Well I was too tired to go to school today after staying up until 3 AM last night doing homework, so I decided that I am not going to school. My mom said that was fine, but she is taking away all of my electronic things. I took my laptop and phone into bed with me and went back to sleep. I just woke up and tried to go on my laptop. It said that my Wi-Fi- network was there, so I clicked on it and put in the password. I waited 10 minutes and nothing happened. I tried on my phone and it told me that there was an error. I went downstairs, but all of the lights on the router and modem were on, meaning that they are functioning. I looked to see if any wires were unplugged and I did not notice any, but I could be wrong. I tried out the house computer, which is what I am typing this from, since it is connected to the router. Needless to say, it works fine. How do I get the wireless Internet to work again?

This happens to me sometimes. What I usually do is unplug the router your Wi-Fi comes from, wait 12 seconds, then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, try restarting your laptop (Or phone) if it doesn't reconnect.

Turn off the modem, then wait 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, turn the modem back on. After it's fully on, try accessing the internet again.

Edit: User, y u so ninja?

What brand router do you have ?

Unplug all the cords from the back of the WIRELESS router *not any other router*, and keep it unplugged for 60 seconds and then plug them all back in where they originally were.

Huh. So I see that everyone thinks it is just a glitch, not my mom pulling something on me. Alright, I will try it and let you know what happens. Be right back!

zeross121 :

No luck My mom probably pulled a wire out somewhere and I am just missing it. I guess I should be happy I can still use this computer, but the keyboard is a lot worse than my laptop and it is a lot slower, which means I really won't be able to keep up in the Tour de Vizzed.

mrfe : I do not see any loose wires, but there is no wire is a space that is labelled "3".

It is a Netgear, and my internet is provided by Optimum.

Okay, sorry. I don't have any ideas that aren't blatantly obvious. I apologize. Check the back of the router for a Wi-Fi off button ? other than that I'm clueless. Your mom is smart

Your computer that is working, is it plugging directly into that wireless router? If that is the case, there is no way she "pulled out a wire", as that would effect the computer that is plugged in as well.

She may of changed an option in the router. There should be a "reset" button on the side/back of the router; it's very small. Hit that, it will reset all the settings, including the password, so you will have to call your internet service provider or maybe just google what that provider uses as a default password for that router.  It's usually "password" or something.

It was probably the most simple thing in the world - she changed the password on me. On my first guess I got it right. She isn't very good at coming up with passwords, she just used her Apple ID password.
