I am not really big into crying, but sometimes I thinks its a healthy way for someone to relieve some stress, aggravation, or sadness. Sometimes when people hold too much in they can end up causing health problems for themselves especially heart related.

I don't really think it means you are a wimp. I have a few guys I mentored who are now at least 18 and some of them have come to me in tears over serious things that have happened in their lives and they are pretty tough dudes normally. Now if you are crying at the drop of the hat and cry like crazy during some lame movie, then maybe you are a little wimpy, lol!

It's a sign of weakness unless you are laughing from joy. But I still think that it's admitting my weaknesses that makes me stronger, so crying is admitting that we don't have complete control of our lives and we can be heavily impacted by events we can't control. I think that a person who can admit this is stronger than someone who can't.

It's also a question of physiology since women have bigger tear ducts than men. I rarely cry, even when emotional. That doesn't mean that I'm emotionless, I may feel the same amount of sadness but cannot physically force myself to cry. One of my friends almost called me heartless after my history teacher died earlier this year and I couldn't physically show my emotions when in really I had been hit really hard by his death.

Sidewinder :
For my Reason to cry, Strength.
STRENGTH STRENGTH.
I know what I'm going to do, if I get reply's to my Thread, This will be the hardest thing, but finest thing not being lazy and have SEVEN MONTHS OF WORK IN ONE MONTH. ← Hardest thing ever. Once the vacation is starting, I'll try to meet up with the girl, then, I miss her A LOT I can't go on without her anymore...
But I will try to go to the same school after the vacation instead of being bored at Home Schooling not learning anything and have a very bad life. I prefer her then the Fair honestly, I don't even like the fair and the fair is my family... I can't choose the fair, Not my style, weird part, she also don't likes the fair (lol)
Crying for Strength, is how I got into this mess, It will be hard, but I shall not fail.

People are different and some are just more sensitive than others. Even so, from my point of view crying is a sign of weakness when it happens constantly in front of the most minor hardships we people face in everyday life. I don't have any close friends who do this but I do know a few people who go into hysterics even in front of the smallest pinch and by doing this they search for compassion from everybody around them. Shedding a few tears just for the sake of compassion is not strength in any way in my opinion.

On the other hand I was a teen who liked to hide behind a mask and never let anybody too close. I was always ashamed to cry in front others or show any signs of "weakness". Crying in front of people made me incredibly uncomfortable and I even hid all negative feelings from my parents. Once my self-image started to improve and I began to appreciate every part of myself, crying came more easily and being able to show all kinds of emotions in front of others made me feel much stronger emotionally. I was 17 when I burst into hysterical tears over one silly school assignment in front of my parents, but I remember it as a milestone for becoming the open, emotional person that I am today. Crying has even brought me closer to many of my family members, including my dear granny who is one of my very best friends today.

I don't think crying is a sign of weakness or strength.

It's a sign of humanity.

People cry. It's a completely legitimate biological reaction to a stressful situation or environment. There's nothing wrong with crying or displaying emotion as it certainly doesn't make you weak or less of a person. If anything it makes you more of a person for being able to accept your problems and honestly portray how your feeling.

Although I don't feel as if honestly directly translates into strength.

I think crying shows you have a heart like when a family member dies or pet.
I also think it can show happieness like when you ask someone to marry you and they start crying because they are happy.
But it also can show weakness like when you can't get what you want or your way.

I totally agree with the points that thenumberone and janus made. Crying is one of those emotions society likes to poke at and have varied opinions on but in the end, it's an emotion that we as humans are allowed to express without feeling ashamed about it. My whole life I've struggled with trying to figure out this answer but now I have finally understood that there is no use trying to figure out if it makes you weak or stronger. What's important is that you do cry and let out what you feel, whether its sadness, happiness, etc. The worst thing you can do to yourself is keep all those emotions dangerously bottled up with the excuse of trying to appear strong. A weak person is someone who doesn't show who they truly are because of fear of what others will think of them, one that runs away from facing the problem, and one that falls into the pressure of being what others want you to be . If you deny your feelings and never show them, you are just destroying your emotional circuits which are the very things that make you feel alive and healthy. Statements like "boys don't cry" are just illogical and assigned by society's ignorant beliefs. Don't let anyone ever dictate the way you should express your emotions. It's important to be good to yourself.

Welp, I'm not going to say I've never cried, or do cry, but I don't ever cry in front of people.

I have cried in front of people when I was younger - nowadays though I don't. LOL, I might shed a tear or 2 in private rarely - personally I think crying is neither strength or weakness - it's just something 'to get you through it,' until you figure out what you are going to do about that situation.

Crying neither shows weakness or strength. It is a natural reaction when put under a bad situation.

I'm not sure. Everybody cries for different reasons so it depends on the reason. If you cry because you're being irritating and people get mad at you, then it's weakness. On most other moments, it's strength. It shows you've got feelings, so you're concerned about others. But still, I'm called very calm and chilling by others, and that's why I don't cry so often. Not because I don't cry, but because I try to keep my cool.
So it varies for each person and the situation.

If you cry for the right reasons I don't see anything weak about it. It shows you that your a human who has strong feelings about something dear to you. I'm talking about the emotional feelings if something horrible happens to your friend, family member, you etc... I guess there is nothing wrong to cry if someone cuts your arm or your in some kind of accident like car crash.

Only thing that came to my mind that would show some kind of weakness about crying is that you had very rough times, lets say you are a drug addict and you just don't know anymore what to do with your self and you just start to cry because it might feel like there is no hope anymore in this world, but you can sever that weakness by doing something about your life, after you have dried your tears and you have enough spine to do so.

Well I think it is a weakness while it is also not a weakness. Fist it can be a weakness to yourself if it causes you to get distracted but also is a strength since sometimes the crying can help change others minds on what they think and do. But also crying can be in the middle such as laughing and happy crying where you are doing the opposite of what crying comes from.
