First, there is no book of the bible "Revelations". There is only one revelation given to John.



Second, there has always been less Christians than non-Christians, especially during the reign of emperor Nero who attempted to kill all Christians off. The weaker Christians renounced God in the face of death, but many died. The Christian population declined.



Third, your feelings, my feelings, or anyone's feelings are not good foundations for scriptural interpretation.



Finally, the 144,000 that are the remaining have much more to do with the past than the future. The "remnant" is a group of Jews who were left behind by the Babylonians and not carried off into captivity (Nehemiah being one of them). All twelve tribes were left in Israel and rebuilt after the destruction. Twelve times twelve times one thousand is 144,000. John is comparing those who were not taken by Babylon with the righteous, showing that the righteous are saved. The 144,000 means that the righteous will be saved, that's it. Certainly, it does not mean that the end times is right now. The apostles thought that the end times would happen in their lifetimes also. They too were wrong.

Chewy Dragonrider :  You are so right.  The closer you grow to Jesus in your Christian walk, the further removed of this world you will feel.  That is part of true Christianity.  It's called "holiness".  Things that always seemed ok to do and to listen to and to watch are no longer ok as God's Spirit works within your life and convicts you of things that "seemed" all right, but no longer are.  Your eyes are opened to the sin of this life.  God is doing this work in you/us, because He wants to grow you spiritually and wants to conform you more and more to His image.  He is gathering His people, He wants us to be ready because He is coming soon.  Jesus said in John 8:23, "And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world."  If you are His child, you would feel the same, for this earth is not our real home.
