thing1 :

The odds of him making the majors are rather low, having gotten a look at his scouting profile. He's a 20 year old at A- ball, and unless he can develop decent offensive skills, he's likely going to languish in the low minors or be outright released in the next couple of years. His defense is what I'd describe as average at best, and while his eye is decent for his age, that's nothing without a bat to back it up. You can quote college stats, but college and A, AA, or AAA are all radically different, let alone the major league level.

His chances of being a major leaguer are low.

Especially given the organization he's in. The Cubs are loaded at the SS position and have 3-4 guys close to the majors or in the majors that can play the position.

But even if he were in an org with weaker SS depth, nothing about him seems to scream major league talent at present (though, he's young, so it's too early to write the book). I'd re-evaluate him in a year or two, because he's had all of 6 games at the A- level. (A- is below A, A+, AA, and AAA, as well as the obvious MLB level) Anyone can have a bad 6 games, or a good 6 games. My reaction is based on scouting videos, reports, and just a comparison between his college stats and major leaguers who played in the same conference.

Ask me again a year from now, and I'll have more for you. The short of it though, is that it's just too early to say anything yet.

legacyme3 : I figured you would be more analytically then me, and have a good opinion, so I thoughts that the stats might be a good thing for you.

His college stats actually are not that bad. They are average, so they aren't anything special, sure, but still not too shabby. I mean, he is batting at a .208 . For a guy in his very first 6 games, that really isn't all that bad. Think about it... 20 year old guy gets drafted. He's got to me nervous, while very excited, and has to have some butterflies in his stomach. I say give him until the 15 game mark, then start really analyzing him.

And what is TB and PA ( last section on his stats ) ?

thing1 : TB is total bases and PA is plate appearances.
legacyme3: I know his chances of making the majors are low. But you know what? Anything is possible. Even if he doesn't make the majors, they are still paying for his college, they gave him a juicy singing bonus, and he is making some money, while still being able to do his favorite thing in the world - play baseball. And if it doesn't pan out, he is still a very bright kid and I'm sure he will be able to find work.

He probably will. It's great that he got drafted and I mean that.

I was just asked if he would be a good fit in the Mariners Org, and decided to explain why he wasn't really a "great fit" anywhere, yet. He's too inexperienced to say for sure. In a year, we'll know more about his professional future than we do today. At the moment, he's very much a lottery ticket (He was taken after the 10th round. Most players taken after the 10th are either guys with signability concerns, or players who are interesting but not complete prospects like the ones taken in the first 10)
