So when did you first became interested in furries?

I was interested in furries a few years ago. (maybe when i was 13). Before i found cooleird (cool and weird) how people make art of animals dressed and walking like humans.

Mmm...when I was a little puppy. I'd always prefered things with anthro characters over humans. Now, I prefer everything over humans. I used to watch a lot of movies, and the ones with animals always seemed dramatically better to me, especially Watership Down.

I like the creatures of Earth exept humans who destroy everything in their path to gather those priceless green papers and common metals.

Quhark : That's hyperbole, right?  You're not being serious in that every human destroys everything in pursuit of money?

Around ten when I found this webcomic. It has since been discontinued by the artist though.

An interesting question: In truth I guess i've always wanted to be one. It initially started out when I was really young. An uncle of mine had a room in his house dedicated to wolves, its kind of a fancy room. It has artwork of wolves all over, a fake bust of a wolf head, and i'm not sure if it was real or fake but what seemed to be a wolf pelt. Just seeing a wolf was kinda mesmerizing. They're amazingly beautiful creatures that I had a million questions to ask about. 

But I loved wolves so much as a kid I wanted to be one. I use to pretend being one outside a lot or when I went to the park during the summer. And as I got older it went from there and I met another wolf, I was about 12 or 13. She introduced me to the community. I was blown away by the awesome artwork of others but envious I couldn't draw well at all to give my fursona the right image. 

I know a lot of Disney and looney tunes probably played bunches into a lot of it as well. And speaking of shows and or movies a recent movie called "Wolf Children" was finally brought here to America and that movie alone made me love wolves all over again. Humanity is fine sometimes but most days I think I would take my true wolfish self over most things without much thought.

I becames a furry after a few months of flying an Arwing.

Although I liked Sonic before then, just wasn't much of a furry back then though.
I really love Sonic nowaday, but Star Fox says furry more to me.

I really had to backtrack through my memory to find an answer to this one.  I think it was planted by Sonic games then grew when I took a quiz on what furry I was. Although frustrated by my answers (60% of them were Rabbits and trust me when I say that doesn't fit with my incredibly aggressive and slightly purmiscuis personality) my interest slowly grew until it finally made sense. Now I'm full blown furry (just no fur suits... Ever).

I would say when I was like 3 i've always actually sort of wanted to be a furry in my own way so I would pretend and say I love furry like things like Star Fox or Mitch the Mouse (A furry made by me) and people would always make fun of me for it but. I just keep loving them and growing with them

I got interested in furries around the time I actually got onto the internet. I was semi-interested when I first played Sonic the Hedgehog, but at the time I didn't know what a Furry was. Then we got a desktop that me and my brother shared, and I got interested in them when I was messing around on a online game website.

Hmm, I've been interesting it them for a very long time, every since I can remember.

I'd like to blame Crash Bandicoot and his games, but I only became aware of the fandom several months before I joined and even then I never took an interest in it and never understood it until NightFaux of FurAffinity explained it more that one faithful night in July 2008~ The rest is history :3

You could say I've always been into it, because I've always enjoyed the idea of anthropomorphic animals since I was a kid because I grew up watching Looney Tunes.  But I didn't start knowing what furries were and didn't start to get into it until I was around 13 years old (7 years ago) when I was first introduced to the Sonic The Hedgehog games.  Tails very rapidly became my favorite character from there, and that resulted in sparking my interest in furries. 

A few years later, I met a friend named Zach who was really into furries, and he introduced me to FurAffinity.  The rest was pretty much history.

supercool22 : I got interested in furries when my friend, Dayovernight/Damion forced me to rp as a wolf anthro with him! But before that dogs have tried doing... that kinda stuff with me... so I guess I was kinda always one? I don't know if that counts, cause I don't do that stuff, but oh well. xD

Ehh, it's kind of a long and odd story. Ever since I watched an animated movie that involved some garbage-loving aliens crash-landing into Earth and wanting to turn it into a massive dump when I was a child, I've always wanted to create my own pollution-loving villain character.

Some years later I discovered Slightly Damned and its artist's (Sarah "Chu" Wilson) work via deviantArt, and this picture immediately grabbed my attention. After meeting and talking to the character's creator in the comic's forums and assorted chat services for a while, he introduced me to the fandom and convinced me into making my character a skunk due to their infamy as stinky vermin and their tendency to feed on human garbage.

That was about two/three years ago... Now I have three "main" skunk 'sonas and an "alternate" fox one, with only one of them (my first character/sona) being a pollution lover - nowadays I'm actually more interested in the species' peculiar musk/scent than in waste, heh~ :3

i'd have to say, as far back as i can remember tbh. although i just checked and my old FA account (only ever used it to keep track of artists i like) is now around 6 years old. thats probably about the time i started checking out the community online even though i've never done much aside from checking out the art and whatnot. >.>

It was in my childhood when I started to be interested in anthropomorphic animals (in that time I didn't know what was furry), thanks to the animated cartoons I watched in TV, shows like Tiny Toons and Animaniacs and animes like Digimon, I instantly fell in love with characters like Fify La Fume and Renamon, but if I have to choose one and only one character responsible for my liking I must say it was Minerva Mink.

If we are talking about soul roots of what could be possibly considered a liking of anthropomorphic animals.. Etc.. Then it would probably be Sonic the hedgehog or even Star fox... In terms of anthropomorphic animals having a personality I liked.. But saying that I can't really recall when I became interested in furries.... I used to play neopets... I used to always pick the animal characters in Final Fantasy games... Plus I've always loved foxes...Especially Tails... but meh....

Honestly never really bothered to think about it because I just go on with my everyday life... 

The root of it would have to be at Sonic, were my base furry interests were planted. Then finding the community, well, lets just say I hit puberty and found that one part of the fandom, then found the core fandom from there. Though I will never wear a fursuit (a full one anyways), likely never go to a convention, or make a fursona.

You know that is a really good question. I had to do a lot of backtracking on this one and think carefully about it before I could reply.
I would say that I got interested in Furries when I was at least 13 (I'm 21 now.) One of my friends in school would always say that if she could be any animal she would be a Ferret. I honestly thought she was crazy. However, when she showed me the world of Furries, Fursonas, etc I grew amazed. I started to love them as well. A few weeks after she showed me I went up to my friend again and gave her a BIG HUG and showed her my own personal Furry. Even now I'm still furry lover and I will continue to be.
