I don't.  I like to see huge men run into each other, hit each other, hit objects a long way, through objects a long way, and do everything at the highest level.

I could not care less if steroids were used.

Do you?

Yes I do, I do not think it is fair for guys who work hard and try to be the best they can be. Only to lose roster spots to guys who are juicing. I also do not think it is fair for athletes who work hard and are passion at what they do. Steroids has hurt sports records are tainted due to cheaters, people have cheated to earn their spots, and what message is it sending.

Not to mention steroid use has some really negative effects. Their have been reports of roid rage. Here are some examples: The Blade runner due to heavy steroid use shot his girlfriend to death in South Africa. Roger Clemens in 2000 World series in what many has believed to been roid rage threw the bat at Mike Piazza. Brian Giles beat up his wife in act of roid rage.

I know some on here will disagree with me but I do care about steroids and I think they are bad

Well, it isn't so much doing it individually, but the message it sends. Steroid abuse has a list of dangers. We all know them. To name a few for men- testicular atrophy, decreased sperm count, gynecomastia (enlarged breasts in men), high blood pressure, increased LDL (bad) cholesterol, decreased HDL (good) cholesterol, fluid retention, abnormal liver function, and prostate enlargement, etc. Now, some of those are not necessarily life threatening, but some of them are. Especially when you get into the risk of liver failure, increase in prone to injury, increased cardiovascular and prostate problems.

Now, somebody uses them, they are taking on that risk. Whatever. But here is where I have a problem. If you are  a college or professional athlete, you are a role model for kids. Doing that just shows kids who dream of playing sports when they grow up that the only way to succeed is to do something harmful to themselves. So for me, it isn't the issue that people do that to themselves. But the fact that they influence the younger generation makes it a problem.

Aside from the direct health risks, there is the well known roid rage side effect. In extreme abusers, it is no joke. That uncontrollable rage is not something to take lightly. It puts people such as spouses at risk. Is that something we want younger generations to be influenced to do to themselves?

I think that if someone wants to use steroids, that the consequences are theirs alone to bear.  Steroids are banned from sports because they may pose a risk, and expecting everybody to expose their health to chance is foolish.  As long as the substance is proven to be harmless though, I don't think it should be considered a banned steroid.

On top of what rcarter said, I think the real problem is it punishes people who dont want to use them. If its a choice between a gorilla of a man or an otherwise average kind of guy the choice is obvious. The only way to make the cut would be to take steroids and its not fair to expect everyone to do that given the risks of their use.

Truthfully, not at all. I really don't care what they use, and I don't care if it is fair. I just want to see a good game.

I am more worried about them used outside of sports. Like by bouncers and security guards. Some pro-athlete is not going to beat me up when I am out in the night trying to have a good time. Maybe. Well once they get the boot I know where they end up, if you know what I mean?

It is kind of confusing when you have to give your jacket to some guy at a club the size of a rhino who is clearly trying to fight back roid rage just not to kill you on sight.

Yes, steroids give an unfair advantage. You wouldn't believe the amount of time people spend in the gym bulking up and getting stronger so they can perform even better in their sport while some guy just sticks a needle in his arm and gets going on his way. I can say from experience that it takes a lot of hard work to get stronger when you work out in the gym. You must have hours committed just for that. It just gives an unfair advantage. People who don't play sports probably won't understand what I'm getting at.

I mean,  seriously. My favorite posts in this thread were Moblin's and rcarter's.

But..

Steroids give a risk, but they do kind of make you stronger and tougher. That is obviously unfair because many people work hours a day working to be tough instead of taking these and I am very happy these are banned. And in Baseball as well, some players and even hall of fame players used those.
