normal people can also give advice by the way. But since davideo is a site owner, and staff people are most likely pretty known with coding and stuff.
I got a question for you guys.
I'm Moderator At Likwidgames.com to clear out the forum of spam.
we are having troubles with a bot that has been registering account since the start of the 2013.
I've succeeded to delete more then 7564 posts, and more then 6343 topics(threads). But the Amount of registered bots only increases with the day. I know that vizzed.com is a really strong community of a lot of pretty smart people. And I never saw anything like a bot register on this site. So I want to ask you guys if you have any knowledge of how to prevent them to register  on Likwidgames.com.
Our site owner only gotten active last week from a long distance inactivity of a year. Within that year we only had 2 mods to fight against the spam. And these 2 didn't even know how to use their moderation abilities. So they pretty much failed protect the community for getting spammed. I recently gotten ranked to moderator. And surprisingly I was able to figure out how to use the moderation status completely. Even through this, The website will still be having troubles with the bots because out of 31,089 Registered accounts, probably one third of these registered accounts are bots. I'll give a rough guess, I think the site got over 7854 registered accounts that have been registered by a bot system/ program/ or computer. And out of the 31089 registered account only 22147 of the account are counted as real accounts Or active account ( within 4 years probably). I'm probably the only one of our 4(3 active) moderators that can fight the spam. But I want likwidgames to get rid of this bot. It's just so annoying. It's been destroying our site for more then a year now. We're desperate seeking for advice and methods how to prevent this!

Yngwie : First of all, I saw on the site you're Dutch, I'm too! Second of all, I'm not known with this site so I doubt that I can help you. It's not very smart to ask the staff for help because they are already busy with this site. Good luck with your problem though

Isn't it? I'm sorry. I never realized it. I never saw anything of it. That's why though it.
Likwid games has been effected so much that bot. That I didn't realize that other sites might have the same problem.
We tried different new register systems and capicha system. But the bots keep coming through it. Also. The owner of Likwid games even coded a system that supposed to trick off bots. But it didn't last for long. After nine hours. It was passed again. It's just so stupid that people actually put in so much effort to make bots this invisible. And why? Because of some advertising... That's just abnormal!
To tell the truth, for me it's not the problem of deleting spam, en banning these bots. It's just, that the amount of bots registering every day gets bigger, and bigger. Even when I ban most of these bots,, the amount of banned bots will simply be refilled with new registered bots. I though That maybe the staff or moderators from Vizzed would have some ideas for us. Or even davideo. Since he is the site owner of Vizzed.
I would really appreciate any kind of advice you people can give us! Because until now, anything we tried didn't work out.

So Davideo, if you can't help me out. Then I'm completely fine with it. I just hope that because this site is pretty secure, that you and your hired staff/moderators could help us out with this!

If you want help, it might help to explain to us the board structure so we can at least lead you in the right direction.

And contrary to popular belief, the staff is always able to answer questions, because their (and my) job is actually relatively easy. Moderators just go to each forum and click "close" on bad threads, and move threads to the right forums. Site staff only do their designated roles, generally.

The only person who actually codes Vizzed right now is David.

I came here with this question, because we are in some serious troubles with this bot. Even though I can maintain the forum all by myself. It's still really annoying to see spam accounts being registered. Also, all the spam etc, account all come from different IP addresses. So it Doesn't only generates accounts. But it also generates random information. So it also generates random IPs. It's even so, that all IPs looks exactly the same but the last four digits are always different. It's so stupid to see.. It's frustrates me to see it..
Don't feel sorry for the cold behavior or anything. I completely understood what you meant. I do know that the staff and moderators are really busy on this site. But also, this site got a lot of people that are moderators or staff. So on that point. There should always be someone who can help with other stuff such as these.

Well, if you got time to help me out. I would gladly listen to any advice you got for us.
Our site is infected by a bot. This bot generates accounts that post spam. These spam are always large posts with a lot of links. Most of these spam are for products, or download links for movies. Some are about completely random subjects. But then there are links to websites and downloads that have nothing in common with the subject of the post.. It's so annoying.
The worst of it, it's not 1-5 account that have been registered. Or just 2 spam. NO.
each day, around the 25-32 accounts can be registered into our database. And move of these accounts are bots ( if not ALL of them)
some of them don't post anything. Other of them post 2-5 of them each day.
We even had this account on our forum. That posted 1,134 posts in just one day... it was so frustrating to delete all that spam. It took me 85 minuets to clear out all the spam that he posted!
I hope you guys of vizzed are able, and willing to help us. This problem became really critical. And one of our Moderators quieted roughly 2 years ago. The other has given up on the forum. And the one that is still active together with me didn't know much about the potentials he had being a moderator.
