Many people have asked this question before, but what is the main reason to live? Are we suppose to reproduce over and over again, or get rich? Do we just work until we retire and die, or go and explore the world? I've answered this question in my head already, but I started to wonder if other people know the answer as well. Tell me what you think the main reason to life is.

Here's my opinionated answer to this question:

The main reason to live, is to glorify Jesus and spread His love and mercy across the planet, so that everybody will know He is the one and true God.

I don't really think there's a specific reason to live. I know this is going to sound kind of lame, but I think everyone should just follow their dreams and aspirations. If you do that, your life's purpose has been fulfilled.

Thebiguglyalien : Nah, it doesn't sound lame. I think it's inspirational, actually.
Thanks for your opinion on this!

I agree with Thebiguglyalien and everybody should indeed have their own goals and dreams to follow in life. But for me, the biggest purpose in life is to learn new things and to discover new dimensions about myself and my surroundings every day. I think life is a big mystery, but the human mind can be even more mysterious. Becoming more aware of basically everything is important, and being a better, more knowledgeable and open-minded person is a good goal in life I think. For instance, I think I'm a good person and also very open-minded even now, but there are so many days ahead of me that I'm sure I haven't reached my full potential yet.

This is a tricky question, because it asks us to find purpose, in what seems to be a purposeless existence.

We live, we die, and the cycle continues. Intermittently are moments of happiness and sadness, yet we are told life is a gift. And it is, we weren't taught wrong.

However, life is only worth living if you can accept that you need to have a purpose aside from just living. In many ways, the journey to find purpose is as important as the purpose itself. You grow, you learn, you live, love, and laugh. By the time you reach your destination, you are able to comprehend your own existence, and what your purpose for living is. From that point on, one can live and die with the purpose they have decided on for themselves.

And the glory of it is, everyone's purpose is different.

I don't really know what my purpose is. I'm still learning, and still journeying.

Life is far too open ended for me to say I know what my purpose is from the starting gun. And I don't think many people truly know what their actual purpose is either.

I've actually wondered this a lot though I usually just throw the thought aside. Life seems really pointless at times. It just seems like an endless cycle. Though people do live their life differently they still have the same outcome and that is death. I guess that my main reason for living is the thought that everyone does have a purpose. I have never really thought of my purpose in life to be anything big like finding a cure for cancer, but maybe my existence in this world can change how future outcomes happen. I've always aspired to be a firefighter and maybe my purpose in life is to save someone else who may be important. My child could be the next Einstein or maybe my child's child could do something amazing or maybe I'm just meant for little things. I have never really put to much thought into it and this is probably the most I ever will think about. I would rather keep things a mystery anyways, makes life more exciting.

I think life is to learn as much as you can, and that you have to make the world better for the next generation. After all, you can better have a short but good life than a long but bad life

Personally speaking, I would have to say that my main reason to live, as of right now, is to learn Japanese, and watch as much Anime and Manga as I can before I die, as well as become the most open-minded person alive (I'd like to say that I'm pretty close to that point).I guess that is a few reasons, but I really cannot condense it any further than that. I still have to start on the Japanese part, but that will come soon enough. I have not found much else reason that I have to live for, I certainly don't benefit the human race as a whole, nor do I benefit many other people, with the exception of my family. Family is accepting of your faults, and if not anything else, I live for them. It is not exactly a glorious existence, but I like it.
