My journey to becoming a healthier person has been a long one. While my journey isn't over, I've come a long, long way from where I was about 7 years ago.

When I was 25 I became partially paralyzed. Because of the mistakes of a few Doctors. I won't go into all of that. However, with hard work and determination I was able to get myself out of that wheelchair and walk again. I had physical therapy for FOUR years, changed my diet and started eating healthier. And as an added bonus, I lost 48 pounds. Weight I had gained from a prescription medication that did nothing for my condition.

I had seizures and black outs on a regular/daily basis. I was so tired of having to have someone else feed and bathe me. I was used to having me independence and in an instant it was all taken away from me.

I was told I wouldn't get better. Well, I wasn't going to take that sitting down, so to speak. I did something about it. And guess what? I proved the world WRONG.

My daily physical therapy routine was aquatic exercises. Stretches and various movements, (with help of someone else moving my arms and legs). After the first two years of having the physical therapy, I was able to start walking with a walker. After another two years of walking with a walker, I was able to FINALLY walk on my own again.

That was the HAPPIEST day of my life. After that experience, I wanted to help others to achieve their dreams and goals in life.

Now my new journey consists of losing 100 more pounds. I am going to succeed. No matter what anyone thinks or says I can or can't do. I know myself, I know I can do this. And I will. It may take years, but I will achieve my goals and dreams. I WILL get there.

My name is Corrina. This is my story of the struggles I've faced and how I over came them. You can do it, all you have to do is believe it and have patience with yourself. It will happen for you. If I can do it, then anyone can!

Hello Corina. Like you I have battled health problems. A few years ago I had really bad headaches and my whole body was hurting really bad. It turned out I had a brain tumor. It was later determined to be non cancerous. However, the brain tumor was rapidly growing and my health was getting worse. My behavior also changed as it was pressing against my nerves and frontal Lobe. Doctors told me if they did not get it I would eventually die, but while the chance was low I could have a stroke on the operating table. On Jan 1st 2010 I had the tumor removed. I spent most of that year recovering. But I also realized how God guided the surgeon's hands and how I was still a child of his. So in 2011 I rededicated my life to Christ. Also around the brain tumor time it was proved what many thought for years since age 4 I was Autistic so I was ashamed of who I was. That has now changed. I am not an Autism advocate, went on to get my Masters degree, and I also try to minister on my facebookk group as well. I hope this encourages you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow....corrina. What is there to say? You have really changed and I mean a lot for the better. You are now confident and willing to do so many things as, before you didn't want too. I am so proud to have you as my friend, no I mean as my best friend. You struggled with a lot of things, people used to push you down a lot. And it made you feel so sad....look at you now corrina. I will tell you and I will say this again, remember what I said before? Things are looking up to you now, and for the better including you life. ^-^

SunflowerGaming : I realize that this is a much older post, but you rock. My passion is fitness and health type of things and seeing people overcome obstacles such as yours is one of the greatest most inspirational things I could read about. If you ever need any help with staying positive on a weight loss journey which has it's own unique ups and downs, I'm here to help and be supportive. My philosophy with it is to not pay attention to a number on the scale when it is not going anywhere and you know you are working out hard and eating right. You should pay attention to the inches you are losing and how your clothes are fitting. For me, I've been underweight all of my life. I focused one summer too much on the number on the scale when I was attempting to gain weight and not how I felt and even though I got all the way to 120 pounds, I didn't feel good and I was not very strong. I lost my small amount of muscle by sitting around all the time and when I flew to Korea for my years stay abroad, I didn't look very great in my first months pictures. I am currently figuring out what is best for me which is what everyone should do, but I can always offer some advice here and there. I might start T25 after I finish my push up and squat 30 day challenges. I'm doing my transformation for strength and to get toned and I am hoping the weight will come naturally afterwards. I'm 105 again like I have been since high school and I'm almost done with college now, but again, I can and will help you and offer support. Please private message me if you are interested because I really do love to help people. It makes me feel good and it lets me rant about health and nutrition things. Again, go you!

All I can say after reading that is wow... you're amazing... I could never do something like that in my life I would have gave up a long time ago. I know you can do it after coming this far there's no reason to go back.

SunflowerGaming : Wow, I am really happy that you were able to turn everything around and that you worked on getting healthier. I can't imagine what it would be like trying to essentially teach your body to walk again.
I hope that the rest of your journey is filled with nothing but success, I hope that you can lose the hundred pounds and that you achieve all other health related goals that you may place. I will be rooting for you.

That was one of the best posts I have ever read.  It was inspirational and really got my emotions churning.  With the amount of determination that you've shown I'm sure you will be able to accomplish any goal you set your mind too.  Congratulations and keep on truckin.

fightorace : You're too kind. I'm really glad it touched you. My purpose for posting this was to maybe help others or touch other people's lives. Glad I did.
