Hello all of you gamers and arcade loving people in the world. My name is Vizzfan23 and this is my Pokémon Red retro game review. Now on my last review I talked about a long lost relic of the arcade era which was known as Ninja Baseball Batmen. I was a great arcade that many people from that time had never heard of. However I really want to change gears and finally talk about a Pokémon game. What better way to begin then with the game that started it all. So pick your starter and grab a couple of potions because we are going on a terrific Pokémon adventure.

Pokémon, one of the most iconic games of all time.  Everybody around the world have played these games. Whither they where little kids or mature adults, millions of people around the world have fallen in love with the amazing games. But I believe that the original Pokémon games where the best, especially Red. But how did this game get so popular though.

Well first off the graphics used in this game are some of the best of the extensive library of  Gameboy games. Many of the models of the Pokémon look realistic and the environment looks terrific for the system. However some of the Pokémon, especially Mew and Golbat, looked pretty bad. They looked like crude, unfinished sketches of deformed animals.  Even with this, all of the trainer sprites look good while all of the items look good.  So even with the few graphical hiccups that made their way into this game, I still believe that the graphics of this game really deserves a amazing 9 out of 10 with its great character designs and  brilliant environmental features. It was really good compared to other Gameboy titles like Super Mario Land and Harvest Moon GB

Now with great graphics, great sound should follow right? Well with this game it would be a yes. Much of the music that can be heard throughout your adventure really work well with the area that you are in. Even the music played when engaging a trainer are amazing for a Gameboy game. Even the sound that all of the Pokémon make are terrific. Many of these sounds sound like they are coming out of living animals. However, like ever game ever made, there are always flaws. Some of the music played in the game could have been improved or cleared before the game's release.  Even with this, the overall sound was good and was really fun to listen to. So with all of this put into account I would give the sound that this game brings a  good 8 out of 10. Much of the sound used in this game is great based on the system's limitations and really make the game come to life.

Now with a game with amazing graphics and good sound, how fun would this game be without a reason to come back. Well this game really gives the average gamer a lot to do. First off there is the "Story mode" in which you go on an epic quest capturing Pokémon and battling your way through gym after gym to become the champion. This mode requires you to train and level up your Pokémon to keep advancing which will really eat up your time. Just  playing the story mode could take you 14 to 20 hours of game play to defeat the campaign. However this is not the end of this gaming adventure. Even after beating the story mode, there is still a lot of fun things to do. There is a lot of Pokémon out there that still need to caught even after you defeat all of your foes. This, along with completely filling your Pokedex could take even more of your time away from you. All of this along with the ability to fight with your friends will keep gamers of all kinds coming back for more. With all of these options awaiting you I think the addictiveness of this "Capsule Monsters" title deserves a awesome 9 out of 10. This game will keep you coming back constantly to either battle your friends or to capture those oh so amazing legendaries .

Even with all of these elements in place, how did the developer bring a story, depth, and difficulty into play. Well Nintendo really loved the idea of bringing a great story along with a great theme. In this game you adventure all across the world as a young boy which only goal is to become the very best Pokémon trainer ever. This along with all of the many characters and dialogue which is presented throughout your journey will help you really become a Pokémon master.  However the depth of this title really brings out the story in a much better light. With the amount of different gyms and trainers spread around the world, it really brings tons of Pokémon along with them. With these gyms, come a lot of different Pokémon that will help you really feel like a trainer. There are even 15+ town that you will encounter during your journey which will help expand your game experience that much more. So with this in mind I really think that the story and depth of this game deserves a good 8 out of 10. The depth that this game brings really brings out the story in a very deep and entertaining way. Now where there is a good story, there has to be a difficulty to match. When you first begin your Pokémon adventure, most of the Pokémon that you will face will start at about level 4 or 5. However as you gain more badges and the more trainers you face, the stronger your opponents get . This is really well fixed into the story because the closer you get to your goal, the harder it gets to achieve it.  This really makes the RPG style play this game brings a success which is why I am giving the difficulty a decent 5 out of 10.

So after enjoying this amazing adventure through this world filled with amazing creatures and a exciting story, I have finally come up with an overall rating for this masterpiece. I truly believe that this classic Pokémon title deserves a amazing 9 out of 10. This is an amazing rating compared to Wario Land ( It earned a 8.8) and Super Mario Land ( Which also earned a 8.8) which where other terrific games on this portable console. I would recommend that every body should try this game.

So with that, this is the end of another Vizzed.com retro game review. If you know any good games that I should review, please leave a comment below.
