In every Pokémon game we all have to choose one Pokémon that will travel with us on our journey. There is a water type, fire type, and grass type (but if you play Pokémon Yellow you can get Pikachu [an electric type] and all three starter Pokémon. I don't know if this is the same for older Pokémon games).

So in each Pokémon game you have played throughout your lives, which Pokémon starter did you choose and why?
What are the advantages and disadvantages that you had to deal with as the game progressed?
Do you recommend other users to choose the same Pokémon as you did when you were playing the game?

Let me know and it will be interesting to hear what you say

Ok let me think a little, I usually test them all out so I can say what is best for me, but here is my favorite picks.

Generation I: Squirtle - For me Squirtle is best choice because first of all all of it's evolution forms are very nice looking and I have always liked turtles. And it can learn very nice moves like Skull bash, Bite, Hydro Pump etc. and you can teach him some good ice-type moves too like Ice beam and Avalance that are good against dragon-types.

Generation II: Totodile - Yet another water-type, it's not like my favorite is water, but they are very good for a starter in my opinion.. What makes Totodile one of my favorite is probably that you can teach very good dragon/fight and ice-type moves so it is possible to make it a very versatile companion in your team.

Generation III: Torchic - Torchic can evolve to Blaziken that is fire/fight type Pokémon that looks very cool and can learn very great moves like Bulk up, blaze kick and sky uppercut. And for some reason you can teach him Solarbeam so if you face a water-type Pokémon's you might want to teach it to him so you have a upper hand against your enemy and the weakness to water does not look so scary anymore.

Generation IV: Turtwig - First I was thinking I pick Piplup because it is water/steel type which makes it a great ally, but anyways I chose Turtwig because well first of all the final evolution Torterra looks really nice, like turtle with a giant tree on the top of his shell. And 2ndly it is a grass/ground type even thou it can only learn one which is Earthquake, great move no question about that and It learn very basic grass-type moves so thats good... Good thing here is that you can teach him some very handy TM's.

Generation V: Snivy - It's the only one from those three I have tested, it can learn only grass/normal type moves, and a few decent poison moves.. And I think there was some decent moves which you can learn by TM's.. But even when Snivy and it's another forms looks very nice I don't think it was so good as I was hoping for.. But you can handle your self with this little rascal.

Generation VI: Froakie - Never even touched Pokémon Y/X, but when I checked them all out there was only two of them that looks good and they were Fennekin and Froakie, Chespin looks so dull that I don't really want to even test it out... But anyway Froakie looks very cool and his final form is dark/water so that is really great in my opinion. And who does not like ninjas, if I someday buy Pokémon Y, Froakie will certainly be my first pick.

In every Pokemon game i've ever played I would choose the fire starter Pokemon first. I choose the fire starter every time because I have more experience working with fire types than any others and i work best with them.

I usually start with fire starter it doesn't help the game very much depending on gen. But I chose them because I liked them besides the 6th gen starter sorta. Also if I had to suggest to use them uh yeah since fire types are hard to find each gen since they are either rare or if common not that powerful.

I usually choose the fire starters, but it also depends on the generation, and starter Pokemon available. I would choose Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchik, Chimchar, and Snivy. I have not played X or Y, so I cannot say anything about generation 6, though I would probably choose Fennekin or Chespin. I usually choose the fire starters because I think they look the best of the three, and they have a high attack stat. Usually. Unfortunately, in some of the games, the earlier gyms do not make for an easy start, but rather a difficult one. Such as with Charmander, you have to go through a rock gym, and a water gym first. It makes for a challenging beginning, but definitely turns out to be worth it in the end. The Pokemon depend on the preference, and no, I would not recommend using the fire starters (earlier on, at least) because of the difficult start-up.

I used to pick water type Pokemon, but then I changed to fire because most of the time, fire is the strongest, and I like the way that a couple of the Pokemon look.

Water type are my favorite pokemon type in every generation I use, I find it strong to defeat the every gym leaders pokemon. Except in yellow version there are no other pokemon type the only pokemon type is electric type and that is pikachu and I hate it because pikachu can't evolve to raichu which make pikachu stronger when it evolves but it also depends on what type of pokemon they use in battle I always choose the weakness pokemon of the gyms to beat them.

But do you think that choosing a certain type of Pokémon for favourable choices may be difficult or kind of boring? I think that there are some pretty good fire type Pokémon out there as long as you get a mixed Pokémon like Numel is a fire and ground type. And do you think some grass type Pokémon  starters have some advantage in each generation? Cactuar I think your choices can help future gamers who are starting to play Pokémon but do you think some Pokémon in each generation are supposed to offer some level of difficulty  from beginners to more advance players?
