Ah Pikmin. I LOVE the Pikmin games! This game was one of the main reasons I got a WiiU. I apologize in advance for heavily comparing to the other games, but I'll try to explain the best I can. But enough mucking around, let's get started on the review!

OVERALL: 9
This was a great game. Both as a sequel, and a stand-alone title. This game is MUCH more forgiving then its predecessors. Which can be either a good thing, or unnecessary. Depending on how good at the game you are, or how much you want sequels to be nothing different than before. This game introduces us to the burly plant, animal, and mineral mixture known as Rock Pikmin. And the cheerful, yet weak, but very helpful pink Flying Pikmin. As you can tell from looking at the game, there is a stunning lack of Olimar (The main character from the first two games), but there's a good reason for that. This game has more areas to explore than either games before it. But it doesn't offer as much exploration as Pikmin 2 did. (But thankfully less Gatling Groinks...)

GRAPHICS: 10
The graphics for this game are beautiful, to say the least. The ship and captains look cool, the environments are amazing! And the Pikmin, along with the enemies, while still ridiculous looking, look pretty realistic at times. And little things like hiding in patches of low hanging plants and patches of clovers. Or building a bridge. All make the game look even better. Each individual Pikmin does a single task, which makes them seem more bug-like. Even some of the bosses, look almost lifelike!

SOUND: 8
The background music is nice. And the gibberish that out captains speak in is pretty silly at times. But it's not the greatest in the world. But still nothing to sneeze at. Everything from the screaming and panicking that idle captains, and Pikmin make when in danger/being eaten can cause you to freak out as well. And the sounds bosses and enemies make before they die can sometimes be the most beautiful sound in the game.
Spoiler:
Totaka's song can be found if you have 20 Flying Pikmin in your squad.

ADDICTIVENESS: 6
Well, on my first playthrough I could hardly put the Gamepad down. I was hooked! But, I haven't had much motivation to replay it. (Until I started this review...) It's definitely enough to keep you intensely playing, at least for the first time.

STORY: 7
Pikmin games have had interesting stories. (Which I'll explain in detail when I review the other two) But 3 is about three explorers, Alf, Charlie, and Brittany. From the planet Koppai. They were sent to find fruit for the starving inhabitants of everyone else on Koppai. Koppaites aren't good at "planning", "foresight", and "teamwork". They crashed onto the planet, that they've codenamed PNF-404. But they lost their Cosmic Drive Key, which is their only means to get back home. All three of them discover creatures called Pikmin. Which seem more than eager to help them gather food, and helping them track their Key down. But unfortunately the planet has many, many dangerous creatures on it as well. As well as signs of someone else on the planet. And judging from the data chips he's left behind, an overambitious treasure hunter with an overeating sidekick. Who has the Cosmic Drive key! But he's in trouble it seems. But you can't forget about the fruits also.

DEPTH: 5 This game isn't really that deep. The levels feel linear at times, and like I said before, it doesn't offer as much exploration as Pikmin 2 did. There are secrets in the game, but it's not the hardest thing in the world to find them.

DIFFICULTY: 7
The controls are great. They're pretty easy to learn, although I sometimes forget how to dismiss your squad. Unlike the other games, the second control stick isn't to control the Pikmin with you. They follow you almost single file this time around. Which prevents many, many, many infuriating moments. But still, this game can be very tricky at times. Even for a veteran Pikmin Tosser. But it's by no means a bad game. It is a great game to start out with too . But having three tossable captains leads to more elaborate puzzles. And even more so now that there is fire, water, bomb, electricity, glass/crystal, flying, and lifting puzzles and enemies. This game makes you think strategically, and carefully. Unless you're a complete monster, and like to see those little Pikmin die . This game has lots of spikes in difficulty at times, but, that's where the forgiving nature of the game comes into play. You can restart the current day, or go back to any previous day and do things all over if you choose.

All in all, this is a great game. Even if you didn't play the first two, you'll still love it. It's definitely one of the better games available for the WiiU.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

You've got a Wii U?  CURSE YOU!!!!!!!!!!  jk jk

The review was good, but was lacking in depth.  I got the premise of the game, and learned a bit about the plot and the features, but this felt more like a description/advertisement for the game than a review.  I felt genuinely interested in the game, but those unfamiliar with the Pikmin franchise might find it difficult to read this review.

Again, it wasn't a bad review.  I just feel it needs to be a little more fleshed out for those that are unfamiliar with Pikmin, and even for Pikmin fans (such as more comparisons to Pikmin 2).

But I realize you'll likely be busy this month.

A user of this : Naw, it's OK.  I understand.  You're trying to do well in the competition, so you aren't able to think things through as well as you'd want to.  Unfortunately, the competition seems to award quantity over quality.  I wish it were not so, but otherwise it would be a lot more difficult for David to keep up, and he already has a lot on his plate.

I would like to see more, but I fully understand if you want to wait until after the month is over to start....or if you forget about it, etc., it's no problem.  I just like to see high quality workers, not so much high quality work.  High quality workers will get the job done.  They may not be the most skilled at what they do, but they will eventually become skilled at what they do because they love the work.  I could tell that you enjoyed making the review, and of course, that you love Pikmin (I love it too!).

I hope to see more of your stuff in the future!

supernerd117 : I actually wasn't doing it for the competition. Although I found out how much CP it earned me. I just liked the game, and I needed some Viz (But I can see why you wouldn't believe me ^-^'). But thanks! I've got some more reviews in the works right now actually. Glad to hear you liked it.

Wow this is good, kinda made me miss the 2nd Pikmin for the Wii though . I've never really payed much attention to Pikmin, Mother, Megaman (etc) games cause they're always been quite small, unpopular games to me but this actually sounds fun, might go buy a WiiU now! Great review in my eyes and seeing the adverts for the game I agree with everything you said ^•^!

A user of this : That was a pretty nice review, I do agree with supernerd that adding in a little more depth to this review may have help it gain more interest in the long run. But still overall it was an okay review nice job!
