Okay, well, it's a seasonal job, sure, but a job nonetheless. I started on Monday, and work from 5PM to 1:30 AM. Starting the 24th of this month, peak season begins, and I work every day with only Sunday as my day off, from 5PM to 5 AM, until the 21st of December. My job? Replenishment at Kohl's Warehouse! It's actually pretty fun to be honest, and incredibly easy, probably the easiest thing I've done in my life. The only problem with it is, there is a lot of walking, since there's quite a bit of ground to cover. After I get off work, I'm not exactly tired, my feet and legs just hurt really bad. I blame it on me being tall.

In the break room, there's quite a few microwaves and vending machines and what-not, also, free coffee, so that definitely will help when peak season rolls around! I get paid 11 bucks an hour, and this is my first job, not to shabby, eh?

Anyways, my point for this topic is, any advice from anybody who's worked in a warehouse before? Exactly what type of shoes to have? How to keep awake (though I don't really have a problem with this, insomnia, yay!)? How to get noticed for a potential full-time employment opportunity? Well, thanks ahead of time, I'm going to go pass out underneath my nice warm blanket! It's a bit chilly this morning, and I'm exhausted.

I'm extremely happy that you found a job. It's not exactly the easiest in this economy, and to find one that pays so well?  ... Congrats!  It sounds like you have a nice working environment also, which is always an added bonus.  Plus, although the job is seasonal, your odds of being 're-hired' by Kohl's for another position are pretty high.  If they see you as a hard worker worth keeping around, they'll likely offer you another position or give it to you if you ask before December 21st.

As for the shoes, I feel your pain.  As a teacher, I am on my feet ALL day.  I am constantly walking back and forth, and although it's a small space I travel in, I'm sure I walk more than most people in my position.

For most of my life, I've always refused to spend more than $25 on any piece of clothing. However, my husband made me spend $35 on a pair of shoes last year, and I have to say that I was ASTOUNDED at the difference $10 made.  Although I don't know enough about shoes to give you any really good advice.... I DO advise pitching in a bit more than you normally would.  I'm about to have to get a new pair of shoes, and this makes me very sad because I have loved these shoes. My feet NEVER hurt in them, even after 12+ hours on my feet.  This is especially impressive when you consider the fact that they are heels.  (Pretty broad heels.. but still heels)  They also look very professional.  Although I don't know if it will help, they were made by a company called Earth Spirit.  The inside of the shoe also says "Classics" right under the company name.

Thank you very much for the advice Singelli! It actually sucks a lot for me since I'm tall (6'2) and I have to bend down a lot, which wears on my back after a while, so not only do my legs and feet hurt at the end of the day, but my back, too! Anyhow, I'll be sure to look out for those shoes, let's just hope they have them in my size! If not, well, then, I guess I'm out of luck then, ahah. :p

You'll find boots that are comfortable as long as they protect your feet.  Steel toes are nice but usually not required.  As for staying up, learn to sleep through the day and go home, stretch 15-20 minutes for your back, and get into bed.  Rest will get you through the night.  Don't drink too much of the Red Bull or Monster.  Coffee is okay if you like the taste but the trick is to sleep as much as possible.  It's seasonal so think of it as working, sleeping, and making a bunch of money.

The trick with warehousing is being alert for safety.  That's where fatigue can get you in trouble.  You need to be awake and alert so you don't hurt yourself.  Things fall, people get injured, and it's all easy to avoid when you get your rest.

As for being cut after peak season is over, Oldschool41, I plan to stay for much longer, so that shouldn't be an issue. ;D

Though, being haughty aside, I will definitely do that. Much of the money I get is going to go to bills and stuff that can help around the house, I.e, lawn tools, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, sheets and new pillows and curtains, etc et era. I don't think that's too bad, right? It is, after all, stuff that's practical and could definitely improve the quality of life around the house, as opposed to games or other misc. Technology.

That's awesome! And great pay for your first job especially! When I stay awake alot of times I end up making sure I stay hydrated with like water and coffee mostly and make sure you get a good nights rest the night before that. The economy is horrible right now and I myself and my family is having hard time getting a job. Hope all goes well for you!

the work force is how you communicate trust me everything spread faster then  a rampaging zombie infection.
what you say and do will reflect you as a person.
 be responsible for your action do nottt lie do not blame other. this will make you or break you.

jokes, conversation stay away from sexual context, your employer will keep eyes on everyone. this create a self image at work.
keep your work and personal life separate do not bring your drama and problems with you to work. do not make excuses
if your late your late, dont blame the bus, or a event.

a joke i always use when im late would be something like " sorry but you know the hero always come in at the last minute"
