No different.  People would still have squabbles, people would find different things to fight about, and we'd still have rules and ethics, and the 'law of the land.'  Animals that live in packs or socialize have rules in their groups and humans are no different.

I don't see much in the way of changes.  We'd have different things to celebrate and use different words but it would probably be about the same.

Well, to BEGIN WITH,

We wouldn't have had:

- The Inquisition
- The Crusades
- The Wars between Israel and Palestine

Oh and we wouldn't have had:

- The Caste system of India
- Monasteries, Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, or Temples. No Vatican City either.

And this is where we're going crazy:

- We would have a different calendar
- We would have different moral law codes.

So yeah that's all that would change.

a-sassy-black-lady : Scientology was created within "this day and age."

Even before Christianity, religion was used to segregate and bend laws towards the wills of men in power.
The ideal of religion was a tool, it has become something else.

I feel if no religion were to occur or be made a lot would change such as the religious reasoned wars mentioned prior ,but also maybe a lesser or greater number of crimes could occur or also mentioned before a different moral code.

Monstrous : the Church of Scientology is a rich and vengeful religious cult, or as one critic puts it, "a cross between the Moonies and the Mafia." But it would be a mistake to dismiss its underlying technology as harmless or ineffective. Scientologists know a great deal about thought control, social control, rhetorical judo (defeat by misdirection, deft use of logical fallacies) and high pressure sales, though as victims of their own technology, they wouldn't characterize it that way.

i copyed that from a website it sounds like a brian washing cult more then a religon?

a-sassy-black-lady : Can you describe the difference between the two? Honestly, the motives are the same, as are the methods.

Cults are a group of people that follow a religion, that may not be "popular."

We are all humans and make so many mistakes so that definatly wouldn't change! I think that some people who believe in a certain religon like Christianity would be completely different if it didn't exist.. many laws and contributions in our world would be different as well!

Interesting concept. If the world had no "religion" then it would probably be more chaotic. Of course please understand that this is hypothetical of course.

Religion, in general, is something that can either bring people together or tear them apart so to speak. So, if there were no religion then there would definitely be more chaos. Less people would be standing together with their beliefs. In fact, everybody might have totally different beliefs according to their own ideals. If that's the case then the world would see more fights, more "gods" (probably something like Greek mythology, Egyptian mythology etc.) and probably a lack of society in general. Including to a total disruption of society we probably wouldn't have education as we have right now. So simply stating, if religion in general did not exist society and life as we know it today would not exist.

It's hard to imagine a world without religion given that there are far more people that believe in some kind of religion than no religion at all. In fact the number of non-religious people is shockingly low compared to every other belief system, at least according to several statistics that I have read. However, since we are speaking hypothetically, I would answer that I believe a world without religion wouldn't be any better than the world we live in now. There would still be wars, there have been many non-religious wars so we cannot blame that on religion. There would still be dictators who rise and fall with their own ideals. There would still be a deteriorating economic system with the ridiculously wealthy on one side of the spectrum and those in extreme poverty on the other, homeless and starving and no where to turn. People would still be separated from one another by things like language, wealth, appearance, heritage, social status, education, etc. You know, not every religion is bad, in fact a lot of religious groups do a lot of good and charitable deeds that really do help make this world a little bit better. When you take that away, and you take away the hope that something better is out there waiting, I think the world would quickly become a pretty desolate place to be.

I think that if there was no religion, it would simply be the result of people being more educated, and people having access to information. When people make a claim about religion, it can be verified or unverified with a few clicks of a button. The population of non-religious groups are rising at a very fast pace. I also disagree that it would be the same, as warmaker points out, There are MASSIVE conflicts among just muslim groups themselves, only fueled by religious dogma that wouldn't exist without certain religious doctrines.

Anyway, if there was no religion, there would be more room for people to use critical thinking, since people wouldn't be indoctrinated into believing something is true, which is the opposite of critical thought. That might be a bit hopeful though.

Well people would have little or no morals to live by . Nothing to tell you right from wrong. Kids would be exposed to a number of things too early. It would be a chaotic world ... but we as humans would probably adapt and fix it .. either that or try to survive by turning on each other.
