I just finished playing Portal and Portal 2 on my computer, and I had a lot of fun specifically because they were puzzle games instead of shoot-em-ups. My problem is, I would like to play some other first-person/third-person games that are not centered around violence, shooting guns, and killing everything in sight. The problem is, I don't really know if any (for PC at least.)

I enjoyed games like Mario64, Zelda: OOT/MM, Jak and Daxster, and even Tony Hawk Pro Skater etc, but today I don't know what to look for. All of the games that I see are about fighting zombies, military combat, running over people with cars, etc.

I am not anti-gun (I enjoy games that are hand-to-hand combat,) I am just not very good at sneaking around, tracking ammo, dodging snipers, and so on.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Again, this is for a Windows PC.

Okay, so do you want First/Third Person games with no violence at all, or just ones that don't center around shooting people? Also, do you want PC games that you have to buy the disc for, downloadable, or online games? If online, do you like MMO's?

Don't know if you like this, it's more like a point-and-click puzzle game called Dracula: The Resurrection. And also Amnesia: The Dark Decent is good puzzle game with some horror in it. And I also heard that Mirror's Edge is good, if you like parkouring.

Eirinn : I am fine with violence, just not being a commando in charge of running huge military-like missions. Nothing like Call of Duty. I enjoyed GoldenEye 007 back in the day because it was a lot more laid back.

One game that I just got finished replaying recently is Enter the Matrix. There are both weapons and martial arts hand-to-hand. The later levels get heavier military-weighted to make things more difficult, and at that point I am not enjoying the game as much. I have also enjoyed playing Infinity Blade on my iPad because the battles are short and face-to-face.

It does not matter if they are disc or download, but I am not into MMOGs. I just want play a game by myself. (Besides, my Internet speed sucks which takes away from any games like that.)

Cactuar : Point-and-clicks are good, and I do enjoy puzzles. I just want to play in a 3D world.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I feel about the same on MMO's most of the time honestly, though I am big on Dark Avenger (Android and maybe ios), and currently Hello Hero.

Okay, I haven't played these, but this is what I managed to turn up with a search:

-NaissanceE (apparently a First Person Puzzle game with an emphasis on exploration?)

-Jazzpunk (looks weird to say the least)

-Gone Home (this is one even I might play)

If it helps any, I found these on a list on Metacritic

I hope you don't mind answers like this, as I have little experience with PC gaming, but you sounded like you were looking for any suggestion, so I took a shot. lol

Ah, for PC, that'll be a bit tough... Do you maybe like racing games? If so, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed is an exceptionally fun third person racing game. You get to race in land, sea, and air, so it makes for really interesting races, whether you play offline or online. I've also heard that The Longest Journey is a neat point and click adventure game filled with a strong story line and myriad of puzzles. I've never actually played the game, but I've heard that it is quite good from a few friends of mine, and generally the reviews of the game are on the good side. It is a bit dated, so you may want to take that into consideration, too.

Try a few horror games like Amnesia, Outlast, I def suggest you play Outlast, Another game is I think is called The Witches house? I think that is what it is called, its not first persona but more like Zelda over the top point of view. But it is great fun.

EDIT: Oh my god, I am so sorry. I don't know how I missed him saying he played Portal and Portal 2, but I did. Sorry for me being a dunce. *scratches back of head*

Since you said nothing like COD, I might suggest Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch. It is a fun FPS based around tournament like matches where the object is to defeat opponents enough times to win. If you haven't played a Mega Man game, in those games you collect powers from defeated enemies. In this, you can collect powers lying around in each arena and add them to your arsenal. Saw Blades? Check. A fist you launch at people? Check. The ability to hug people to death with stars? Check. The game does involve killing, but in a fun, less violent kind of way. There is no blood, and defeated enemies just explode into little balls of energy like they do in all classic Mega Man games. Also, you stated you like to play by yourself, so MM8BDM has a single player campaign with 8 chapters, each with 8-10 maps, but it also has an online multiplayer mode, ?if you want to check it out.?You can download it on the internet, and it is actually a fan-made mod of Doom.

SMBLOZ123 : Just saying, nobody else mentioned Portal because the OP's already played them, and has stated such.

Cactuar : I second the Mirror's Edge suggestion. It's a great adrenaline-pumping game, and as far as I know, you can even beat the game without firing a single shot, though I'm not entirely certain on that. You don't even know how much I would love to see a sequel to this.

I'm gonna go ahead and mention Mirror's Edge. It's a freerunning game, where you're encouraged to run away from the bad guys, instead of taking them on. Love that game, personally. But it got mixed ratings, so watch out.

Leeland: Yep, Mirror's Edge is beatable without firing a single shot from a gun. I can personally vouch for it, since I did it myself. :3

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I will look into them. Again, it is not that I am against killing in games and am trying to avoid them completely, I just wanted to play something that did not have a gun and weapons HUD on the screen every moment of the game... something that takes more then killing everything and blowing everything up in order to win.

For some reason Mirror's Edge sounded familiar, but I could not understand why until last night. I downloaded it for my phone when it was the free "App of the Week". The app is side-view but reviews gave it a plus as a nice adaption to the original, so I will definitely go for that one at some point.

Again, thank you all. More suggestions are always welcome.

I'd recommend Portal. It's a puzzle type game and it's actually quite enjoyable. Some other ones I'd recommend would be Half Life and Half Life 2. There is killing in that but that is not all the game focuses on and is no the main point of the game. Minecraft is also a really good choice if you don't have it already

Well it is not really I guess a third person game but I have always recommended Katamari to everyone who wants to have a fun and a challenging game without any violence or anything like that in it.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
