If you're into any "ancient" music(from medieval to romantic), who would your favorite composer be?

It's hard to chose, but mine would have to be Chopin, just an absolute genius in my eyes. I can't find a composition by him that I haven't liked.

I don't expect many responses on this thread, but I do enjoy classical music, and want to hear some opinions

Oh my. This thread got me excited. I can finally talk about the great jazz artists that are really influential, and i personally love em.

Jelly Roll Morton:

Greatly influential to the start of popularity of jazz music, especially in New Orleans.
He regarded himself as a higher person than the average joe...he even got himself some diamond teeth for crying out loud!

Louis Armstrong:

One of the greatest soloists of the 1920's in jazz.
He was vibrant, and served as an example for other jazz artists to follow...truly charismatic guy
Lovely improviser.

Sidney Bechet:

To be honest, I am not a complete fan of his music, because his particular tone and style for playing the jazz clarinet is not to my liking, but I absolutely respect his talent, especially for improvising.
He took playing the jazz clarinet to a new level for years to come.

Duke Ellington:

Truly a harmonious guy. He had an ear for finding harmonies and creating beautiful sound to back-up the lead, which usually was a singer.

There are some jazz artists that really inspired me, and are truly the greats.

Sidewinder : I absolutely agree with your list, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and not to forget Coltrane are definitely on my top 20's list of all time.

I also thank you for alerting me to my own brain fart... I meant "pre-1920s" not "post 1920s", I don't know how I messed that up...
