Have you ever wanted to own every game for one system?

I've tried this with N64 games, but I gave up.

Nope . I just plays em as I sees em . Nothing special or fancy about it . But I might start doing something like that . I guess it makes sense

The 2 systems I've been focusing on lately is the Nintendo NES and Dreamcast. For the NES, I'm trying to collect boxed games and for the Dreamcast, believe it or not, I'm trying to complete the entire collection (USA retail). I currently have I think around 90 Dreamcast games brand new and another 20 or so complete. There was 248 DC games that came out in the USA so I'm half way there. I think once I complete it, I'll make a YouTube video showing off each individual game.

This thread makes me excited about updating my game collection in my profile

Personally, my goal is to one day have one of the more complete and comprehensive collections of PS3 games.

According to Wikipedia, there are about 793 games for the PS3? I have about 60 or so. I have a little less than 10% of the game on the system

legacyme3 : That's a massive goal but your best opportunity to start collecting will probably be over the next 1-2 years since eventually PS3 will be discontinued and therefore stores like Target will be clearancing their games.

Plus, there are a lot of Japan only games, which means importing. Importing is expensive, so I fully expect this to be a life long goal.

It'll be even harder when you consider I want a PS4, and need money for games I want to play.

I don't collect video games for a certain system because that would cost too much money and I am not interested in very many video game franchises, and, because of my previous reason, I don't want to. I have never wanted to either.

Yes and no. I collect really any retro video games I can get my hands on but I mainly collect Sega Genesis and other Sega stuff. I am really trying to get every Sega Genesis games released, that will probably never happen but I will keep collecting!

Yep many times I tried to own all the games for Super Nintendo but I just gave up sense there used to be so many and you can't even get some of them no a days. My super Nintendo is one of the only systems I got besides my ps3.

I collect Wii games since that's the best console I own. I have collected several dozen virtual games for GBA emulator. Those are the only two I regularly get games for.

I recently obtained 127 Brand New Playstation games but I don't plan to keep those, I bought those to resell for profit. I'd love to keep them but financially I couldn't justify it, especially since I need to come up with a lot of money by tax time. In fact, I'm going to have to sell a lot of games between now and April.

legacyme3 : Have you been seeing any good deals on video games lately? I haven't seen many deals lately and I honestly thought there would be a lot better deals than what I've been seeing but maybe I haven't been looking at the right places.

I collect gamecube games I guess. Just wanna get games like kirbys Air ride and paper mario out of the way first

Currently, most of the best deals you can get are via Digital Download.

The best places to look for a deal are generally in online stores (PS+ is winning a lot of people over, with their Instant Game Collection stuff, this month Bioshock Infinite and the DMC reboot are free on PS+) or on Amazon.

As far as gaming on consoles anyway. I shouldn't have to say this, but Steam continues to be the best way to get deals if you are into PC gaming. I spent like a hundred bucks on Steam last month because of all the deals.

Long story short though, if you aren't seeing deals, it's because there just aren't many out there presently. With the shift to the next-gen just starting, it'll be a few months before current-gen games start really dropping in price.

Gamestop's recently started having some PS2 liquidation sales, though it's not every Gamestop, so you may want to check any in your area if that is in your interest. You can also check any yard sales, though this is a piss poor way to find anything specific, and it holds true at all times.

A month or so ago, gohastings was having a big sale and had a lot of games really cheap. But I think that sale might be over, and even if it isn't, their stock has to be terribly limited right now.

I'll keep you updated, but you may want to start paying more attention to Kotaku from time to time. They regularly post a deals article that has some of the best gaming deals on the internet.

Bookmark this and check back from time to time.

IE - As of this moment, Assassin's Creed IV for the 360 is 30 bucks.

mourinhosgum : I don't think we even have flee markets around where I live and we have very few game stores. I'll check Goodwill and Salvation Army sometime. Thanks for the tips.

legacyme3 : Digital games are great but they just aren't as fun to collect.

Yeah I've had a Playstation Plus membership for nearly 3 years now and I've made sure to "purchase" every game that they've had. It just sucks that once you lose your Plus membership, you lose all those games, I wish it was like Xbox where you get to keep the free games forever even after you've cancelled your membership. I haven't taken advantage of any PS+ deals yet.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When you purchase digital games, you are really only getting a license, you aren't really getting the game.

I like physical copies when possible.

I'm sort of collecting NES games. I recently got Punch-out and Super Mario 3, meaning I now have the 3 Mario games in my collection... I'm not going to get them all, but I'm going to collect a bunch of ones I'll enjoy, except from Zelda 1 because I hope to get that on 3DS.
