I wanted to make this into a fanfic, but I don't see it happening with my busy schedule, but maybe someday later. But for now, I would like to implore you with a little theory regarding that epic skeleton who teaches link secret techniques in The legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.


I think that Link, many years after the events of Majora's Mask married Malon, now, the first question people ask, is how do I know this?


1 There is a gossip stone that says the following in OOT:

"They say that Malon of Lon Lon Ranch hopes a knight in shining armor will come and sweep her off her feet someday."

Could Link one day be this knight? He did a lot for the ranch, saving it from Ingo and such, I guess link isn't one to really talk though. Why have this information in the game at all though, unless this "knight" is likely to be link someday? And besides, who else is as close to Talon's family after doing so many things for them?


2 Talon makes a joke, (that made my stomach really sick the first time that I played this game growing up!)

How'd you like to marry Malon?
Huh?


Whether you say yes or no, he continues:

Haw haw! I was just kidding! Just kidding! I think you're a little
young for that, aren't you?

Although this is a joke, could the game be hinting at a much more serious thought later?


3 Talon seems to take quite a liking to Link, as well as Malon, as seen from the following qoute:

Hey pardner, you have an honest face!
When you grow up, why don't you
come to work here, on this ranch? That's a standing offer!
I'll be waiting for you.



So, This family likes Link quite a bit. Some people would say.

"Well, yeah, Link, Talon, Malon, they all like each other, but that doesn't mean that link liked Malon so much that he married her!


That is true, but let me tell you something a wise adult told me.

"Don't look for a girlfriend, look for a friend who is a girl."

Some of the best advice that I've had.

This is one of the best ways that it can start. A friendship.

But there is still one nagging point.


Link has to marry someone! Or else he can't have descendants, of which one of them is Link from Twilight Princess.

In case you didn't know, Nintendo confirmed that Hero's shade is OOT link, and in TP, the game states that Link is a descendant of Hero's shade/OOT Link?

I mean, seriously! who else is he going to marry?


Naboruu? I don't think so, no real strong evidence in the game for it, yeah Naboru likes Link, I caught that last thing that she said to him after he rescued her. I doubt that Link likes her back. . . Not to mention that she's a geruado. yes, link might choose her, but Malon is much more likely based on the interaction that we see in the game between Link, and Talon's family, what with rescuing the ranch and such. I wonder if Link can even marry a sage, aren't they stuck in the chamber of sages? And besides, the japanese verions of the game, seems to say that the sages all died upon becoming sages!

Ruto? She said so herself that she can't marry Link, probably the same thing that keeps Ruto from marrying link also stop Naboruu.


Zelda! What about Zelda?

Given the amount of screentime they had together, you would think that more would come from that if this were true, but nothing really is really shown of the two liking eachother. . . after multiple opportunities.

So, I am really, REALLY sure that Link married Malon, based on the hints given to us in the game, If it were Zelda whom he married than we would have seen more signs of them liking each other in the game. Also, there's the slight possibility that Link and Zelda are siblings seperated at birth, but that's only a thought, the only evidense for this theory is how similar they look, showing they have similar genetics, (possibly).


Interestingly, I Skyward Sword, Where Zelda and Link actually show interest in each other in the game, Zelda and Link don't really look that related! Their faces are quite different!




But anyways, What happens to Link after he get's married?!


Well, he has children of course! Which is why Link in Twilight Princess is a descendant of Link in Ocarina of Time.



Why does OOT Link/Hero's Shade wear armor in his ghostly form in TP though?


Some say that it is Hyrulian armor, because Link became a Knight of Hyrule, and It wouldn't surprise if Link DID become a knight of Hyrule!!


But look at the armor of normal Hyrulian soldiers. . . . .

I don't think so!

The color is all wrong to be true Hylian, and the patterns, are not the same either!


Look at the pattern on the shield.

I would say that looks like something found from either the Temple of Time, or the Twilight Realm!

But aside from that odd pattern, I think that it matches another cultures armor better, or more closely at the least.

Why is that?

In fact, could there be a connection between all Stalfos and the kingdom of Ikana?



Well, here's what I think.



Link became a knight of Hyrule after the events of OOT, the he went and "swept Malon off her feet" as the gossip stone says.

He started a family, and every year, he went looking for Navi in the lost woods, like he did back when He stumbled upon Termina. At this point, I'm not sure if Link died of old age, (preferable for a happier ending) or got lost in the lost woods and became a Stalfos, (preferable for a fanfic due to drama! ;3 ). But either way, Link somehow becomes a Stalfos, if he died a natural death,  then it could be that's he has become an wandering ghost because he has to many regrets to rest.

I personally think that Link became a Stalfos in the lost woods, this would mean that he couldn't teach his children the secret techniques because he "died" while they were too young, making it possible for him to have the regrets that he mentions having in TP.


Now. . . Link, as a Stalfos. . . . had to do something, but what magic was strong enough to heal him?

During the event's of Twilight Princess, OOT Link, what with all his regrets couldn't just do nothing!

So Link thought, he thought of another whom he had met that had experience with dealing with the dead.

The king of Ikana!

I think that Link re awoken the king of Ikana, or somehow communed with his spirit, and the King granted him a precious Item.


A moon's pearl.

On top of that, the king used the magic of his house on Links Hylian Knight's armor, changing it into a rich, magical, golden Ikaninte armor of fine fashion. 

The moon's pearl was placed in his left eye, this is why only his left eye glows. This moon's pearl also absorbed the properties of the twilight realm, allowing Hero's shade to become a golden wolf whenever he wished.



And that is my theory, all done!

I fell like celebrating! Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Sword legion : That's some an awesome and interesting theory! But in the Zelda wiki they say that after link saves it's unknown if he returned to Hyrule. I wished if he married Saria instead XD!

greenluigi : Well, considering the fact that Kokiri never age, I find it would be weird for Link to marry Saria.

For me, Zelda seems to be the most realistic couple, but you make a nice point about Malon.

I always thought that in OoT, that particular Link and that particular Zelda didn't quite connect as much, so he married Malon... but in other games, Link and Zelda seem to have this romance thing going on (Skyward Sword, anyone?).

That's an interesting theory. Although I have a different question that's been burning inside me since I got to the part where the Hero's Shade says he was the hero of time. HOW THE HECK IS HE TALKING?! I always questioned why he has that armor too. I think your theory is pretty spot on.
