

MattyIce : I never said we were going to stop at 8... I just said that now we have enough to split the group into 2 conferences as of now. As long as we finish with an even number since we are going to stop taking people once the Pre-Season is over, we will be fine. If not, then will see how we will set up the playoffs when we get a final number of how many people.

Can we skip preseason?  No one cares about pre-season, guys who will never be in the league will play the second halves, and the players that are good will get a series or two and go sit on the sidelines and hold clipboards.

If we don't skip pre-season, can I just defer myself until regular season and carry an 0 for 0, with 0% correct?  I would much prefer that compared to picking exhibition NFL games.

I know everyone is excited for some football.  I am too.  But there's a reason a lot of gambling and NFL 'games' avoid the preseason.  I would like to avoid it too.

warmaker : Barathemos is just a particpant. It is me and MattyIce that run this thing. If you wish to deter until regular season, that is your choice. However, you will still receive the summons, just make things easier on us to organize. And with no guesses, they will count as losses. But, we are not doing any rewards for the Pre - Season, so your results do not matter. The reason we are doing the Pre - Season is to figure out and work out all of the kinks. That way, when the regular season rolls around, we have everything figured out and what not.
