You may or may not have heard of it but I choose to make my games with the YoYoGames GameMaker. Its really great, you can make any game possible. It is absolutely PERFECT! I reccomend this to everyone. Plus, its free! Woo! :3
I use it all the time. I am working on a game. I will post a link to it as soon as its done. You can get tutorials, engines and things to help with the making of your game. The game can be anything you want. Click here to get it.

Game maker 7 is good but , once your done with your game it saves it as an exe only so it has to load everything before you can play it. So making larger games has a longer wait time before you can play.

I have the GM 8 pro and I must say I'm very happy with it.
It has many features to create very good games.Loading is the only real problem for the simple fact that it has to load the ENTIRE GAME before playing instead of loading each room seperately. Plus the YoYo games site has a nice community of game makers who create DLLs so you don't have to do very much of the GML programming.

Overall, it's the best game creating tool I've ever used.

Been Using Game Maker for a long time, now. I have one full game "CherryBoy" on my site. some others were never finished. but I love how versital the program is. before, I used klik 'n play, not too good for scrolling platformers.

Game maker is pretty good. I liked multimedia fusion 2 better though cuz it had more features and alot of extra add ons. Sadly its not free and very expensive but there is a 30 day trial version. Here is the site if anyone is interested www.clickteam.com
