REVIEW TITLE : TOMB RAIDER DEFINATIVE EDITION SYSTEM : PS4 BY GOLGO 14

{ GOLGO 14 is sitting at a dinner table talking to Lara Croft.. Golgo reaches across the table to cup his hands over Lara's hands, looks into her eyes and says}; "Lara , it has been an eternity since I last remember spending time with you, but darling, a lot has changed with the world, I've changed Lara ,and I've got to tell you something, I really did love you, but I moved on with my life..YOU WEREN'T WILLING TO CHANGE! I just wanted more out of our relationship..near the end, as you got worse, I just stuck around because I..I just felt sorry for you, please don't judge me, I'm just being honest. We both know you were just getting worse and worse and eventually I couldn't bear it anymore, I had to move on." "What's that?.. Who were they? Umm, well you know Elizabeth, right? Yup, that's her real voice, but it got a little too complicated for me and before that there was Claire and Jill and Cortan..err wait, Lara umm, listen.. the point is baby , now that I see the woman you are today I want to know what I gotta do to get my Boo back. Please, I'll do anything..if this is who you are NOW then I'm ALL IN ok? My chips are on the table agai..What's that? YOU'RE SEEING SOMEONE? How could you? What's his name???..Nathan?? Really? What does HE got that I don't have besides good looks, amazing combat abilities and amazing treasure hunting skills and ..hey wait? Why are you leaving? We just got here.. Lara?? Lara!!{GOLGO looks down at his empty dinner table and weeps..}" Goodbye my love."......

LET'S GET TO IT!!! TIME TO REVIEW!!

GRAPHICS: 10 To say Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has amazing graphics would really be like calling a Porche fast...everyone is aware of that..What people want to know is..what is it about the graphics that make them so amazing? Well then, buckle up folks and lets take this Porche for a spin and see what she's got under the hood. First off, what struck me right away was the intense amount painstaking detail put into EVERYTHING. When Lara gets wet, you can actually see her shiver! I know that might seem small, but I've never seen a character model act so convincingly. The way each individual stand of her hair is animated and reacts accordingly depending on the condition astounds. The environments that Lara explores on this island are so photo realistic, so full of lush, vibrant detail, I can't count the number of times I would pause the game to soak it all in wishing I could just go there; to the edge of that cliff by the sparkling ocean littered with old pirate ships staring off into the sunset or looking down from a beautiful waterfall high atop a mountain cascading into the misty lake below, no matter where I was in the game I FELT AS IF I WAS THERE. The graphics are an experience of their own.Allow me to tip my hat to the Graphic Design and Art team.. you guys nailed it!

SOUND:10 The score to Tomb Raider is orchestrated much like a AAA Blockbuster Hollywood Adventure in which it adapts according to the situation. When there is action, the music swells with bombastic percussion sounds that change every stage to when the action fades and exploration takes precedence and quiets down you hear more subtle instruments like pan flutes and warm strings creating ambience and greatly enhancing the immersion. The sound design actually made me jump the first time I went into combat. The designers creatively use the built in speaker in the PS4 controller for when after you strike an enemy, you HEAR the end result of whatever you used to get the job done. From the menacing growls of the unknown hiding in the darkness that sent chills up my spine to the raging storm at sea crackling with lightening the music and sound design are flawless and really make this title soar!

ADDICTIVENESS:9 Tomb Raider is a blueprint for future designers of how to make a AAA 3rd person Adventure title. It does away with awkward camera issues and controls(which in my opinion is usually the most difficult mechanics to get right)and streamlines everything so there is no disconnect from the moment to moment gameplay. I have NEVER experienced a 3rd person adventure title that immerses you so effortlessly. There are so many secrets to uncover that are full of wonder and awe that have been tucked away and will keep you coming back, so many epic moments that surpassed what I expected from this title and above all how anything I did in this game felt just right from beginning to end. So fun !**There is also a

multiplayer mode to fall back onto when you've seen and done it all but unfortunately it just seems like an afterthought..

STORY: 8 Like the entire production of this game, the story aims for this big AAA Blockbuster

Adventure movie along the lines of the Indiana Jones quadrilogy and hits where it counts. To be precise it takes more of the serious tone of Raiders of the Lost Arc (minus the humor) than the other three and runs with it. The plot (without giving anything away)involves LOTS of really savage villains plot twists that you might not see coming but most apparent is that the focus goes to the protagonist and is the story of how she became the great Tomb Raider.

Like most Hollywood action/adventure movies the action trumps the script and won't win any awards but since when did people go see an action/adventure movie and after leaving the theatre say something like "Wow the script in between the gun battles was amazing.. especially after those huge explosions!" I'll tell you when...NEVER!

CHALLENGE:7 Tomb Raider presents a moderate to intermediate challenge. There are many fun puzzles to solve within the game but nothing too taxing. The action offers lots of different platforming challenges and some pretty epic boss battles but all in all I really didn't die too often and reached the end in about 6-8 hours. If you are new to 3rd person adventure games and have never played a Tomb Raider game before add +1 to my score.

CONCLUSION: Lara returns in such a stunning way. Tomb Raider is certainly the best Tomb Raider game I have ever played and one of the greatest 3rd person adventure games of all time! The developers deserve all the highest praise for successfully rebooting a long lost love of mine and installing great anticipation in this gamer for her next epic adventure!

Quite a nice review you have here. I like how you split it up into sections and gave each section lots of detail. My only issue is that story at the beginning. What's the point of it?

I did actually like Tomb Raider, but i know a lot of old lara croft fans who were really dissapointed.

Boxia : As always thank you for reading! The little story at the beginning is my humble way of explaining how I felt how the old Tomb Raider games lost their way because they were very difficult to control and after part 2 felt like they were going through the motions with no fresh ideas. The re-boot needed to adapt to modern standards that I felt took a lot of inspiration from the Uncharted series hence Lara's boyfriend Nathan.I can understand the negative reaction some long time Tomb Raider fans have been giving this game because this title doesn't really have the ingenious puzzles(that in my opinion were the highlights)of the older games and the length needed to satisfy hard core fans and is really more action than exploration. I feel the inevitable sequel might address these issues though..
