Sorry for the second summon in the same evening, but I always like to hear from you in conversation and we want the Geezer Corner to be the most popular forum!  My last thread gave me an idea for this thread.  Look out, I'm on a roll, geeogree:
In this age where it's so easy to grab a whole TV series on DVD and watch multiple episodes in one sitting, I am curious to hear about any recommendations from the geezers.  Which series did you love watching as a youngster or have you enjoyed recently?  What do you recommend for upcoming winter-fun watching?  Movie suggestions would be great too!  I'd love to hear from the older members about this since I'm not ever going to like anime or whatever those young kids are watching today!  Tell me your favorites please

My recommendations for TV series:
M*A*S*H
Seinfeld
Frasier
Hill Street Blues
Magnum, P.I.
24
Criminal Minds
Game of Thrones and Homeland (binge-watched these recently and they were great, but they were made for cable channels so be aware of bad language and violence)

I'm mostly into shows targeting younger audiences. That said, I liked Boy Meets World (most epic show of my youth), and Keenan & Kel.

Newer shows: Psych (you have to watch this! lol)...that's pretty much it, I guess. I mostly watch cartoons, so I can't recommend too much outside of that. Oh, and Disney shows, though they aren't exactly showing their best shows ever now.

Yep, this post was an epic fail, but I tried anyway.

As for all time, It has to be with no doubt in my mind  The Walking Dead. I been into the comics book series of the same name since 2005, 2006ish. It really is a story driven show. Also Breaking Bad is amazing aswel. They are both on AMC. Shameless on showtime is one I keep up with. The new season starts back up in January. Dexter, True Blood, Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Curb your enthusiasm to name a few off the top of my head. For growing up Lets see how many I can name with being quick about it. Full House, The Wonder Years, Family Matters, Step by Step, Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Martin, In Living color, Tales From The Crypt and Tales From The Dark-side.

This one's a little difficult for me, as I don't find myself easily amused by the television. XD  However, some shows I've enjoyed recently have been  The Middle and The Neighbors if you like something a little more quirky.  Based off the shows you like, I'd definitely recommend Hogan's Heros if you haven't tried it already.  Maybe you'd like King of Queens?

Let's see I've really never been a big tv show person outside of the great Nickelodeon show I grew up with and I do watch an insane amount of anime. But there were some shows I have found that I have liked Friends, That 70's Show, Burn Notice, Scrubs, Reaper, Dinosaurs, Bones, Eureka, Greek, Monk

I'm not a huge tv guy when it comes to entertainment.  I watch mostly sports on tv.  There are a few shows I've enjoyed.  Breaking Bad was very well written, well acted, and an incredible story.  I also like most of Adult Swim, from Family Guy to the older Aqua Teen shows.  Bob's Burgers is surprisingly open-minded and fresh and Archer may be my all time favorite show... or Boondocks.

My wife watches shows regularly and I generally leave the room when the TV is one when she's watching.  I would rather go play a game or do something constructive, like fix the house, than watch most television programming out there.

This one is a little hard.. I had to do some serious thinking about it so , so far I got.

M*A*S*H
Bones
House
The Big Bang Theory
Frasier
And the anime geek in me requires me to say DBZ and OHSHC.

Thanks so much for your replies everybody!  After reading all your responses I've realized I've already watched way too much TV since I've seen many of the shows you've all listed LOL!  Oh well, let's hope it's a Jeopardy category if I ever make it on the show

Eirinn : I LOVED Boy Meets World too!  Did you know there's a new show coming out Girl Meets World?  It's going to be about Cory and Tapenga's daughter   I can't wait for it!  Thanks for
your response!  I have heard good things about Psych and those other shows from the USA network (I think).  I will add it to my winter watching list!  Not an epic fail at all

cujocricket :   Thanks for your list!  I loved many of those shows from the 90s!  I think you listed the whole TGIF lineup   I have heard such good things about Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead (haven't watched either of those).  I will add those to my list for sure (my boyfriend loves zombie movies, so I will have to watch The Walking Dead with him).

Awesome-Kid : Are You Afraid of the Dark was such a great show!  Although I'm pretty sure that show is why I'm afraid of clowns...not sure which episode it was...trying to repress that memory LOL!  Thanks for your other titles!  I will check some of those out that I haven't seen before!

Singelli :   Oh yes I love The Middle too!  I watch that one on Hulu every weekend   Hogan's Heroes is classic!  I've seen lots of those episodes-I had a big crush on Richard Dawson and his English accent   Thanks for the other titles and I will add to my list!

xxdougiexxfreshx :   I think I missed the anime boat since it seems like lots of people a couple years younger than me really love it   I will add Bones and Burn Notice to my list since I've heard those mentioned to me before as great series, but have never seen them!  I think I've seen episodes of all the other ones...Dinosaurs and Friends-loved those too

warmaker :   I will definitely have to get the Breaking Bad DVDs.  Everybody is always talking about that show.  Thanks for your other  recommendations too

Namrea :   Awesome!  Someone else that loves M*A*S*H!  Don't you just love typing those asterisk **   Have you ever played the Atari game on here?  It's nothing like the show but it's fun to play it anyway!  It seems like our lists are very similar and I will have to get the Bones DVD, since that's the only one on your list that I haven't seen!  And the anime too   I love House too-I forgot that one on my list!  "Everybody lies" hahaha love it!

Singelli : I haven't watched Community, but I have heard that's another good one!  I love those fun-loving comedies like The Office and Modern Family too.  They really help me unwind after a LONG BUSY week at school!
TV is my escape from reality   I am to the point in my teaching career where if I work through lunch I don't have to bring work home with me on weeknights or weekends.  So therefore, I watch way too much TV and spend way too much time on this site!  Although I've seen your high CP points lately and now I have some tough competition for the November contest!  How are you getting those 500 CP points a day?  That's a crazy high amount of CP

I've heard about Girl Meets World, and I'm pretty excited about it too! I just hope that Disney doesn't get it like they were talking about, because, despite how much of a Disney fan I am, I think Disney would ruin it. They're super strict on their programming (which I think is a good thing), and they would never have let half of the episodes of Boy Meets World air on their channel. Boy Meets World was a clean show, but it dealt with real life situations, and identified with how kids felt while growing up. It talked about hormones, peer pressure, alcoholism, abuse, social prejudices and so much more that we really needed to hear about and see someone that identified with it. Unfortunately, Disney wouldn't let Girl Meets World do any of that.

kramer4077 : I have not.  But honestly I may give it a try just for giggles. Yeah Bones is a good show, they have eight seasons on Netflix and season nine on hulu.   I did not watch it until recently and found myself pretty much attached to it.  Its god a long and interesting story line.

My top 5 favorite movies are (in respective order):
Oblivion
Jurassic Park (Steven Spielberg for the win!)
Skyfall
Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade (#3) (Steven Spielberg for the win! Again!)
and Portal: The Movie (Hopefully!)

My favorite TV show (since I only really watch one) is Marvel: Agents of Shield.

That's pretty much anyway. See ya!

Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade (#3) (Steven Spielberg for the win! Again!)
and Portal: The Movie (Hopefully!)

My favorite TV show (since I only really watch one) is Marvel: Agents of Shield.

That's pretty much anyway. See ya!

Sons of anarchy is pretty much the only show that is currently still running that I watch these days. Though nowadays it is mostly just about boring epic custody battles, Plus I miss Ron Pearlman having a more profilic role in it.

I love M*A*S*H! I also enjoy watching Frasier. I recommend two episodes of Frasier that are my favorites: "The Seal That Came To Dinner" & "Star Mitzvah". Both are hilarious.

TV shows I like would be: Star Trek: TNG(Data!, Q!), Star Trek: DS9(Weyoun!), Spongebob(Plankton!), I Love Lucy(Lucy!), Perry Mason(Hamburger!), Murder She Wrote(guest stars!)..... I could go on but those are the ones I like the most right now.

I recommend watching a certain DS9 episode entitled "The Magnificent Ferengi". This is another hilarious episode.

I'm also not a huge TV series fan.  I hardly watch TV anymore due to the huge amount of reruns and just simply poor quality, plastic, silicone  & bubblegum and non-edifying shows.  A couple of years ago when I actually did watch TV, I watched a lot of CSI, NCIS, Smallville, Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicles, the "new" V (can't remember the actual name) and my favourite at the time, Battlestar Galactica and then a bunch of sitcoms:  Frasier, Seinfeld, Third Rock from the sun, Big Bang theory etc.  I really enjoy witty sitcoms.

Movies on the other hand, are my "achilles heel" even up to this day.  I watch(ed) a lot of movies.  Fortunately not so much anymore than I used to, but I still enjoy them.  I know this is not a fav list thread, but I'm feeling generous in sharing, so here goes (in no particular order):

The Lord of the Rings series
The Hobbit (will probably be all of them)
Spiderman series (the one with Tobey McGuire - yeah I know a lot of people don't like him but he wasn't too bad)
Batman series (Christian Bale) - Christopher Nolan, what can I say.
The Green Lantern
You know what, almost all superhero movies..
Shawshank Redemption
...there's too many.  Will stop now.

One of my earliest TV show memories is of my mom getting all worked up because somebody shot J.R.

However, the earliest TV show that I can remember watching religiously is Star Trek: The Original Series.

Some of my other favorites include-
Fringe
Quantum Leap
The Walking Dead
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Star Trek: Voyager
Game of Thrones
The Walking Dead
Supernatural
Sliders

If you can't tell, I'm not really into crime dramas or reality. I like shows that tickle the imagination.

Funny story - I got my kids to watch Star Trek: The Original Series with me. (They loved it). One day I came home from work and my wife told me that my oldest daughter had made something at school that looked like a tricoder. When she got home from school she and her older brother were following the cat around our house and pretending to scan it. My daughter was quoted as saying "It seems to be some kind of alien life-form."
