Anime seems to get all of the fame and the glory. Manga seems to be taking more of a backseat as many people start to read less and less. I felt that it was time for manga to share some of the spotlight. My favorite manga is Akame ga Kill! What is your favorite manga? (Note: You can list more than one).

Well, here goes.
I still think my favourite manga is Zatch Bell. First manga to ever make me cry.Though, it was also the first one I ever read, so that might just be the nostalgia talking...
Otherwise, I enjoy Bleach, Fairy Tale, and a couple other generic manga that lots of people read. Like Pokemon.

Ah I remember the good old days where you could walk into a bookstore
and buy a decent manga. Defiantly my favorite currently is history's
mightiest disciple Kenichi. But I tend to read others after finishing
the anime I ended up reading the manga for it because I was curious how
different it was bare with me this is something I don't normally do.
Pretty much it was the best choice I made and pretty much I'm almost
fully caught up with it after putting it on hold for 10 weeks so the
mangaka could put out more and id just binge on em.  Another really
great manga I read was the soul eater manga pfft boy does that stuff
branch between the anime and the manga. I'm also going after blazblue
remix heart since its part of the blazblue universe while also tackling
blue exorcist since I just finished that anime and its respective movie
pretty much excited to pick that up especially when i saw it in Japanese dub it was really good I adored the voices for the cast .I did try to read neon genesis evangalion but after finishing it I was just plain disturbed by the ending.

For me my favorite manga would have to be an romance one which would be Kimi ni Todoke. It is a little old but it's still a very good read if your into romance, the anime lacks a little but still has the same effect as the manga.

Gamin'Gal : I will definitely have to give that a shot. Usually, if the manga makes someone cry, I try to read it to see if I can get the same result. I usually fail though. Maybe nostalgia, but it probably would not have had the same draw if it were a weaker read. I know countless times that I have re-read something, only to find out that it produced the same result as the first time. I will have to pass on the generic stuff though. :3

kingrob79 : I feel like you can still buy some decent manga, I have been into Barnes & Noble a few times, and they had a pretty decent selection. Of course, it was primarily filled up with your generic, everybody-knows-about-this manga, but it also has a few gems. Maybe the selection is not as good as it used to be, but it has not become lost to the ages yet. Mightiest Disciple Kenichi? I tried to watch the anime, but it kind of went over my head. I just was not able to enjoy it for some reason. I might have to try the manga though, to see if I can have a different result. For Soul Eater, yeah, I assumed as much. The anime was kind of meh, so I will have to give the manga a shot. Might have to read BlazBlue too. I also saw Ao no Exorcist, but I have yet to watch the movie. The standard anime was pretty amazing. Usually when people are disturbed by something, I enjoy it. So, I will probably also have to try Neon Genesis Evangelion.

cnw64 : I am not too into romance, but I can delve into the genre a bit. I do prefer romantic comedies, but I can still read and watch pure romance. I heard that Kimi ni Todoke was good, and now you are repeating those words, so I will probably have to read that too, regardless of its age. :3

Currently, Gunslinger Girl, Lady!!, and Yotsuba& are my favorite manga. I'm still reading them, but I really got into them, so I'd like to keep reading them. They are all a different genre, but they still appealed to me in their own way. There are a bunch of manga I have read, but those are my main favorites for now.

I admit that I cry pretty easy, so I wouldn't surprised if you ended up not XD
As for the generic stuff, I enjoy it for what it is, even if it does become extremely predictable after a while. The arcs tend to go: Oh no! Big trouble!, Nobody can stop the bad guys!, Oh, here comes the main character and his gang! Boom! Pow! We're saved, yaaay!
It's really a shame manga is being passed up, though. I find half the time, it's better than the anime adaptation. For nearly every anime I watch, I prefer the manga.

AriaAngelDream : You are right, those are vastly different genres. I heard that Yotsuba& and Gunslinger Girl were good, but I had not heard of Lady!! before. I will definitely have to give them a shot regardless. I may have to put Yotsuba on hold though, as it is still ongoing. I like to be able to marathon and get the full story for whatever I am reading/watching better than having to wait. :3 I'm kind of impatient.

Gamin'Gal : Who knows? I might... maybe.
But yeah, the predictability and repetitiveness just gets to me, and then I simply cannot go on. It makes me want to stop reading.
I am starting to realize that now, too. Due to certain problems with adaptations, they really cannot make the anime better than the manga (most of the time), and the manga just turns out to be a lot better. I truly wish I had understood that sooner, as I am now very behind because of my prior attitude about manga being worse than anime in general.

I'd have to say that D.N.Angel is my favorite manga. This is probably because it's the only manga I've ever read but I really liked it anyway.

Koda : I will have to try and read it sometime. I have a bit on my plate right now though, and I will eventually finish it all, but for now, I will settle for my current read: Ajin. Is it really the only manga that you've read though? You should really venture more into the medium and try reading some more manga. :3

I really can't sit down in silence and read. I really despise it, but this is probably because of my choices of reading in highschool were all forced upon me. If you sat down and read Jane Eyre you might feel the same way. I also don't have the money to actually buy manga nor do I know where I could buy some besides ordering them online. As for reading them online, I can't really focus well while reading for long periods of time on a computer. Anime is my middle ground I suppose since I watch the anime and read the subtitles at the same time.

I really don't read manga all that often, since I have no real source besides the internet for Manga, but the best one I have read is Nichijou. It is somehow a little more funnier than the Anime for me.

Hands down for me, my all time favorite manga is Fullmetal Alchemist! It had everything in it! Action, adventure, comedy, drama, romance, awesome characters, incredible story, many emotional moments.... Just an absolutely amazing manga series! 10 out of 10 in my book and what I'd describe as absolute perfection in manga!

My favorite manga of all time is eyeshield 21 because its so funny and energetic. I couldn't read the whole thing though because I got to the point where I couldn't find certain books in the library.

Hmm. Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahashi, its a romantic comedy set in modern Japan.

A little different than most stories as it stars a college student (over typical high-schooler) and his love for his young apartment manager, a recent widow.  Anyone familiar with InuYasha, Ranma 1/2 will know Takahashi can make some really comedic supporting characters. How she does them here without adding any weird curses or superpowers was interesting. Mr. Yotsuya was my favorite; he's bizarre, gross and yet mysterious.

The best thing I love about Maison Ikkoku it tells a complex love triangle (or three) and it definitely has an ending! I love endings, hehe.

kingrob79 : I am super sad the kenichi just ended that was a great manga and it was my  second favorite manga of all time.My first would have to be karate shoukoushi kohinata minoru I feel like the charitor development is amazing in karate.( it is still ongoing) I also feel like they did a good job of getting you to dislike this person or love this other guy. I like it because they don't have super powers or any thing they are just normal people up agenst normal people.( I do like super powered manga and anima it is just one without them is a nice change) my third favorite would have to be yu yu hakashio I like the way that every person in that has a weakness yuska has anger issues and just charges in and  all the other people have some thing like this.

sop281 : OOOH! My favorite Manga..Hmm,tough.

I am much more of a manga person, than an anime person. So i have a WIDE array of things to choose from.

The Dragon Ball Z manga is fun, intense, and does not take 50 freaking episodes to finish one battle.(I'm looking at you anime adaptation..)..BUT!

Deadman Wonderland has a very engaging story, gripping characters, and has some of the best art i have ever seen..BUT!

Tokyo Ghoul has been the best thing i have read this year....BUT!

Uzumaki is my prime example,of horror done right,in Manga...BUT!

Monster is also my example,of very good  story telling in Manga..THEN AGAIN!

The World God Only Knows,is such a good deconstruction on the Harem genre...

UGH! This is so hard.I have been reading Manga since i was 8,i have about 700 volumes of this stuff in my basement. So which series could take the place as my favorite..?

..Hmm..The Naruto Manga.Yes,cliche and undeserved,i'm quite aware. But Naruto was the first manga Volume i ever read.It introduced me to an entirely new Medium, and culture.Plus,i would say i have gained 2/4TH'S of my knowledge of the medium, from the Naruto volumes.

It taught me what good art is,what bad art is.

What good characters are, what bad characters are.

What good story telling is,what bad story telling is.

And i have been reading it since i was 8,and still reading it many years later. If you don't mind,i think i would like to have a top 5

1.Naruto.
2.Hellsing
3.The World God Only Knows (Also the first Manga i read in Japanese! But as a rookie in the Language,it was tough.. )
4.Deadman Wonderland.
5.Death Note.
