I'd much rather have a single good friend that I can trust with anything, through thick and thin, than a thousand fair weather friends.  In my life, I can count my friends on the fingers of my hands, with plenty of fingers to spare, but they are all good friends, and I know they have my back through anything.

I'd much rather a close knit group of friends instead of multiple friends. I'm not one for liking large groups of people, so a tight group of friends works out much better for me.

I get lots of brief acquaintances and friendships that, as time goes on, I cut out of my life to focus on the few relationships that work, that I’m comfortable in being myself with and sparing time for their interests.

That said, I've cut away those I have close to my heart when things got tough, and just spent time with others, strangers.

I've always had a large group of friends, It's not that i prefer it to having fewer friends. It's just the situation i've found myself in during my life.

As someone that can pretty much open up to anyone, I don't really have much of a difference between a close friend and just your run of the mill everyday acquaintance.

Heck if they can cope with me they're a friend for life

For me, close friends would be the better option...

But I don't really go with that.

I tend to let things happen, and not have much influence on things. And with that, I have many many friends who aren't close. I have a few who are, but I can't really trust. To be honest, I only have one close close friend and the only way I can speak to him is through this website. 

I suppose it depends on the person. I'm happy with the way my life is currently, but I don't think I'd have anyone to lean on if something really bad goes down.
