I've spent the day installing and setting up probably the coolest plugin I've found called Dynmap and created a page dedicated to the Vizzed Minecraft server with that the Dynmap and other details. The Minecraft link at the top of the Video Game Room now links to that page and you can also find a link here:

Obviously the Interactive Map is the highlight of this page but I'll go over everything else first. This page at the top shows who all is online and both their Vizzed and Minecraft usernames. If a user hasn't added Minecraft to their game collection, then only their Minecraft username will show up (so everyone be sure to add the game to your vizzed game collection). The page also shows a complete list of every Vizzed user who owns Minecraft. Lastly, the link that leads to the Minecraft page from the Video Game Room will display how many users are on the Minecraft server.

Ok now for the Interactive Map. This lets you view a top down view or an isometric view of any world within our minecraft server. Not all of the worlds are rendered yet but Vizzed Ville and Genrody currently are which means you can view everything which has been discovered. The map only shows areas which have been discovered, land that has never been explored by anyone will not appear so be sure to go and discover the undiscovered!


Here's a list of some of the features:

Userlist: This shows a list of all the active users in real time and can be found from the right menu. If you click a user's name, the map will go to their location.

World Map Perspectives: From the right menu, you can view any of the worlds and you can choose to see a top down "plain" view, an isometic "surface" view, and a view which shows the height and depth of everything called "cave" view.

Show Claims: From the left menu, you can check 'GriefPrevention' and that'll show all of the user claims and when you hover over a user claim, it'll say who owns it and additional details about it. It's best to use the "plain" view when using this.

Location: This shows the coordinates of where your mouse pointer is. This is handy since you can reference to this from within Minecraft.

Zoom in and out: You have the ability to zoom really far out and really far in. When you zoom in, you'll see everything in high res detail (it might take a while to fully render).

Game Chat: This allows you to see the conversations taking place on the server. You can also interact with the users on the Minecraft server using the chat. When you chat, it'll use your Vizzed Username but if you chat as a guest and if you've already used the Vizzed Minecraft server, then your name will be based on your Minecraft name but if you haven't, then your name will be your IP (which is great so that anyone can report trouble makers). As long as the web chat doesn't get abused, I'll let anyone use it but if it starts to get abused, then I'll limit it to just those who use the Minecraft server.

Server Time and Weather: At the top you can see the server time and the current weather conditions.

I'm so glad your picture didn't catch my IP while I was visiting lol.

I can vouch as someone who hasn't set foot in the minecraft server that the chat works as expected, and that yes, your IP does indeed show.

It's pretty responsive and quick.

You cannot see inside buildings as far as I could see, but it's a good chance for those who don't have Minecraft to see what everyone is up to on the server. It's a pretty nifty tool.

The only way it could be improved is if we could choose "nicknames" to go along with the IPs, because if 2 or 3 people with IPs are chatting at once, I can see people mixing up IPs.

I have not checked it out yet, but this has to be one of the coolest plugins I have ever seen.  This is going to be so useful, even when you arent playing. (Time to get stalking)

I've made a few updates to the Interactive World Map. When you're logged into Vizzed, your Vizzed username will be used when you chat. The chat box now displays more messages (15 lines) and a scrollbar is added which lets you view even more messages (100 lines).

legacyme3 : Yeah that's my only complaint about this plugin, you can't see inside buildings. Refer to my above update.

Davideo7 : I love chatting on the plugin while also playing on the game. I start talking to somebody and then sneak up on them and they have no idea that I am in the game. It's so much fun.

I think that guilds should be added, for example I have "The Otaku Knights" and GhostBlood has "Dragon Wings" and Zlinqx has "Masked" leaving one more guild that maybe you can run David. The guilds could have the guild name before your name or something and the point of the guilds would be to get people together and help people out. Maybe there could be a portal to an area for the 4 main guilds at some point? More info to came as we chat about it.

Barathemos : Yeah, I've been getting the same kind of problem.

In Chrome the window where the map is suppose to be, but instead of the map, it says "Server refused the connection." Might be a little error in the connection thing or something.

I've been having the same issue... It think it's been that way for me since the hack happened... Not sure if it's connected to that, but it is malfunctioning. 

I tried to fix things from the command side on the server, but it appears like the entire dynmap plugin is down, which is causing this issue. I think we might just need to reload it (/reload), but I'll let David mess with that or wait until the server is empty to try it. (The server has started to pick up activity again. It's great. )

Just letting you know that I tried /reload, and it didn't work. /dynmap still says that the plugin failed to initialize properly.

Maybe it's not at its latest version? Otherwise, I think I'm stumped. Online it says it could be a typo in the settings file, but that would require it having been edited for something in the first place.

I found the dynamap to be really useful for a large server like this... I was about to go exploring in Greenerous too...

I've spent about an hour trying to fix Dynmap but I can't figure it out. It might have something to do with the fact that the Dynmap folder takes up around 32 GB. I moved the current Dynmap folder and did a fresh install and that worked but that's not really helpful since nothing would be rendered so I moved the old files back. When I find time, I'll continue figuring out the problem but if I'm unsuccessful, then I'll just do the fresh install and configure everything manually.

We were thinking that the plugin itself might need updating.

Or perhaps the file-size is just too large, like you suggested.

As EM said, I haven't done anything to the plugin at all. It went down when the site did, if that helps.

If the file size is too large, feel free to delete the render for Phemcee's Mini-game heaven.

I definitely agree with EM. I realize there isn't much we can do in the way of editing files, but let us know if anything we can help with arises.

Speaking of doing server work, can you check Skype?

Though I would note we try our best when it comes to dealing out mviz, helping with claim issues, fixing teleports, and answering server questions on a daily basis.

Oh yeah, EM and I consistently handle every possible issue we can. We can't edit the physical files, but we can do just about everything else.

It's a bummer that the map doesn't work any longer. I liked that feature so I could check in and see what you guys were doing (since I don't play the game myself) hopefully you can find a solution sometime in the future to fix it.

jlove92 : Which reminds me, I need to render some of the worlds that haven't been rendered since the server migration. Since they haven't been rendered, those other worlds currently don't show up on the Dynmap. The only worlds that do show up properly are the main world and the Creative world.

I have the render going now and it should be all updated within 24 hours.

While we're on the topic, just reminding you that I'd like to exclude 'Phemcee's mini-game heaven' from dynmap (at least from most of the views), because it could allow advantages in mini-games that would take some of the fun out of the mini-games.

I asked you about it a while ago, but it got added back after the resets.

mrfe : I've made it so that Phemcee's mini-game heaven no longer appears on the page. While I was at it, I changed the order of the worlds in the side menu of the Dynmap so the more important worlds are at the top and the less important worlds are at the bottom.

mrfe : Knowing that it's easy to remove worlds from that map makes me feel a little bit better about having lots of worlds. One of the reasons why I originally didn't want to have tons of worlds was because of the Dynmap and how much space they sucked up in the side menue and the fact that they'd take away from the important maps. Now this isn't much of any issue since we can remove maps from the page and also order them.

Is the interactive world maps a place where you can easily select a world or is it entirely different? I'm just used to playing the console version of Minecraft and am wondering.

For whatever reason, it keeps saying 'www.vizzed.co refused to connect.' Where the plugin would be.
