As for my opinion?

As a board, it's the front page that counts. For bragging rights, we might as well go with the ID since it's -much- easier to match a post number with a user.

Well I don't want it to count deleted posts. It is really  a million, but some people say not. We can probably keep this open until the one at the front page say a million.

The millionth post will probably happen within the next 2 days.

I personally think that 1 million posts is a bigger accomplishment than than 1 billion views. To achieve 1 million posts, that takes a lot of effort from a lot of users. To achieve 1 billion views, that takes very little effort from a lot of users. I feel like the 1 million posts is an achievement that the site users can feel more proud of since they all had a bigger impact on the accomplishment and more work is involved.

Don't get me wrong, the 1 billion views was a huge accomplishment and up until this point, probably the biggest site milestone but you can't really compare the site's view count with other sites since most other sites don't display the overall view count but most forums do display the overall post count so the post count is a good measurement that can be used for comparisons.

EideticMemory : We haven't officially hit it. There have been posts in the past which have been deleted so that post count number isn't an official count.

I'm not sure if I'll do anything special yet for the 1 million posts accomplishment. If anyone has any ideas let me know because I currently have none.

Idea - Free RGR games for a week (or a month if you feel particularly generous). It's not much, but it's something several will appreciate, if they somehow don't have much Viz.

Outside of that, I'm not sure there's much we could do.

There's not a ton you can do with the board really, since the reward is primarily Viz.

Look's like the 'actual' millionth post will have an ID of 1001778.

As for ideas, I really like how the banners for the TdV work. If it's a really, really special accomplishment, perhaps a banner could be improvised.

Personally, a small Viz prize sounds more than fair.

EideticMemory : Did you actually do the math for that? Or were you able to find out how many posts there are that were deleated? In any case, I agree that Viz should be awarded.

How about we do what happened with the Billion views thing? We can also pick a time that the millionth post will take place and everybody can put Viz in.

I used a simple calculation that required figuring out how many posts had been deleted. lol

I rechecked the number just now. I should be correct.

Personally, I say that we will hit a million tomorrow night at about 10:11 PM.

Almost down to 100 posts to go!  We likely will hit it tonight or tomorrer mornin'.

This may be a big deal, but it's not big enough for me to stay up all night just to see it hit like I did with the Night o' Billion.

Only about 80 more to go til the big million! Probably will happen while I'm a sleep but hey i also missed the 1 billion party too
