I'm one of those people who would want to learn Japanese as well I really like the language. Of course, I got interested in the language from anime and manga, but I ended up liking it to the point where I really want to learn Japanese. If I want to go to Japan, I can speak Japanese there. I can understand anime and Japanese music without subs or translations. I can read manga without a translator.

I actually took Italian in high school, so rather than being the language I would like to speak, I would like to practice and continue learning. I haven't practiced since the end of my junior year, right after taking the regents.

I still recall bits and pieces of it. For example, I can pretty much say: "Mi chiamo nreid1. Sono ventidue anni. Mi piace videogiochi e pallacanestro.  Mi piace l'automobile Ferrari. E tu?"

"Pallacanestro" is basketball. I'm not sure if Italians use something else, for that was the word taught to me to say basketball.

Why did I learn Italian? It was just another class needed to graduate lol. At my high school, a certain number of credits in a Foreign Language needed to be fulfilled before a student could graduate. From my 1st year to my 3rd, I took it and stuck with it. I actually have no Italian blood within my family (at least I don't think so.) I'm an American-born citizen to Guyanese parents. Have I met Italians outside of school? Yes. Have they used their native tongue? Rarely.
